Getting fake nails with a mechanical job?

Q. So I'm typically pretty girly and want fake nails, maybe even just short ones but I work for a zip line all summer, it is very hands on work.. I can use gloves at work too but do you think I'd be able to handle something like that with fake nails? I've never had them before. Or does nail salon's do nail art on you're real nails?

Answer
A lot will depend on exactly what type of manual work you are doing, the length of your nails and your experience doing the work with the long nails. If you start with them relatively short and let them grow you will become accustomed to them and may be able to adapt to some fairly long talons. I am not familiar with a "zip" line so I speak in ignorance. But----what the heck! Give it a try. Long nails can be very attractive.

Hair and makeup advice? first kiss help also? nail art?

Q. Hey!(: so my birthday party is next week and i need some help on what to do with my haor and makeup! Im really excited for it. It is a joint bday party woth my bf (we are like best friends) and his twin who just happens to be dating my best friend. Also my other bff is their bffs gf. Confused? (: haha. Point is all my best friemds will be there and all his best friends will be including him so i really wanna look good! So it is at this place where they have ropes courses (in the air haha) and zip lines and glow in the dark dodgeball. They even have archery! I know it might sound kiddish and lame but its actually the best place ever! Its so fun and im super excited but i have a few things. So idk what to do with my makeup at all. I dont normally wear makeup so help?! Everthing i need to know. I want blush, eyeshadow, lip sticks and glosses, mascaras, fondations, powders, glitter, anything! My outfit is a lace pink long sleeve crop top with a light pink tank with sparkles underneath with leggings and boots. Super cute. Got it for christmas and it is from delias. The sparkles are gold, if that changes anything. Second thing, my hair. I was thinking straighten it so that ot wouldnt be too high matinence when i would be running around, and then i could easily just brush through it. But how should i style my bangs so they are out of my face? I have any haor type product you could dream of, including like a million bows. For the third thing is my nails. I was thinking pink that matches with gold glitter. Any other ideas or nail art tips or tricks? Remember im open to anything. Your idea might be even better! I am willing to go out and buy anything too. Last thing... well this ones kinda personal. I uh... really am hoping i will have my VERY first kiss that night. We have been dating for a LONG time now and this will be the perfect time. so how do i kinda get him alone and show him i want him to kiss me?! Please help. I will NOT make the first move(: lol. So help please!(:

Answer
Makeup: For your face, you want to go a little more natural cos you will be running around. start out with a tinted moisturizer or a bb cream. A bb cream would be better- the one by garnier is a good one. then use a concealer. I would go for a more prolong wear concealer by mac. It is great for both undereyes and also blemishes. set it with a powder. if your going high end- mac mineralize skin finish natural. If your going drugstore- try the rimmel stay matte powder. then i would contour with NYC bronzer in sunny. line your brush up with the top of your ear and the corner of your mouth and that is where you want to apply it. focus it more by your ear and make sure to blend it out. then you want to highlight. Try Mac mineralize skin finish in soft and gentle. this has gold glitter and will compliment your outfit perfectly. you also want to apply your blush. try something more natural. i would go with MAC blush mineralize blush in dainty if your paler. if your darker skinned, warm soul is your color. that is just a nice flush of color. for your eyes. start with a primer and apply this on your lids-( a drugstore one is the elf one. if you dont mind spending much money, i would get the urban decay primer potions)and below your lash line... go for a more natural look on your eyes. try one of the maybelline quads that has neutral colors. i like the copper chic one. put the lightest color on the inner third of the lid. then mix the two middle colors and place them on the outer 2/3 of your eye. then blend your bronzer that you used on the face and put that in your crease. apply the dark brown color in the pallete and put this in your outer corner and the blend it slightly under your lashline on the outer third. then take the mix you used on your lid and put this on the middle third under your lashes. lastly take the lightest color in that palette and put that in your inner corner that the inner third under your bottom lashes. then smudge a black liner (mac pencil kohl in smolder) on your upper lash line.. then apply this to your tightline. lift up your lid and apply this on that line. also apply this in your waterline and the inner corner. this will really define your eyes. then curl your eyelashes and apply a couple coats of a good mascara. I would use Maybelline one by one ... make sure it is in black though. For your lips, since you plan on having your first kiss just exfoliate them with some sugar and apply some maybelline babylips in pink punch. this will give you a slight tint but wont leave a lip print on your bf. ;)
**If you need help with anything just look it up on youtube. it really helps if what im saying doesnt make sense***

Hair: Definitely straighten it. but i would put it in a sleek ponytail that is nice and lifted. dont have it by your neck but you dont want it on the top of your head either. braid your bangs back and bobby pin them to your hair.

Nails: do a pink like you said but do a gold glitter decoration on your fourth finger. just do it on top of the pink. It will be super pretty!!!

just tell him that you want to give him something and have a nice card or something ready that you give to him. hopefully he will think its sweet and lean in and just play along!
Good luck!! hope you have a nice birthday!! hope i helped :)

Gel nail polish without UV light?

jerseygirl

Is there any brand of gel nail polish where you don't have to use UV light?

Answer
Any normal nail polish. What I'm trying to say is no. Gel polishes need the UV light to "cure" the polish or it wont dry.

Do you absolutely need an LED or UV light for gelish/shellac nail polish?

Q. I want to start painting my own nails because going to the nail salon every week is getting really boring. I want to do shellac/gelish nails so my nails won't chip every other day, but I have no clue how to choose a good LED light, and frankly I do not want to go through the hassle of searching for and buying one.
So I was wondering if I could just paint my nails with shellac/gelish polish without using an LED or UV light, or is it absolutely crucial for the foundation of shellac polish to have a light contraption?

Answer
You'd better use an LED or UV light for nail polish and the UV light will make your hands become black after you use for a long time and it will take more time if you use UV light ,so I suggest you use LED light. You can search led lights special for nail polish on website there will ba many kinds and you can choose one.

What's the best way to apply sheer nail polish?

tooinvolve

In several thin coats? Or 1 or 2 heavy coats? My polish always looks streaky.

Answer
Hi,
Applying nail polish is also an art. Do not skip this guide on how to apply nail polish. It is possible to get beautiful hands and nails in just few minutes.

Regular nail care and an occasional manicure are the best ways to get beautiful nails. Neat, clean and well manicured nails add charm to your personality. Here is your own guide to get beautiful and attractive nails.

Remove the old nail polish

You will need some cotton balls and a nail polish remover (acetone) to get rid of the old nail polish. Take some nail polish remover on the cotton ball and press it on the nail for a few seconds. Wipe out the old nail polish with the same cotton. Make sure that you have removed the entire nail polish residue properly. Do not use nail polish remover too often, as it can harm your nails and cuticles.

Remove cuticles

Nail cuticles keep bacteria away from entering into the body. Proper care of nail cuticles boost the growth of nails. Invest in a cuticle remover and cuticle stick also known as orange stick. Push your cuticles behind with the cuticle stick after softening them with the help of the cuticle remover. Be careful while using the cuticle remover, avoid applying force.

Shape your nails

Make use of the emery board to give a nice shape to your nails. Maintain one direction and file nails from corners to the center. Sharp-corner square nail shape is now in. Long and oval shape nails look stunning but you need to be extra careful with them. If you really want to save efforts and time to manicure then rounded and short shape nails are for you. Just a few minutes of filing and you will get the desired shape.

Clean your hands

Soak your hands into warm soapy water to get your hands free of dusts, old nail varnish remains, dead skin and oil. A few drops of lemon juice into warm water would be the substitute to deep cleanse your hands. Dry your hands with towel. Now you are almost ready to get your nails painted.

Apply base coat

You are on your way to get glamorous nails. Varnish you fingernails or toenails with nail gloss. Nail Gloss keeps your nails sparkling and moisturised.

Apply nail paint

Now it is time to decorate your nails with colour or texture of your choice. Combining two shades of colours can give wonderful effects. Multicolor shades can also be used to beautify your nails. Start applying strokes of the nail polish from the base and work upwards.

To prevent nail enamel from getting damaged make sure that you wipe out excessive nail polish from the tips of the nails. Let the first coat of nail polish dry before applying the second coat. Application of two coats of nail paint gives the smooth texture and makes it appear even. Let the enamel dry completely. You can use a blow dryer to dry the nail polish completely and save time.

Apply top coat

Top coat is also called as sealer as it seals the nail paint. Top coat prevents nail paint from chipping or cracking. Any transparent nail polish can be used to give the top coat. Top coat will help your nail polish last longer.

Moisturise your hands

Apply a good quality hand moisturiser to your hands, cuticles and skin around nails to protect them. Hand moisturiser is the essential thing to carry in your handbag, so your hands will never go dry.

How to get French manicure?

Women are always fascinated with neat and clean looks they get with the French manicure. Get done with cleaning, trimming and shaping your nails. Apply the base coat. Get âtip guidesâ from market which help to cover the lower part of the nails and help to locate the curve of your fingernails.

Cover the open part of your fingernail tips with white nail polish. Let the white coat dry completely. Remove the nail guides and coat your nail with a nail polish that is either pale pink or light beige. Apply two coats of nail polish. Let the last coat dry. Apply the top coat to add sheen to your nails. You are all set to flaunt your well groomed nails.

Avoid nail biting and cuticle picking for the well being of your nails. Add lots of proteins and nutrients in your diet. Healthy and strong nails can depict your health. Wear cotton gloves while washing and cleaning. Massage your hands and fingernails with body oil before going to bed.

Hit the market today and buy all the essential make-up products you will need to groom your nails. Make your own manicure kit. Add the craziest shades of pink and blue to your collection. Go out of the way by wearing black nail polish to show your wilder side or opt for an elegant French manicure to put forth a ladylike look. Now start practicing to say thank you, when you get showered by al those compliments!

Can you buy Konad Nail Art Stamping at Walmart?

Q. Im going there in a few minutes and thought that "usually walmart has those type of things, so mabye i should go check there!!" So do they sell those things there?

Answer
No they don't. You can only get them online. But since you have to go to walmart anyway, I assume, there's no harm in checking.

This is where you can get them online: http://www.wowsocool.com/index.html

Nail art questions :) ????

Q. Ok so does anybody know where to get cheap really god nail accessories and stuff like nail pens and glitter :)

Answer
The thing about nail pens is that you kinda have to get nice or they stink hardcore! I got some at Walmart and it didn't work at all, but if you really want some I would suggest Sally's. They aren't too expensive but they carry salon stuff. Also sometime the nail salons get stuff like that for free and they might sell it to you if you ask! In addition if you know anyone that cuts hair or does nails or makeup they can get the really GOOD stuff for cheap at places they public can't go do.

And about the glitter(: really the best is just the craft glitter..the small flakes! it stays on the best and is the cheapest! ohhh and every once in a while rue21 has some and it actually works better than the other stuff I have bought

Answer
Vanya, this is what helped me and I thought my nails were hopeless.

Over a year and a half ago my doctor advised me to take Vitamin E for my badly picked and bitten nails. I was ready to try anything, believe me! This worked beyond my wildest dreams! My nails are strong and healthy and ugly deformed bumps on my thumb nails disappeared. Now they grow and grow fast! I use a rectangular nail block to keep them a good length (no talons for me!) and I pamper them with good hand lotion and cuticle cream. I use Develop 10, from Amazon, which is a great strengthener as well as being a shiny clear polish that can be reapplied every few days. One trick that I found on my own is a real winner - I clasp my hands together while watching TV, sometimes massaging in hand cream at the same time. I also have worry stones (from eBay), inexpensive but beautiful smooth stones to rub when stressed) all over the place - in my purse or pocket, on the nightstand, near my couch, and a bowl of them as decor on the coffee table! I check for rough spots or snags on my nails regularly and go after them with the nail block so that no breakage will occur. I even use the nail block for dry, hard places on the skin around my nails, leaving nothing to bite or pick. I am very satisfied to have, finally, a routine that works!

NOTE: Also, you will need to push back your cuticles so you don't get painful hangnails. Soak your nails in warm soapy water for a few minutes to soften them. You can get orange sticks at any drugstore. Put a bit of cotton on the end and push the cuticles back gently.

"An orange stick is basically a catch all tool in the world of nail art and nail care maintenance. They have a variety of more or less unrelated uses that can come in handy. One side of the stick has a pointed end, while the other has a flat angled shape similar to a flat head screw driver. Both sides have a variety of applications. They cost very little. For example:

- Use the pointed end to clean under the free edge at the end of a treatment. If you do this, you should discard the orange stick afterwards as a safety precaution.

- The angled end can be used to even out the cuticle, smoothing out any irregularities. This is basically an alternative to using a hoof stick.

- These sticks can be a great tool for cleaning up parts of the skin that have been touched with nail polish. If the polish is still wet, you can just use a plain stick to remove it. If the polish is still dry, try dipping the stick in nail polish remover first.

- This can be a great tool to use during practice. Attach a plastic tip to the end of the stick and then hold the stick in place while applying an overlay or nail art design.

Each order of orange sticks that you place with us comes in a resealable, easy to store plastic bag containing ten sticks."

Best of luck to you, Vanya! There IS hope!

EDIT: Ooops! http://www.vivalanails.co.uk/orange-sticks.html

Hi,

How can you keep nail polish from getting thick and clumpy?

Ashleigh C

I find that I can only use half a bottle of nailpolish before it gets too thick and clumpy to apply a coat. Even if I just bought the polish 2 weeks ago and it started out perfect, it ends up too thick to finish off and has to be thrown out. I assume it's from the repeated dabbing in and out of the brush, or something like that.

Is it possible to add a drop or two of water or something to get back the consistency it first had? Is there a brand of nail polish that is more resistant to clumping? Any advice??

Answer
DO NOT add water. It will not work. Use nail polish thinner. If you use nail polish remover, it ruins the quality of the product and it will wear off or peel away from the nail faster. If you don't want to buy thinner, try a bit of clear nail polish from a new bottle.

Do this: Once you open the bottle, put a very thin coating of petroleum jelly on the outside of the rim. That will keep the nail polish from crusting up on the rim, which causes air to get into the bottle, causing the drying out. You can also keep your polish in a cool place. I have heard you can keep it in the refridgerator.

Never shake the bottle before applying polish. It creates bubbles. Turn the bottle upside down and roll between the palms of your hands. Fast drying nail polishes thicken and clump up faster than the slower drying ones. If you use slower drying ones, get a fast dry topcoat like Out the Door.

When you apply the polish, one sweep down the middle of the nail and then apply one sweep to either side of the nail to finish the coat. Don't overload the brush, because then it will not go on evenly and will not dry evenly. This is where you get smudges.

It isn't always the quality of the nail polish, it is how it is stored after use. I have cheap stuff as well as expensive and doing these simple steps prolong the life of my polish. I must say, however the type of brush makes a big difference in application. The Loreal nail polishes work very well because of their new brush.

What type of nail polish remover do i have to use to remove Acrylic nails?

Sanam P

What type of nail polish remover do i need to take off Acrylic nails? and how do you do i really need your help. i am really scared. thanx for helping.

Answer
First of all you need to buy {Acetone} polish remover.
Make sure it does not say non-acetone!

Things You'll Need:

* Plastic garbage bag
* Acetone polish remover
* Petroleum jelly
* Nail buffer
* Nail clippers
* Glass bowl

1} Find a good work area where you can sit down and be comfortable. A kitchen table works perfectly for this. Be sure to cover the surface of your table with a plastic garbage bags and a thick layer of newspaper to soak up spills and prevent damage to your tableâs surface.

2} Using a pair of nail clippers, cut the acrylic nails down as short as possible to make the removal easier.

3} Fill a glass bowl with nail polish remover (the type with acetone in it). This will be used to soak your nails in and dissolve the nail glue which attached your acrylic nails to your natural ones.

4} Before dunking your nails apply a coating of petroleum jelly to the skin surrounding your nails. This will help prevent the skin from drying out while soaking in the polish remover. Just be sure you donât get any on the nail or it will block the polish remover from loosening the glue.

5} Dip your fingers into the bowl of nail polish remover and continue to soak them for 15-20 minutes.

6} Remove your hands and try to gently peel the acrylic nails off. If you are met with resistance and any or all of the acrylic nails do not easily peel off, submerge your fingers in the polish remover again and soak for another five minutes. Never force a nail to come off if itâs not ready.

7} After re-soaking you should be able to remove any stubborn acrylic nails and will now be left with only your natural nails.

8} Thoroughly was your hands in order to remove any polish remover residue and the petroleum jelly.

9} If any of the nail glue remains on your nails, simply buff this off with a nail buffer. Be gentle and use a light touch to avoid damaging your natural nails.

10} Apply a moisturizing hand cream to your hands and massage in well. This will help replace any lost moisture from the acetone polish remover.

Christmas present ideas for my mom?

Emma

She's not really a jewelry person because she can't really wear it to work and doesn't wear make up..
Usually I get her something simple like a robe or a pair of slippers but she only wears them during the winter and it sucks that I can't come up with something else instead of repeating the same thing every year. It makes me look like I don't put enough thought into it, in my opinion.

I want to get her something that maybe she doesn't necessarily need, but something she can at least choose to use any day during the year. She's in her 50's and I just turned 18 and I have a really bad habit of buying things for people that I would like more than the other person, especially with the age difference.

Does anybody have suggestions? She's a really simple person, but I go all out on things like Christmas so it's hard to not overthink it. Help, please?

Answer
Yankee candle
gift card to her fav store
flowers
nail polish
magazine subscription
Kitchen supplies
gardening stuff
perfume
body lotion

How to get red dried nail polish out of the carpet? ?

Q. I have a light pink carpet and recently spilt bright red nail polish all over it, I've tried nail polish remover but it didn't work, is there anything else I can try?

Answer
Often nail polish on carpet is just on the very tips of the fibers. If this is the case you can just snip the polish off with sharp scissors.

Just cut the very tips of the fibers. Work slowly. Don't cut a single millimeter more than you have to and pull up while cutting. This will help prevent divots in the carpet. Try your best to do just one or two fibers at a time...not a whole clump.

This will work unless you have used nail polish remover and have worked the nail polish deeper into the carpet.

Good luck.

Is nail polish a renewable resource or non renewable resource?

Answer
Nail polish is a mixture of things; it includes pigments, solvents, and resins/polymers etc to form the paint-like film when it dries. Most of the components are probably derived ultamately from petroleum or mineral substances, so, at least some of it is, technically, non-renewable, however, lets keep it in perspective, the quantity of the earths resources used for nail polish is a very, very tiny fraction, so you can paint your nails without feeling a lot of guilt that you are ripping through the earth's resources like there is no tomorrow.

If you could get your parents to plan ahead and combine errands when driving, not go hog-wild with the air conditioning, fix the leaking fawcet washers, and such stuff, it would offset your nail polish use many, many times over.
