Is nail polish bad for my health? ?

Gracey

Im fifteen and i now have a new addiction to nail polish, but when my dad walks into my room he always says its going to poison me because of the fumes and i sometimes bite my nails and forget im wearing nail polish. Is it bad for my health?

Answer
Nail polish is not unhealthy at all, if your careful with it. Your addiction to nail polish isn't bad at all. In fact, lots of girls LOVE nail polish.. I do..

Your dad is probably bothered by the smell. Some people (like my mom) hate smells like this.

You really just don't want to be inhaling this scent for a long time.

Paint your nails in the bathroom, put a fan on after your done, or open a window.

Chewing your nails with polish on them isn't always bad. I've done it, and I'm fine. If you taste that yucky taste of nail polish after you've bitten your nails, just spit it out in a tissue, and rinse out your mouth with mouth wash or water.

How to apply nail polish?

Sophia G

Whenever I apply Nail Polish it either

1. Gets all these little dents from my fingerprints because I check if its dry

2. Smudge all over my finger

3. Goes dull after a day.

Any ideas for how to avoid these problems and at the same time, get gorgeous DIY nails that look like they are fresh from the salon?
HELP!

Answer
Steps
1. Choose a nail polish in the color of your choice.
2. Gather some cotton balls, nail polish remover, towel, newspaper, and clear nail polish.
3. Paint your nails in a well-ventilated room. The fumes can be extremely dangerous to your health.
4. Roll the bottle between your hands to warm the nail polish. Open it, and scrape some of the excess nail polish off.
5. Apply one coat of clear nail polish (base and top coat works best) after the color coats. Let it dry.
6. Paint one stripe in the middle. Then, paint a stripe on the left, continuing to the right.
7. Apply your first coat of color to your nails, using only three strokes per finger and painting in an upward motion. Don't worry if it looks too thin. It's supposed to. Let it dry
8. Paint one stripe in the middle. Then, paint a stripe on the left, continuing to the right.
9. Apply your second coat of color to your nails. Let it dry.
10. Apply a last coat of clear nail polish to keep the color lasting for at least 1 more week! also you can get a top and base coat for before you start to paint your nails and after your second coat!
11. and enjoy

Stamping Nail Art Image Plate?

Melissa

My uncle got me a stamping nail art image plate that looks like this:
http://hunt4freebies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Hello-Kitty-Nail-Art-Stamping-Plate.png

It didn't come with directions and I'm not sure hot to use it. I'm assuming when the nail polish is still wet, you press your finger down on one of the images, but I'm not sure if that's really how it works. If anybody knows please let me know. Thanks!

Answer
first you paint nail polish on the image. use like a sharp edge. like a knife to wipe off paint on the flat surface of the nail plate.. do not take out paint from the imagegap..thing... then you get a stamp kinda like sponge. and press onto the image and the image will get on the sponge so that you can stamp it on your nails. voila

Is it embarrassing if ur false nails come off in public?

princess

I applied them 4 the first time,it's been two days. I have done nail art and everything. I yet pushed them lightly and two off them just popped off. They look like they are stuck nicely and still two off them popped off.

I have martial arts training after a couple of days. Would it b embarrassing if my nails come off? Is there no option but to remove the nails and start again wilt the nail art and everything?...lol the last few lines sound dramatic. Anyways thnks for ur help :)

Cheers,
Princess :)

Answer
@Jesse: How the hell does she sound like a bitch? She actually seems pretty nice to me. She asked this question with very good manners.

Kids these days...

Anyway, when I were fake nails, they come of pretty easily, but it's not that embarrassing. When they fall off in public, I just quickly put them into a pocket or bag haha. If you want them to stick really well, I think the only way to do that is to take them off and start again. (With the glueing). Make sure you use a generous amount of glue and hold them down for a while before letting go so they bond better. It's also an idea to ask a sales assistant what a really good nail glue is. They're pretty hard to find lol.

EDIT: After looking up material arts on Google, I think it would definitely be best to remove your nails and put them on again after the class lol. There's a very high chance that they will come off while you're something like that and if your doing something like that, yes, it would be embarrassing if they fell off haha. By public, I thought you meant just at school or something like that.

HELP! how can i get my nail polish to dry faster?!?

Q. One thing i've read is to put them in some cold water?
Does this work?
If so how long do i have to wait to put them in cold water?
Any other suggestions?
thanks xx
So if i just filled up the sink with cold water from the tap, and put my hands init, my nails should dry quicker?

Answer
Dipping your nails in cold water does work, you can dip them immediately after youre done painting your nails, but it only dries the outermost layer of paint. If you have a lot of thick coats on, the cold water method wont help you much.
Other options are using a blow dryer or fan to dry your nails or using a quick dry drop/spray. You can also just start off with using quick drying nail polish, like the Sally Hansen 60 second ones.

Some quick dry drops you can use are OPI Drip Dry Drops or Nicole Drying Drops.

What's the fastest-drying brand of nail polish you've ever tried?

Colorado T

Thanks! :)

Answer
if you want your polish to dry super fast, get a drying oil. I picked up some 'Jessica' -brand nail polish "quick dry oil" It's an oil that you drop on each nail and it drys instantly.

I also like to use a 60-second top coat to help make the nail polish last. OPI is my favorite nail polish and it comes in a ton of colors.

Is it true that wearing nail polish on the toes can seal in fungus and allow it to grow?

ce

Answer
Your nails go to fungus if they get water trapped between the nail and a another surface like a fake nail

Is there any nail polish that actually look like the color of your toenail i wanna cover up my fungus?

What it is

i have to swim for p.e in a couple of days and i cant believe i am even considering putting some some nail polish on but i have no alternative before we get in the pool we have to stand outside the pool in a line and rinse our hair and i am very selfconcious about my fungus

Answer
Yes their is nail polish that kinda looks like skin. Go to any store and look for a french mannicure kit. (sally beauty, walmart, walgreen, cvs). their are like three or four different base colors you can choose from and that will look like the bed of the nail and a white/creamy color that will come with it to like the growth of the nail. just pick out the one that looks like your skin color.
If your daring... You could probaly even go to a nail salon (when it's not busy and just get your toes paint with a french mannicure it's like 5 bucks. but atleast you don't have to do it and your toes will look natural.
Also if it's fungus under the nail. You might want to soak your feet with warm to hot water with equal amount of vingar. It will kill the fungus. the longer you soak and the more you soak the better. hope this helps.

I need some nail art ideas?

Directione

So I paint my nails A LOT, and I'm having trouble coming up with ideas. I love cutepolish nail tutorials, so I do a lot of those. I have done tons of stuff, and I'm looking for a Wow design. My nails are long btw, and I have at least 5 shades of every color, and 3 times as many pinks. As long as it's not extremely chanllenging, I can probably do it.

Any and all ideas are appreciated, so thank you!

Answer
you should do something like sailor . on one nail you can have an anchor or something , and the other nails can have blue and white stripes and you can have a little red bow on the nails with the blue and white stripes. just a thought. i did it before and i liked it .

How do I remove 3D nail art?

CatLover-x

Yesterday I bought some 3D nail art bows, and I haven't put them on my nails yet, as I like to make sure I can take them off before I put them on. Will soaking them in Warm, Soapy water dissolve the Glue and get them off? Thanks :)

Answer
Try filling the sink with hot soapy water and putting one cap of nail varnish remover in too. If they are still hard to get off try adding more nail varnish remover to the mix :)

Btw I love the bows they are super cute!

novel help? how should he get out of the box?

Gabbi Lanz

Alright, so- for my English language arts class, my teacher is having us write a novel.
Mine is about a guy who wakes up inside a box (not like a cardboard box, like a large one, similar to an insane asylum). & in the box is a note that says, "Get out of the box before time runs out."
Well, its finally at the part where he's going to get out. (there's another twist, so I promise the ending will not be happy like that). Anyways, I'm kind of stuck. I think that I should mention something about him having to think outside of the box to get outside of the box, but I'm not really sure what that looks like. Thoughts?
Thanks!

Answer
The box is a standard storage crate, made from 3/4" plywood, and nailed on all sides. The trapped man removed the zipper from his jacket, and used the teeth in one "Half" of the metal zipper as a saw to cut through the nails, then curled into a ball and kicked the side out of the crate.

Help - Guide on UV acrylic nails?

Pinky

Hi,

I have just purchased a nail set of ebay, containg acrylic powder, liquid, primer, a UV lamp and UV gel. Could someone please explain to me how I use it (step by step) or are there any guides on the internet?

Thank-you
The brand name is Star Nails:)

Answer
It sounds like a regular acrylic set with a UV gel topcoat.

You would do the acrylics the same way that you would normally do acrylics

Remove all polish
Get 100 grit file and rough up the whole nail. Make sure you get the cuticle area well
Prime
saturate brush with liquid
dip in powder
apply to the nail and stay away from the cuticle areas
There are lots of great YouTube videos on this. Heres a good one to start with:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Omon9ccUKzI

The UV gel should be put on last in a very thin coat. Make sure that you wash your hands and that the nail is clean clean clean before you apply the gel. Apply it in a thin coat and place your nails under the lamp for two minutes.

How to get nail polish out of the carpet!!!!! PLZ HELP!!!!!?

alice

i dropped black nail polish all over my new carpet and need to find a way to take it out FAST!!!!!! i already tried nail polish remover!!! : ] â¥

Answer
Things Youâll Need:

* 100% Acetone
* Old towels or rags that you can throw out after
* soap and water

Step1
Test a small area of carpet to make sure the acetone won't melt it. (you can find 100% pure acetone at a beauty supply store, its basically strong nail polish remover)
Step2
Once you're sure it won't ruin your carpet soak the stained area with the acetone.
Step3
Put a towel over the area and press straight down on it as hard as you can. You can set something heavy on it for a few minutes if you want.
Step4
Repeat steps 2 and 3 until stain is gone. It may take more than one bottle of acetone to remove depending on how dark the polish is and how much is on the carpet.
Step5
After the polish is gone clean the area with soap and water to remove the acetone. Set a towel over the area with weight on top to force out the moisture.

The best way is to come to nail salons in Japan. They must sell it.

Simple nail art???????

Q. I have ALOT of nail polish and I just want to do something nice with my nails. The problem is I don't know what. I have basically any colour you could imagine, a dotting tool and a thin nail art brush. The only thing I don't have is one of those nail art pens. Anyways, what's something that would look cool? Include pictures or movies if you can please! :)
I'm pretty good with painting my nails and doing the lines good and everything, but I don't want anything really advance either.

Answer
Ooh, go to a craft store like Michael's and get some tiny flat-back rhinestones. Sticking a couple onto your manicure makes even a solid color look super super cute. Also you'll get loads of inspiration from this -

How to prevent/solve clumpy nail polish??

KC

I paint my own french pedicures and I use a white nail polish from CVS. I hardly have to paint my toenails and when I do paint them, I don't use much of the white nail polish. But the nail polish still seems to thicken and get clumpy... It's so annoying because I have almost 3/4 of the bottle left, but it gets clumpy and hard to use... I was wondering if there was a way of preventing the thickness of nail polish??

It's not the most expensive type of polish.
I know I screw the lid on tight.
I hardly use it.
Several people have said "nail polish thinner"... I have never heard of this, it's brilliant, haha... Does anyone know about how much it costs??

Answer
DO NOT use nail polish remover... it will reduce the wear of the polish... (think about it.... polish remover.... ) if you can't find a thinner, then running it under hot, and i mean HOT water will temporarily do the trick. Even OPI, (alpine snow) is horrible, gets thick quick. I think it must be something in the white pigment. Anyway, if you go to any salon that uses Seche Vite, you might want to ask them if they can order you a bottle of Seche Restore. It's about $8. I don't see why they wouldn't order it for you... I would :) Good luck!

nail water marbleing?

nikhat fat

hey guys :) .. i tried to do this new nail art technique but it kinda dint happen. The thing is that my nail Polish wont spread at all. its like it doesn't drop on the water. so can you just help me out with the technique. and i wanna know what kind of nail polish is best for this technique, like thick or thin or glittery etc ect .

kindly help me :) :) ... thanks in advance :) :)

Answer
Heyy the water marble nail is really cool ~! I think ur problem is that your polish is to thick and wont spread.

The best polish for water marbling is prob thin polish, the thinner the better, thick polish don't spread so they don't work ~!
And glitter polish sadly dosen't work for this technique... i tried it and it didn't work. But if u want glitter when you finish apply the glitter over it ;)

I use the ultra 8 nail polish it works really well~! Make sure ur polish is GOOD QUALITY . If you buy bad quality polish it mite not also work. and make sure ur nail polish is reasonably new .. old polish could still be thin but not work. as in old like u had it for years xD

GOOD LUCK AND HAV FUN XX
