How can I get more followers on my blog?

Pam Aguilo

Hello again.. My blog is 3 months old and I already have 97 followers. It's really fast. 3 more followers and I'll be holding a contest/giveaways. I'm just wondering how can I get more followers. My blog is about nail art.

Answer
Hi Pam,

To let more people know about your blog, you may do some SEO (Search Engine Optimization). This way, search engines may possibly land you some people who are searching on some particular sets of keywords. And to have a successfully SEO optimized blog, you need external links too. In this case, you may also try setting up mirror blogs on different blogging host, say if you set up your blog at blogger.com, you may want to consider setting up mirror blogs at http://self.my, wordpress.com, livejournal.com etc, and each of them pointing back to your primary blog.

To save time publishing to multiple mirror blogs and to do back up for your blog, I recommend that you take a look at WebStory, a very convenient blogging client for this purpose. HTH.

Mary Ann

I really want to start like a beauty channel on youtube. You know like talia castellano and krazyrayray and all the other gurus. I dont know how to start it though. Like what kind of video should I start with? What tags should I tag my video with? I'm awesome at nail art and hair and I'm pretty good at makeup. I think I'm gonna do vlogging too. how should I start? Should I make like an intro video like telling stuff about me and stuff? Should I start with a tutorial or a tag or what?

Answer
Well, for starting, try an intro tutorial. It would be really cool and gets more viewers than just introducing yourself. And tag stuff like beauty, nails, makeup, etc.
Its actually pretty easy. Many gurus have started like that by doing an intro tutorials. Like for example, cutepolish, or bebexo.

is icing nailpolish a slow drying nail polish? is it good for marble nail art?

Yesss Lope

we wanna do marble nail art. btw does it need to warm or cold water? any tips thanks.

Answer
I saw video of water marbling nail art on youtube and thought it was so cool. So i just decided to see if it'd work with me. And it actually worked pretty good. If you search, marble nail art, or water marbling nail art on youtube you'll come up with many tutorials and tips. But what i did was took a plastic cup, and filled with room temperature water and then used sally Hansen and N.Y.C nail polishes. They seemed to work well. Put tape around your fingers to keep them from getting the polish on them as well. You can use a toothpick to make the design in the paint and pick up excess nail polish after your nail is dunked. Hope this helped :)

I went swimming in Lake Michigan a couple days ago, but i felt my self just get bit, so it must of happened while i was sleeping. It doesn't itch, it Just hurts when i put pressure on it

Answer
Mosquito bite

Mosquitoes go through four stages in their life-cycle: egg, larva, pupa, and adult or imago. Adult females lay their eggs in standing water, which can be a salt-marsh, a lake, a puddle, a natural reservoir on a plant, or an artificial water container such as a plastic bucket. The first three stages are aquatic and last 5â14 days, depending on the species and the ambient temperature; eggs hatch to become larvae, then pupae. The adult mosquito emerges from the pupa as it floats at the water surface. Adults live for 4â8 weeks.[7]

Mosquitoes have mouthparts that are adapted for piercing the skin of plants and animals. While males typically feed on nectar and plant juices, the female needs to obtain nutrients from a "blood meal" before she can produce eggs.

There are about 3,500 species of mosquitoes found throughout the world. In some species of mosquito, the females feed on humans, and are therefore vectors for a number of infectious diseases affecting millions of people per year.[8][9] Some scientists believe that eradicating mosquitoes would not have serious consequences for any ecosystems.

Ashley Baz

I've recently become very interested in nail art, and I'd like to start learning how to do it. Some good nail polish brands, where I can find good brushes and any other tools I may need. Tips and techniques would also be very helpful.

Answer
There is a website that I will list as the source. Basically you get plates with patterns indented on them (they are seven dollars each and each one comes with 5 patterns) then you have to buy a scraper and an applicator (together they are about 5 dollars, I believe) then you put any kind of nail polish on the applicator and use the scraper to scrape the excess off, then you roll the applicator across it and then roll the applicator again on your nail. This will create the pattern you wanted. They come in things like zebra print but they also have dogs, cats, zodiac signs, letters, chinese symbols, and stuff like that. If you want to create your own nail art, sallybeauty.com has a pretty good selection of nail brushes. The best nail polish brand I have ever used is china glaze, but they are a bit expensive. (6 dollars per bottle) however it lasts a very long time. Also, if you want to do things like acrylic nails and fiber nails there are supplies for that at Sally's as well. I hope I helped! Also, the website listed below IS reliable.

I am a 13 year old girl who loves to talk, cheer and shop. So you could say that I'm pretty average. So far this is whats on my christmas list:
Cell phone
clothes
nail polish
gift cards for the mall
laptop
make up
perfume
Makeup case
Gift card for manicure/pedicure
Gift card to dun-kin donuts
New north face

Any ideas? Please no rude comments!

Answer
Do you like creative and cutesy stuff, plus getting lots of packages in the mail? You could ask for a gift package subscription. You'll get a cute fun package once a month, and each time it's full of fun surprises (check out their site for samples).

The name of the company is fair ivy surprise package subscriptions. I get them for my sister and she almost freaks out waiting for the mail each month.

What should I get my 11 year old sister for Christmas?

Ashley

My sister loves One Direction, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, etc. She is kind of a girly girl. She likes doing her nails and she loves shopping for clothes and accessories. I want to buy her the perfect Christmas present, but I have a low budget of something around $10 or $20.
Thanks in advance!

Answer
My sister is OBSESSED with all of those artists, she's 11 too :)
For her birthday I got her a subscription to J-14 magazine. Tiger Beat would be a cool one too. They're not expensive at all and if you don't want a subscription, go grab a couple at the grocery store and give them to her!

Other ideas could be the Justin Bieber nail polish line, a Taylor or 1D t-shirt, one of those thick ribber bracelets that say RED or Speak Now or something (for Taylor) or a calendar or 1D or Justin (IDK if Taylor has one)

I hope this helps :)

How many people went to cosmetology school on here?

Juli

I am wondering because i got an email from a teenager saying that stylists are beneath her as if we (i am a cosmetogist) are nothing and here is her dumb quote:
Work at the Walmart Salon making $9.00 and hour? Yea, what a great life!
OOOHHH---Cosmetology school! WHOA!! You can get a job at the Walmart Superstore!

What would you say to this little teenage girl trying to place house?

Answer
I graduated cos class years ago '87.......I took it because it is an art form.... it was and is fun.. I do not work as a stylist, or manicurist... but those skills have provided me with the ability to not just cut my childrens hair, but find and give them styles that fit them.. and we have facial, pedicure, nail nights... my daughters and I... I give them the "spa works" and we have a great time...

the teen?
I would tell her that she does not know very much.. that you are able to take a drab teenager and give her a suave new look with beautiful, killer locks that draws attention away from her big mouth... to take those claws of hers and trim them so they look like those of a sofisicated young lady.... and a make over that will make her pitifully uneven skin glow and turn heads because the beauty was found even inside a someone like her....

or something along those lines...

do not listen to small people.... you know you have a skill and can create art.... and whether at walmart or on rodeo drive? it is just that skill and art... helping and working with people...

Nail question--Is "Out the Door" top coat any good?

nail art junkie
on Glittery - Nail Art Gallery
nail art junkie image

annababy

I'm generally a Seche Vite fan for top coats as I do a lot of nail stamping and Seche Vite dries quickly and doesn't smear the designs. But I go thru a lot of it and when I get down to about a 5th of the bottle left, it's too thick and sticky to use. Orly smears like crazy no matter how long I let the stamps dry, Milani and Sinful Colors smear a bit too and aren't as glossy, and Sally Hanson's is too expensive to experiment with (at least for me; Orly was expensive too, what a waste of money!! Don't wanna do that again). I've heard mention of these big bottles of top coat called "Out the Door" and want to see if any other nail art/stamping junkies like me can give me a review or recommendation. Thanks!

Answer
No, its not good.

or little lights around your room ..hung with stick on hooks on the ceiling going around your room, then add origami balloons over the top

origami beads...small triangles rolled on a string and hung...

do a large string art design on the wall...nails and yarn and a lot of measuring

nail polish keeps peeling off image
Q. I love dark colors but whenever it gets on my skin, it looks bad. Also, if I have a nail polish that peels off easily (its cheap but its really pretty!) do you have any tips on how I can keep it from coming off (in one piece)? THANKS!

Answer
You get better with practice, but getting it off your skin is easy. Just put lotion on your hands before bed, in the morning the polish will lift right off your skin. Use a cuticle trimmer to cut the polish off by the nail.

How can I keep my nail polish from peeling off after only a day?

Spen

I used to put nail polish on my bare nail, but it would peel and chip a lot, so I bought something called Sally Hansen Double Duty (Strengthening Base & Top Coat). Applied that to my bare nail, let it dry, put nail color on, let it dry, put the double duty on again, let it dry. It still peels off. Any advice?

The nail color is Sally Hansen brand too, by the way.

Answer
You need a better top coat. Applying a base coat is a good start but you should look into getting a better top coat. Something possibly a little more expensive but will pay off in the long run. Look into Seche Vite, China Glaze, Finger Paints, or OPI.

nail polish keeps chipping image

<3

I painted my nails black a couple of days ago, and the nail polish keeps chipping and I'm getting sick of it. All I have to remove it is Nail Polish remover, cotton swabs (Q-Tips), and paper towels.

My thumbs and middle fingers are taking me forever to remove the polish.
What should I do?

Answer
If you let your nails soak in the remover in a bowl for a minute before scrubbing off the polish I've found that it comes off more easily. Finish by scrubbing off the polish with a cotton-ball soaked in polish remover as well.

How to keep videos with songs on youtube without copyright infringement?

nail art express
on Have Fun With Nail Art Design :: Nail Art Design From CoolNailsArt
nail art express image

jessiedevy

I've uploaded 2 video art pieces with songs (one by Nine Inch Nails, one by Queens of the Stone Age) in the background and it tells me they're rejected because the audio. But how do other people get away with uploading commercial audio?

Answer
I regret to inform you that any music which is not your creation
and used as part of your video is indeed copyright infringement.
Companies like UMG, Warner and Viacom not only "own" their
music, they also "own" the rights to them, which includes how
and where the music can be publicly presented and performed.

Thus they would be 100% within their rights to claim the music
in your video as their own -- especially if you didn't seek written
permission or licence to use it and "broadcast" it over YouTube.
They could easily and legally force YouTube to take your video
"off the air" (potentially banning you) for any number of reasons:

1) If you used "their music", it is considered part of the famous
sentence "unauthorized duplication, whether in whole or in part,
without the expressed written consent of...." Their fear wouldn't
just be about you, but also other people who could conceivably
download, copy or listen to that music without having bought it.

2) You are potentially lessening the value of "their property" by
presenting and "broadcasting" it in a bad-quality, tiny 4x3-inch,
poor-resolution, mono-sounding and possibly amateurish video.

3) They may think your video makes "their property" look either
bad, cheap or unappealing to someone who could otherwise be
considering purchasing "their music".

4) They could also be thinking that anyone's memory or mental
image of "their music" could forever be "haunted" by images of
your video or your YouTube channel if they feel it's in bad taste.
You may involuntarily be "defaming" the artist and/or the music.

Even if you've given due credit on your video to the music label,
the artist or the music itself, that should never be construed as
a validation, excuse or justification for you (and really YouTube)
to "break the law". You can always claim that your video is "for
personal use only", but then they could come back at you with
some interesting questions: A) why did you upload the video to
YouTube, B) why did you "steal" the artist's music, and C) how
did you acquire that music? (note: Even if you bought it legally,
that doesn't give you blanket permission to use it "willy-nilly" or
however you like, as though you're a legal representative of the
artist.)

As for the other people who may be uploading the same music,
either YouTube will get to them eventually or somebody who is
jealous will "flag" their video. If you're willing to take the chance
and reupload your video with the same music, avoid writing the
name of the song or the artist in either your title, description or
tags. Also, donât use sentences like "no copyright infringement
intended", "I do not own the song" or "I don't take any credit for
this music". YouTube's computers search for phrases like that.

You should also bear in mind that the music-recording industry
is beginning to implement the use of inaudible "watermarks" or
"fingerprints" hidden inside their music, in order to uncover and
identify their illicit use. As such, it's conceivable that no matter
how many times you upload your video, it'll always be rejected
because of copyright reasons. You'd thus probably have to find
a different recording of the music you would want to use. If you
noticed other videos using the same music, they were probably
uploaded before this new technology started coming into being.

The only possible exception to everything I just wrote is for you
to use music that is less than 30 seconds long. If you listen to
any talk-show on radio or TV, they will never play or use music
longer than 30 secs during a guest introduction or segué going
into and out of commercials. Guess what the reason is.

I hope my info has been helpful to you.

Why are literary criticisms so boring to read?

JohnL

And I don't even feel like I gain anything from them. Most of them basically express the obvious in pompous language.

Answer
You've hit the nail on the head when you say 'most express the obvious.' A lot of literary critiques ARE boring, for that reason. The art of critique is a difficult one, and is probably lost nowadays in most areas of literature.

Try looking up literary critiques by writers that you admire. A lot of times, they know what to look for in a book and how to make a review interesting, whether they hate or love the book. They will often be better than professional critics, for that reason.

One really hilarious criticism: Mark Twain hates James Fenimore Cooper. 'Fenimore Cooper's Literary Offenses,' linked here: http://xroads.virginia.edu/~HYPER/HNS/Indians/offense.html -- Excerpt: "Cooper's art has some defects. In one place in "Deerslayer," and in the restricted space of two-thirds of a page, Cooper has scored 114 offenses against literary art out of a possible 115. It breaks the record." It is really savagely funny, and if nothing else will keep you away from Fenimore Cooper, which is always a good thing.

okay, so i live in southern california.

i know a lot of people think we are
allll superficial fake blondes
who have fake boobs and mansions
and get everything we want.

and stuff but it's totally not like that
where i live. i live 5 minutes away from the beach but it's
still not like that!

so what do you think about southern california/or california in general?

&have you ever been here?

Answer
I was born and raised in the 50's in Orange County. You could hear the train from 30 miles away and we had orange groves everywhere. We had fields of strawberries and we got to glean them when the pickers were finished and on several years we had a community garden somewhere around 17th st. I loved going to Prentice Park in Santa Ana, and Irvine Park w/ the little train. No homes were out there then. Every kid had a story about getting pooped on by the pidgeons at San Juan Capistrano mission during a school field trip. My brothers and I used to sit on our roof at night and watch the fireworks from Disneyland. I loved the Santa Ana winds. It seemed to invigorate us. We would have a neighborhood baseball game in the street.

As a teen, I would take the bus down Harbor Blvd to the beach. In the late 60's Beach Blvd (Hwy 39?) all the way to Huntington Beach was lined with "head shops" painted with psychedelic art. I wish I'd taken a picture, they didn't last long. The beaches were filled with kids and hippies, not snooty rich folks. The Golden Bear in Huntington headlined Linda Rondstat and the Stone Ponies. Mom and I used to buy fish right from the fisherman's little boat at Newport. They have booths there now. The Crab Cooker in Newport is God's gift to seafood lovers. As kids we spent time playing in tide pools, body surfing the waves, riding bikes, climbing trees, having rotten orange fights, nailing our skates to a board (the first skateboards) and trying not to biff it when rolling down the driveway. Our T.V. programs were wholesome like Engineer Bill and Sheriff John, the Mickey Mouse club, but we didn't spend much time sitting in front of a T.V. and certainly not playing video games or texting.

In the 70's things changed a bit. Many more people moved in and started erecting buildings where the fields and orange groves used to be. We'd always had ethnic diversity and all us white kids learned Spanish, of course, but my Mexican and Black friends spoke English. It got to where you would hear Cambodian or Spanish, or whatever, around you in the stores rather than English so it didn't feel the same. We felt the same unrest that the nation felt, especially after the Watts riots in '65. Pollution got really bad, even out at the beach. Huntington had a chain link fence for god's sake! In Riverside County it was impossible to see 5 miles because of the smog. So in 1980 I decided to raise my own kids in northern Ca near a lake and with lots of play room. I'm glad to say that in visiting south in later years things had gotten cleaned up considerably. It's beautiful again in many parts but there are still too many people, in my opinion.

I didn't mean to turn this into nostalgia time but I guess the point is that you look at everything from your own perspective and through your own eyes of experience. I have met wonderful people all over the world. When Satan is not actively influencing a situation then people generally want to be good and kind. We all love our families and try our best to live life well. When I meet shallow city girls like they depict in the reality programs I have to laugh. My net worth is a couple million dollars but I know that isn't where happiness comes from. Their phoniness comes from insecurity and that is what the nation looks at and judges California by. I've never watched "the housewives of Orange County" but I know the type. And that's what we want the nation to think we are??? Before that it was Duh, Valley Girls. When I was in Dublin, Ireland I was having trouble understanding the waiter's accent. He paused, and said "where are you from?" I told him "California in US" He began his next sentence with a head toss and "so, anyway...." You may be too young to understand why that's funny but I bet older folks you know will get it.

The changes in southern Ca make it unappealing to me to ever live there again but it does have it's own charm and personality, for sure, and it is always changing. Shopping is awesome and you do have every service you could desire and anything is just a quick hop on the freeway away.

Of course, if you want a unique heartbeat to a US city, visit New Orleans. It's a lot like San Francisco. They both still show their history where L.A. has kind of lost it. And the food in both cities! Yum.

BTW, where I live in the Gold Country it oozes charm and history but it is changing too. That's life. Like a skateboard, you ride it or you biff. Thanks for speaking up for our home state :)

Ok let see, I have a 3.4 GPA, i go to a high school in new jersey and im a junior. I take AP classes such as AP Art History and AP US 2, I also take the highest science class and I take advanced chemistry. I do 2 clubs and Im planning to do my community service this summer. I want to know if I could get into universities like Rutgers, Georgetown, Penn State, Boston, or even Syracuse!? PLease let me know, I'd appreciate it!

Answer
GPA alone won't help you, but play up other factors in your admissions application such as extracurriculars and community involvement.

Do well on the standardized tests such as the SAT or ACT. Since differently schools grade differently, these tests serve as a way to see how you compare with the rest of the country.
If your GPA isn't doing you justice, nail that test!

What ad agency does the innovative, clever Target commercials seen on TV?

The Target commercials on TV are among the most creative and entertaining that I've ever seen. Can we get cast and credits on the agency and the creative people who produce these spots?

The 30-second Target spot is titled "Product People" and is the

This is just the start of it:

There is a room.

In that room there is a man. And a table. The computer keys hum as his thin fingers rush along the board. Currently, the brief indulgences in the pen-and-paper duo have become a curse. Re-typing handwriting took up unnecessary time. And his glasses had conveniently decided to play hide-and-seek. He squinted at the screen and his notepad. Neither words appeared coherent.

The last time he shaved was a Monday. But he likes it that way â his beard, slightly grown out. Gel likewise had ruffled his hair into submission despite his rather obvious antipathy to leave the apartment. Same old; same old. Like a worn out tattoo, small scrawled writing covers most of his left hand. His nails are roughly chewed; the keratin fraying. He exhales and refocuses on the task at hand.

In his head, there is a vivid image of a girl. The man doesnât know who she is or where she is from, but she had been overly present in his thoughts for the past week. It seemed like a good idea to write about her â fulfill the job occupation for a change. He snorts. The story has no direction. He is aware of that â and she doesnât have a name. Initially, it was Rose, then Ebony, Kate, Hannah, Lila, Amelia and then finally âGirlâ.

The author closes his eyes and there she was â vibrant. Alive. She licks her lips, as if she is hungry. Perhaps she is. Perhaps it is the subtlety of the curve of her hips. Maybe the delicacy of her collar bone, poking out from the scoop between her neck and shoulders. Or is it the swooped grace of her shoulders â just malleable; just enough to tempt. His eyes follow this piece of forbidden candy. She is so oblivious though, and he is more brazen, picturing each tantalising item of clothing peeling away. She teeters on the stilettos. Sexual or innocent? He canât decide. She is almost tiptoeing the line; her soft doe-eyes complimenting the bold smear of red on her lips.

His breath hitches and he feels his erection growing. Fictional; he reminds himself. And oh so young. Very inappropriate. The author inhales. In that moment, he realises her name is Scarlett.

The man sips cautiously from the chipped mug, and then spits it out. The tea is cold. His fingers are drawn to the keyboard again. Eyes drooping â but not closed, the words spill out over the paper.

***

Breathing in deeply, her chest rises and her stomach dips in underneath the rib cage. Then she breathes out, and itâs still there. The bump. That little curve of fat in the way of perfection. Scarlett looks in the mirror. She squints. She turns on her side. She sucks her stomach in and tries to hold it there forever. Reality hits and she has to exhale, then takes another breath. Exercise, she reminds herself, then frowns. Tomorrow. Maybe. Her eyes scrutinise that bump again.

Commencing the daily routine, she painted on layers of foundation and concealer. A comfort â almost, in how she knew intimately how to apply it; how to cover the scars. The plastic surgeon had been able to remould her scarred skin in exchange for long thin blemishes that covered most of her torso. Scarlett, in turn, mastered the art of makeup. Clothes helped too. A thin line of Kohl and mascara left her satisfied with her eyes. Her skin was now flawless. She smiles cautiously into the mirror, imagining that she is beautiful.

The walls of the apartment are thin; she hears the moans and thumps of her roommate Mia with her latest toy â Luke â or something like that. Breaking from her haze, she dresses in a black pencil skirt and white office shirt. Grabbing her keys, handbag and blazer, she runs out the door. Rushing to her car â a glossy Honda; small, compact, she unlocks it. The dashboard lights up, flashing 8:53 AM urgently. Late again. ****. Mr Mortenson will be angry. The car is moving, and sheâs pushing the speed limit. The tyres buzz and growl against the tar. A car beeps. She slows slightly.

Fifteen minutes late, she runs in. Immediately, Mr Mortenson latches onto her, ranting about company policy and promptness. Scarlett says nothing until she is dismissed. She had worked at Mayn Homewares for the past 3 years â part time during university and full time now awaiting a job from her bachelors degree in Visual Arts. Modeling for television commercials â initially a hobby, financed the rent. Occasionally people recognise her â a situation always amusing, and slightly awkward. The day passes prosaically, as always and she is eager to get home.

Mia is clothed â Scarlett noted dryly, whilst typing rapidly on her computer. State-of-the-art Mac Book Pro; brand new and one of the numerous reasons Mia is always strapped for cash. Quality over quantity. Her thinly plucked eyebrows knit together as she types frantically, chewing absentmindedly on her lip. Her eyes flick up, a smile lighting up her face. Abruptly, she shuts the laptop's lid. Scarlett wonders vaguely what she was searching for.

Answer
I think that you write fantastically! Great job.

I found it interesting and engaging enough to read the entire thing. I would continue reading, I think, though it isn't my genre of choice from what I can tell.

Good luck!

I could go on more, but just... It's fantastic. Keep writing!!! Get it published :) I would buy. Definitely.

What do you think of essie nail polish?

nail polish swatches

<3

I'm thinking of getting some but I've never used good nail polish i always used to cheap drugstore brands and I'm getting sick of them, I know about OPI but long story short I can't get them for several reasons, i might after but right now im focusing on essies, so im really liking the colors online, how is the quality, what are pros and cons? would you recommend them?

Answer
I want to start by saying that each nail polish is different. Not brand, but polish. Some of my favorite polishes are cheap polishes, one that comes to mind in particular is Essence Choose Me! It's 99 cents and beautiful. You can find great quality nail polishes cheap as well. Sally Hansen is phenomenal for drug store polishes. Those who buy only "salon polish" are truly missing out, and I feel sorry that they think that because it's more expensive that it's better quality. Nail polish is it's own creature and expensive certainly does not mean better. I'm saying this with the experience of having tried everything from cheap essence polishes to Chanel. Most of my collection consists of Orly polishes because I have found I consistently love their formula, color, and finish selection, also because they're easily available. And their price is fine for me - $5-$7.

Choose polish based on the individual polish, not the brand. If it's a color and finish that you just love, buy it! If it's a regular pink or red creme, you can buy those in any brand and I suggest a cheaper brand purely because those colors are so common. Specifically with Essie, they do a LOT of sheer colors and neutral colors. That's their thing. If you like that, then go for it! I haven't had any major problems with their formula being particularly streaky or anything. But seriously, watch out for sheers. If it looks like a pretty pastel pink in the bottle, it may show up as next to nothing on the nail. This doesn't mean the quality is bad, it's just what Essie intended.

Before you buy polish, you can always use google and search "*polish brand* *color name* swatch". So an example would be "Essie Mint Candy Apple Swatch". There are many, many nail polish bloggers that will show you swatches of the color on nails, and tell you about the formula. You can also use sites like nailgal.com that are filled with swatches of different polishes and you can look for a specific polish in their search.

If you're concerned about chipping and wear, many people don't realize the significance and importance of a good top and base coat. I don't know if you're using a base and top coat, but if you're not, you need to. You need a combination of both, and you can make almost any nail polish last for a week+. They also certainly help prevent yellowing or staining to the nails. Here are some of the best top and base coats on the market:

Top Coats:
Seche Vite
Poshe
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri

Base Coats:
CND Stickey
Barielle (there are several different ones)
Gelous
Orly Bonder
I personally use Sally Hansen Double Duty Top and Base Coat (ONLY as a base coat) and I love it.

Top and Base Coat set:
Zoya's Color Lock System is becoming VERY popular, and a lot of other nail fanatics are swearing by it.

The other thing is WRAP YOUR TIPS!! Wrapping will REALLY help prevent chipping. Wrap every layer you use from base to top. Wrapping is simply when you make sure the polish goes over the tip of your nail and just around to the underside. So when you look at your nail straight on at the tip, you don't see the white of your nail.

Edit - I spelled a couple of things wrong!

How to make matte nail polish?

Sofia

Can I turn a glossy nail polish into matte?
I saw girls doing matte nail polish with a glossy nail polish, how are they doing that?

Answer
When you have painted your nails, first seal it with a normal glossy top coat. Then apply a mattifying top coat. For example: Essie "Matte about you". Most nail polish brands have matte top coats. Look at the difference:

Scroll down a bit and you see where I applied the matte top coat.

How would you say these onomatopoeia and one word in other languages?

nail art yelp
on Pink bow! 3D Nail art by Jackie | Yelp
nail art yelp image

Thailog

I know they Are Not words but I am only asking. List of them (onomatopoeia) here;
1. Hiya! or Hiya...! - Used by characters (most of which are NOT of BOTH from Asian national AND decent) who uses the phrase while in the middle of performing Martial Arts techniques.
Example: A violent scenario. (* = use of onomatopoeia)
...before the terrorized young woman's second assailant can corner her, he is helpless as another young woman subtly approaches him. She is wearing a T-shirt that stops 5 inches below her waist, black leggings, and red canvas flats. She creates an illusion that there is an unstable bee hive above him, and as she lures him to a cave, she tosses a stone enveloped by a note to his foot, and walks up behind him.
The boy reads the lines on the note:
Boneeta Priemaverra: (knock, knock)
Bastard: Who's there?
Boneeta Priemaverra: Hola.
Bastard: ¿Quien hola?
Boneeta Priemeverra: Hola allí [Pronounced Oh-lah ah-yee].

The boy scratches his head, contemplating the question,"If 'Hola' means 'hello', then "Hola allí' means...?

The girl taps his shoulder. The boy twists around to look into the girl's eyes for seconds, and just as she locks him into eye contact with her hypnotic brown eyes and underestimated, harmlessly ambiguous level of attractiveness and other overlooked characteristics.

"Hi there', she says just before knocking his lights out with a strike her tightly-quenched fist propelled by her slim, muscular arms, while saying,"Hiya!" *

2. Uh-oh/Uh oh. - An exclamation of error, concern, awareness of a problem, or surprise.
E.g.: Suddenly, a pride of young men, composed with ages from one year and six months younger to three years older than her, appear to be riding unbelievably large and terrifyingly monstrous wolves with pitch black eye sockets.

The young men, donning his own version of formal attire and defying the assumption that men of all types can't find their own style, encompass them in a ring of crosshair-assisted compound bowmen.

"Uh oh", the girls spit out.*

3. Bang! - Representing a loud noise or heavy impact. (A sudden percussive noise.) To strike forcefully.
E.g.: The Dragon Rider lightly compresses a button and he is willingly consumed into his vehicle, which goes from bipedal to quadrupedal, extends its forelimbs into hands with talon-like nails, and its heads becomes a mask. The titan looks like a combination of a man at a white tie event and a dinosaur.

Estella Warren, standing behind the monstrous young man, using sign language to ask if that was the same young man that opened her diary. The answer is 'yes' and her revenge was going to be sweet.

She taps his shoulder. The young man, seeing her faint shadow grow larger from behind his feet, swings a claw in a failed attempt to knock her over, only to miss and observes in amazement as she kicks the smooth side of his talons, shattering them almost simultaneously.
Snap! the talon's explode into fragments.*

4. Oof! - A sound mimicking the loss of air, as if someone's solar plexus had just been struck.
Ex.: Estella throws one blow to the testicles, then another to the guy's lower abdomen.
"Oof!" he painfully yelps.

5. Pow! - Represents the sound of a violent impact, such as a punch.
POW! is the only sound that heard as Kara also gets her revenge on the young man after she expertly hurls a straight punch to his face, effortlessly knocking him down.*

6. Thud/knock (lightly) - Dull strike noises.
A 'Thud' is heard as Boneeta taps the boy's shoulder.*

7. Whack! - To hit, slap or strike.
A Whack! is heard as Diana roundhouse kicks one of Steve's last long-existing baby teeth from his mouth.*

8. Crack! - To cause to make a sharp sound. â
Crack! is the sound of Regina throwing a sharp roundhouse kick to The Furox/Mordrid's helmet, harmlessly snapping the cover off as well as exposing Kirk's surprised, cringing face.*

9. Bop! - To gently or playfully strike someone or something.
Bop! is heard as the most sinfully attractive girl in school, Megan Banes, kicks Toyotomi in the mouth while flirting with him during their sparring match.*

One word:
Hottie - In reference to an (usually lustfully) attractive girl or young woman.
(i.e.: That girl is a martial arts hottie!)

Nail Salons Near or In Jersey City?

Jack

I live in Jersey City and am really in to advance nail art. But all the nail salons I've been to around my area all are still on basic level nail art. I'm trying to find a place that's not to expensive that knows how to do modern style nails because I'm sick of having to curve my style because the technician can't do it. So doesn't anyone know an affordable place that doesn't modern style nails that's not in New York City.

Answer
Go to YELP or Craigslist and read reviews or post on their message boards there from your city.
