3D Nail art (acrylics) experiences and questions?

Allie

So I kind of want to get a 3d nail art design this time! There's one with a bow on top!

One, how much does it cost?
Two, is it pretty secure? How do they do it?
Three, did it ever get annoying? Were you picking it off? Can you even pick it off? :p
Four, should I cut my nails down before I go or will they do it, orrr do I have to ask?

Please and thank you, :)

Answer
Usually they cut your nails down for you and make them look nice.
The price should be $30-40
If you don't want to pay salon prices, you can always buy bows on amazon and nail glue.

zoe

I've recently had my nails done and I'd really like to have a. 3D bow on my ring finger nail I've found one that I want was wondering if I purchased them how do I attach it??? Bearing in mind I'm not a nail tech thanks

Answer
All you do is apply a dot of topcoat on your nail wherever you want to put the bow then apply the bow with pressure, holding in place for a few seconds and it should stick! If you want to make sure it stays you might want to put an extra coating of topcoat to your whole nail!!

About an hour of massage (from the foot to the knee).
Nail art (small flowers) on each toe with glitter that took about 20 minutes. (So about an hour and a half total time).

How much would it cost in the US/UK?

I had ONE pedicure in the US and it was $30 for 10 minutes of crap. The massage consisted of only one color and they gave me an infection on my foot.

(I'll write in the best answer what I paid for this pedi).
"The massage was only one color" lol, sorry. I meant to say the nail art was only one color (solid hue).

Answer
I'd say from about $56-$60.
Very cute, BTW. :) Luv it

what is art?

pooja b

Answer
Depends on who you ask. In most cases it's whatever people will pay way too much for no matter the level of skill, intent, comment, or whatever.

I know someone who won a major award for nailing a cheap frame to the board he used to ink print plates on. He just entered it for fun. He doesn't think it's art. He thinks it funny as heck that well respected critics do.

Personally, I think art is that which captures the beauty in human condition. I also think that beauty can be found in even the most horrific of situations. Even, and, often, especially the ugliest things can be beautiful. It's just that which moves the viewer. It can be terrifying, painful, distressing, objectionable, and, even, out-right traumatizing. These things are as beautiful as the things that are inspire love, joy, lust, and humour.

Peaceful sunsets and placid landscapes or seascapes are not art to me. Lovely little still-lives with apples and pears and a glass of wine are not art. There is no passion there. They are really just studies. They are great ways to develop skills but offer nothing of the human condition. They belong in mid-priced hotels, dentist's, doctor's, and lawyer's offices. They fill space and don't offend.

Most "modern" and abstract art is the same. It's just using colour and images to create safe pictures for the very same industries as above. They just cost more because when you have no clue what you're looking at it simply MUST be worth more.

Sometimes the best art can be the most controversial art. It's the kind you look at and have to look away because it is just that disturbing. It is beautiful because it conveys that emotion that perfectly. It's not pretty but it makes you feel.

Art makes you feel something and makes you feel it really strongly. You don't have to make sense of it. You don't have to understand it. You certainly don't have to like it. You just have to feel it and that is what makes it a work of pure beauty.

Sorry for my bad english ^^

Answer
Vanya, this is what helped me and I thought my nails were hopeless.

Over a year and a half ago my doctor advised me to take Vitamin E for my badly picked and bitten nails. I was ready to try anything, believe me! This worked beyond my wildest dreams! My nails are strong and healthy and ugly deformed bumps on my thumb nails disappeared. Now they grow and grow fast! I use a rectangular nail block to keep them a good length (no talons for me!) and I pamper them with good hand lotion and cuticle cream. I use Develop 10, from Amazon, which is a great strengthener as well as being a shiny clear polish that can be reapplied every few days. One trick that I found on my own is a real winner - I clasp my hands together while watching TV, sometimes massaging in hand cream at the same time. I also have worry stones (from eBay), inexpensive but beautiful smooth stones to rub when stressed) all over the place - in my purse or pocket, on the nightstand, near my couch, and a bowl of them as decor on the coffee table! I check for rough spots or snags on my nails regularly and go after them with the nail block so that no breakage will occur. I even use the nail block for dry, hard places on the skin around my nails, leaving nothing to bite or pick. I am very satisfied to have, finally, a routine that works!

NOTE: Also, you will need to push back your cuticles so you don't get painful hangnails. Soak your nails in warm soapy water for a few minutes to soften them. You can get orange sticks at any drugstore. Put a bit of cotton on the end and push the cuticles back gently.

"An orange stick is basically a catch all tool in the world of nail art and nail care maintenance. They have a variety of more or less unrelated uses that can come in handy. One side of the stick has a pointed end, while the other has a flat angled shape similar to a flat head screw driver. Both sides have a variety of applications. They cost very little. For example:

- Use the pointed end to clean under the free edge at the end of a treatment. If you do this, you should discard the orange stick afterwards as a safety precaution.

- The angled end can be used to even out the cuticle, smoothing out any irregularities. This is basically an alternative to using a hoof stick.

- These sticks can be a great tool for cleaning up parts of the skin that have been touched with nail polish. If the polish is still wet, you can just use a plain stick to remove it. If the polish is still dry, try dipping the stick in nail polish remover first.

- This can be a great tool to use during practice. Attach a plastic tip to the end of the stick and then hold the stick in place while applying an overlay or nail art design.

Each order of orange sticks that you place with us comes in a resealable, easy to store plastic bag containing ten sticks."

Best of luck to you, Vanya! There IS hope!

What do sealents do for your teeth? What are veneers? How do they put them on your teeth?

MRose

I'm thinking about getting sealents because i just had my third cavity filled, and it makes me mad that im getting cavities, because i take really good care of my teeth.

so what are the benifits of sealents, but im not completely sure of what they are. whats the difference between them and veneers?

will sealents help prevent cavities? is it worth it to get them? how do they put them on? my dentist said something about drilling... but i could have been mistaken.

Answer
A dental sealant is a thin plastic film painted on the chewing surfaces of molars and premolars (the teeth directly in front of the molars). Sealants have been shown to be highly effective in the prevention of cavities. They were developed through dental research in the 1950s and first became available commercially in the early 1970s. The first sealant was accepted by the American Dental Association Council on Dental Therapeutics in 1972.

How effective are sealants?
Scientific studies have proven that properly applied sealants are 100 percent effective in protecting the tooth surfaces from caries. Because sealants act as a physical barrier to decay, protection is determined by the sealants' ability to adhere to the tooth. As long as the sealant remains intact, small food particles and bacteria that cause cavities cannot penetrate through or around a sealant. In fact, research has shown that sealants actually stop cavities when placed on top of a slightly decayed tooth by sealing off the supply of nutrients to the bacteria that causes a cavity. Sealant protection is reduced or lost when part or all of the bond between the tooth and sealant is broken. However, clinical studies have shown that teeth that have lost sealants are no more susceptible to tooth decay than teeth that were never sealed.

How are sealants applied?
Sealant application involves cleaning the surface of the tooth and rinsing the surface to remove all traces of the cleaning agent. An etching solution or gel is applied to the enamel surface of the tooth, including the pits and grooves. After 15 seconds, the solution is thoroughly rinsed away with water. After the site is dried, the sealant material is applied and allowed to harden by using a special curing light. Other sealants are applied and allowed to harden much the same way nail polish is applied to fingernails. Sealant treatment is painless and could take anywhere from five to 45 minutes to apply, depending on how many teeth need to be sealed. Sealants must be applied properly for good retention.

How long will a sealant last?
Sealants should last five years, but can last as long as 10 years. One study reported that seven years after application, an impressive 49 percent of treated teeth were still completely covered. Sealants should not be considered permanent. Regular dental check-ups are necessary to monitor the sealants' bond to the tooth.

Who should receive sealant treatment?
Children, because they have newly erupted, permanent teeth, receive the greatest benefit from sealants. The chewing surfaces of a child's teeth are most susceptible to cavities and the least benefitted by fluoride. Surveys show that approximately two-thirds of all cavities occur in the narrow pits and grooves of a child's newly erupted teeth because food particles and bacteria cannot be cleaned out. Other patients also can benefit from sealant placement, such as those who have existing pits and grooves susceptible to decay. Research has shown that almost everybody has a 95 percent chance of eventually experiencing cavities in the pits and grooves of their teeth.

Are sealants covered by insurance?
Although insurance benefits for sealant procedures have increased considerably, coverage is still minimal. The trend is toward expanded coverage of this benefit, especially as companies start to realize that sealants are a proven preventive technique. This preventive measure can help reduce future dental expenses and protect the teeth from more aggressive forms of treatment.

Dental veneers (sometimes called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size or length.

Dental veneers can be made from porcelain or from resin composite materials. Porcelain veneers resist stains better than resin veneers and better mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth. Resin veneers are thinner and require removal of less of the tooth surface before placement. You will need to discuss the best choice of veneer material for you with your dentist.

What Types of Problems Do Dental Veneers Fix?

Veneers are routinely used to fix:

Teeth that are discolored â either because of root canal treatment; stains from tetracycline or other drugs, excessive fluoride or other causes; or the presence of large resin fillings that have discolored the tooth
Teeth that are worn down
Teeth that are chipped or broken
Teeth that are misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped (for example, have craters or bulges in them)
Teeth with gaps between them (to close the space between these teeth)
What's the Procedure for Getting a Dental Veneer?

The procedure usually requires three trips to the dentist â one for a consultation and two to make and apply the veneers. One tooth or many teeth can simultaneously undergo the veneering process described below.

Diagnosis and treatment planning. This first step involves active participation between you and your dentist. Explain to your dentist the result that you are trying to achieve. During this appointment your dentist will examine your teeth to make sure dental veneers are appropriate for you and discuss what the procedure will involve and some of its limitations. He or she also may take X-rays and possibly make impressions of your mouth and teeth.
Preparation. To prepare a tooth for a veneer, your dentist will remove about ½ millimeter of enamel from the tooth surface, which is an amount nearly equal to the thickness of the veneer to be added to the tooth surface. Before trimming off the enamel, you and your dentist will decide the need for a local anesthetic to numb the area. Next, your dentist will make a model or impression of your tooth. This model is sent out to a dental laboratory, which in turn constructs your veneer. It usually takes 1 to 2 weeks for your dentist to receive the veneers back from the laboratory. For very unsightly teeth, temporary dental veneers can be placed for an additional cost.
Bonding. Before the dental veneer is permanently cemented to your tooth, your dentist will temporarily place it on your tooth to examine its fit and color. He or she will repeatedly remove and trim the veneer as needed to achieve the proper fit; the veneer color can be adjusted with the shade of cement to be used. Next, to prepare your tooth to receive the veneer, your tooth will be cleaned, polished and etched â which roughens the tooth to allow for a strong bonding process. A special cement is applied to the veneer and the veneer is then placed on your tooth. Once properly position on the tooth, your dentist will apply a special light beam to the dental veneer, which activates chemicals in the cement causing it to harden or cure very quickly. The final steps involve removing any excess cement, evaluating your bite and making any final adjustments in the veneer as necessary. Your dentist may ask you to return for a follow-up visit in a couple of weeks to check how your gums are responding to the presence of your veneer and to once again examine the veneer's placement.
What Are the Advantages of Dental Veneers?

Veneers offer the following advantages:

They provide a natural tooth appearance.
Gum tissue tolerates porcelain well.
Porcelain veneers are stain resistant.
The color of a porcelain veneer can be selected such that it makes dark teeth appear whiter.
Veneers offer a conservative approach to changing a tooth's color and shape-veneers generally don't require the extensive shaping prior to the procedure that crowns do, yet offer a stronger, more aesthetic alternative to bonding.
What Are the Disadvantages of Dental Veneers?

The downside to dental veneers include:

The process is not reversible.
Veneers are more costly than composite resin bonding.
Veneers are usually not repairable should they chip or crack.
Because enamel has been removed, your tooth may become more sensitive to hot and cold foods and beverages.
Veneers may not exactly match the color of your other teeth. Also, the veneer's color cannot be altered once in place. If you plan on whitening your teeth, you need to do so before getting veneers.
Though not likely, veneers can dislodge and fall off. To minimize the chance of this occurring, do not bite your nails; chew on pencils, ice, or other hard objects; or otherwise put pressure on your teeth.
Teeth with veneers can still experience decay, possibly necessitating full coverage of the tooth with a crown.
Veneers are not a good choice for individuals with unhealthy teeth (for example, those with decay or active periodontal disease), weakened teeth (as a result of decay, fracture, large dental fillings) or for those who have an inadequate amount of existing enamel on the tooth surface.
Individuals who clench and grind their teeth are poor candidates for porcelain veneers, as these activities can cause the veneers to crack or chip.
How Long Do Dental Veneers Last?

Veneers generally last between 5 and 10 years. After this time, the veneers would need to be replaced.

Do Dental Veneers Require Special Care?

No. Continue to follow good oral hygiene practices including brushing and flossing as you normally would.

Even though porcelain veneers resist stains, your dentist may recommend that you avoid stain-causing foods and beverages (for example, coffee, tea or red wine).

Are There Alternatives to Dental Veneers?

Yes, bondings and crowns. Veneers offer a nice intermediate option. Veneers may be best suited for individuals who want to change the shape of their teeth more than just a little bit-as is done with bonding-but not enough to require a crown.

How Much Do Veneers Cost?

Costs vary depending on what part of the country you live in and on the extent of your procedure. Generally, veneers range in cost from $500 to $1300 per tooth. The cost of veneers is not generally covered by insurance. To be certain, check with your specific dental insurance company.

Do any LONGtime office workers remember this office product?

A small but bright intense pink bottle, much like a bottle of nail polish with a brush on the inside of lid, found in your desk drawer and used on typeface on either electric typewriters or manual typewriters? Bright highlighting fluid (or possibly ink remover) made of some kind of solvent that stank like nail polish remover? Circa 1970s?

I'm doing research for a scene in my novel and that bright pink bottle is in the story but for the life of me I can't remember what the stuff was called or who made it.

Help please! Thanks!
It definitely wasn't white-out. This was something other than white-out. It might have been highlighter fluid before they figured out how to put it in marker form like a jiffy marker.
I think it was made by Dixon, the same company that made Taperaser, which was like white-out in a carbon paper form that you stuck between the keys and the typed paged and retyped over. Semi-clear BRIGHT pink bottle, possible containing BRIGHT pink fluid? Still not sold on the white-out answers unless someone can find me a pic of the BRIGHT pink 1970s white-out bottle because that would help a LOT.
Or maybe Avery Dennison?

Answer
Yep, it was Wite-Out, a BIC product (the BIC folks make all the pens and stuff.) A very useful product. It had several different labels, because they designed it for several uses as technology required. They had a different version for copier toner.

One day, the Facilities guys came through and removed all of the bottles from everyone's desk. It was considered a hazardous waste product that would lead to lawsuits. It was replaced with the slower-drying water-based version.

The web site for their currently marketed versions of correcting products is here: http://www.wite-out.com/

also, if i was to apply them using the glue given in the manicure pack, how long would they last??
thanks guys!

Answer
Nails have been an important attribute of woman's beauty. Gradually, the procedure of taking care about nails has become an initial part of our life with its rules and fashion. Today, manicure and pedicure are health and cosmetic procedures of cleaning, polishing, and coloring nails. It is done with cuticle and nail scissors, nail pincers and a lot of other special tools. To color the nails, nail varnish is used.

The history of nail art has gone a long path, which differs from country to country. In many regions of Asia, the very long nails have for a long time been not only popular but also necessary. In many African countries long nails have been an indicator of the magic power. West European women have taken this nail fashion over.

With the increase of fashion and beauty standards during the last 20 years false nails of different types have gained many supporters. The first of the artificial nails types were acrylic nails. Some time later gel nails were introduced. Now they are the most popular artificial nails types worn by millions of women all over the world.

There are two basic methods of fastening false nails. Each of them is used for the certain of the two nails types. Nail extensions are a professional service provided by manicurists. So, your first step to beautiful nails is your step into one of the manicure salons of your location. There you will be offered to choose among the variety of colors, shapes and nails types.

As long as color, length and shape are the matter of your individual preference, there is something to know about artificial nails materials. There are two permanent false nails types: acrylic and gel. Acrylic nails are fastened by putting a thin layer of the material over the natural nail. Special mould is then put over the nail to provide the proper shape, and after the mould is taken away a false nail is put on.

Depending on the chosen method different stuff may be used to paste the false nails. Dry "acryl blend" and "ethy-methacrylate" are the most wide-spread stuff for fastening acrylic nails. It congeals within 30-40 seconds after application.

Acrylic material can be cleaned after twenty minutes by special cleaners. Gel nails congeal under special rays and need much more time. Gel nails are also more expensive but they are considered to be more reliable and less harmful type.

Before the introduction of acrylic and gel false nails types, many women used adaptable false nails that could not hold on for a long time without re-gluing. This kind of false nails is still used, mainly because it can be put on promptly and easily, and don't demand a manicure-maker services. All the false nails types are available at different colors and tones, and often contain different depictions and patterns. In addition, most of the permanent false nails types can be re-colored many times.

Women around the world have already become certain of numerous advantages of artificial nails. They are much firmer than natural nails and you do not need to use special preparations like base coat hardeners and strengthening lacquers to improve them. However, before false nails application your natural nails are cut, so you will need to pass through the nail-lengthening procedure every time you break one of your false nails, and approximately once a month when your nails grow. Otherwise, your hands will have a terrible look.

Together with their advantages, artificial nails present certain dangers. They damage natural nails and much time is needed for complete recovery even after false nails are removed. Besides, both nails-lengthening procedure and artificial nails wearing may cause not only slight damage but also nails diseases.

Therefore, nails, especially the long ones and those damaged by the application of false nails of different nails types, must be treated with care. In addition to aesthetic problems, nails can be affected by nails diseases. Sometimes nails damages and manicure cuts and wounds grow into medical problems, and professional medical help must be provided then. If a nail gets chemical or mechanic trauma, or is hit with an infection, operation is usually needed. The operation is always made under anesthetization at hospital. So, if you notice some problems with your nails or fingers, visit a doctor as soon as possible.

Nails are not only a pretty attribute of an image. They indicate their owner's status, a way of life and even some personal features. Tidy and well-groomed nails are an essential detail of a "real lady's" get-up.

depending on where you go, anywhere from £15-£40. the better the salon, the better the equipment and technitians. mobile technitians might charge more for there travel costs if they do home calls. the price of nail art is where it can get ridiculous. i saw a salon advertise £1 for rhinestones per nail. thats £10 for a single tiny rhinestone that actually cost £2 for 10 000 of them. seriously try to rob you!!

help! it's about nail stamper. really easy to answer. please help:(?

Jaqueline

everyone keeps saying that i can buy a nail stamper with scraper at sally's beauty supply, but when i got there, they said they don't sell them. please tell me were i can buy one or why they don't have it. mabey i said it wrong, is it a nail stamper, or nail stencil? how does the package look like. please don't say any ONLINE places to buy them. i'm not allowed to buy things online.please help:(
i did go to walmart and the other one but they only have nail art pens and nail stickers, and nail polishes

Answer
They may have misunderstood and thought you meant stencils, because Sally does have stencils in their equipment book, the kind you would use for airbrushing :)

As for why they don't have stamps.... Last year when I still worked there I actually introduced my boss, DM, TM, and a VP to nail stamping, and even though I could actually show them how popular it was among nail polish addicts and how popular I thought they'd be, I think they ended up deciding that there just wouldn't be enough demand to start dealing in them. Sally's usually a little late to catch on to trends, hehe. I think they JUST now started carrying hair feathers, heh.

Aaanyhoo... for the kind of stamps you're looking for, I have only seen them in one store, and unfortunately it was a little one-off dollar store kind of shop in Los Angeles. A few years ago, I saw that some were available at Ulta stores, but I can't find them on the website anymore. If you call around to outlet stores, mini-malls, and independent beauty supply stores, you might get lucky :)

I see that getting them online is not an option for you, and I don't know if that's due to your age, location, or another reason, but if there was any way that maybe someone could get them for you or something, it opens up so many opportunities to get them. [Yahoo doesn't like the link I tried to use, but if you go to Amazon and look up bundlemonster, that's the set I have and I love it, it's a great deal :)]

Edit - oops, to answer your other question, if it is a set that includes the stamp and scraper, it will most likely be in a box like this - http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/202/essnailartstampy01allne.png/sr=1 , or packaged like this - http://i01.i.aliimg.com/photo/v0/104311781/Nail_Stamp_Art_DIY_Kit_Nail_Art.jpg . If it's just the plates, they'll look like this - http://blog.esthersnc.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/nail-stamp-plate.jpg

Nail art using acrylic paint?

Lotus

Okay so I have been wanting to try doing some nail art using acrylic paint like the kind from the arts and crafts store. The question I have is for those of you who do this kind of nail art, what is the best brand/kind of acrylic paint to buy for nail art?

All answers are appreciated, thank you!

Answer
well i had acrylic paint in the tubes, i suggest not getting those, I actually bought a 30 pack of little containers of acrylic paint from Walmart for like $10.... YouTube Robin moses nail art, she is amazing, and thats where I got the idea to do acrylic nail art, also I found a website called, nailartgallery.nailsmag.com its almost like a facebook for nail art. And also, when you paint the design, its going to look dull, but once you put a top coat of nail polish over it it will be shinny :) I bought the little containers, because i wanted to experiment with them before i invested in buying the big containers, and the little ones are actually lasting me a long time.... good luck :) if you go on that website, look for me EmerysMom1024...

Is nail polish safe during pregnancy?

nuni

I paint my nails about once a week. I never get them done at a salon. i usually use OPI products. I do it in a spacious room with an open window and do not inhale more than necessary. I am not sure if the nail polish I use has any bad chemicals like formaldehyde or toluene, and I think my remover is acetone-based. I have been worried lately - Can this really harm the baby, or is it safe in moderation? I am near the end of my first trimester.

Answer
im thinking ur good as long as ur not huffing it. But we do today have a lot of problems they didn't have way back when. nail polish and gas fumes. You know what i mean.l who knows what really affects us. I think ur ok but if you feel convicted of it maybe you should stop. Listen to your inner spirit is much more accurate than humans. I painted my nails regularly and my daughter as soon as she got nails. But i wasn't concerned either.

Is it harmful to my baby to paint my toenails/ fingernails while pregnant?

Yes, nailpolish is harmful when you are pregnant because the chemicals in it can enter your system and therefore harm the baby. Read this article for the details:

Nail polish on wicker?

Jen

I was doing my nail on the table and I put a paper towel down on it. So when I did it a glob of blue nail Polish went on the white wicker table. My sister put nail polish remover on it and it smudged. Also I put hand sanitizer on it and nothing go off. Is there a way to get it off please HELP!!

Answer
check the brand of nail polish, and their choice of remover,

the problem with real acetone nail polish remover, ids that it would melt away paint on wicker wood, and possibly dry out the wood if touched,

you may try non acetone version of nail polish remove, but by the time you remove heavy stains, then lighter areas may wear down to wood,

that is where you would need touch up paint to repair area,
if you can gradually pamper away blur tinge, you may not have to repaint,
if you do need to repaint, search for base spray coat of similar off white and resurface,
tape of around whole seat, and lightly coat once or twice,

How do i take this off my car seats!!! Please help!?

Nichole

Somehow nail polish got on my black leather seats in my car, im worried about ruining it more by taking it off the wrong way.. Whats the best way to take it off my seats without completely wrecking it? Please help!

Answer
Nail polish remover will almost certainly remove the colour from the seat along with the nail polish which in effect has recoloured the leather.
You need to have this removed by a leather technician so that he can also recolour the area if necessary. DIY products rarely work without damage to the leather.

Hope this helps

What are some cute fingernail designs?

devon

Our church is having a program tonight for vbs and i would like to paint my nails. My nails are short. Im 14 yrs old and would like a cute, do it yourself idea for my nails. I have a lot of different colors too. Any ideas???

Answer
Here are some ideas from Seventeen readers:
http://www.seventeen.com/hair-skin-makeup/best-tips/diy-nail-designs

Describes adding rhinestones and other stuff to nails:
http://esthersnc.com/articles/fun-polish-tips.html

This might give you some inspirations:
http://www.thenaildirectory.com/nailart-photos.html

What I like to do to my nails is a watermelon style.

- clean nails
- put on protective layer, let dry
- in a zig zag motion put on watermelon color from cuticle to tips, don't cover entire nail, let dry
- put protective layer again

Or for a cool effect you could put a little watermelon color on your nails and before it dries, put on the protective layer, and it'll look like water with pink in it. Like watermelon. ^^

How can i decorate my room without spending money?

miss lyss

OK well im 14 i have a kinda small room and almost no money to use but i want to have a kool room so any suggestions??

Answer
If you can sew you can be very creative. Get your mom to help. You can take your favorite sheet sets and cut them straight down the middle. Sew the edges down and fold the top down, leaving an opening wide enough for a rod, and stitch it across and place a curtain rod through and you have curtains that match your favorite bedding.

Paint your walls your favorite color. If you have silk scarves (for a girl) drape one over your lamp shade for a dramatic effect. Get a small cork board and mount it on your wall with nails or screws, and then post your favorite cards, and pictures, and daily reminders. You can paint the inside of your bedroom door or closet door with black board paint, and use it to create different thoughts for the day, titles of your favorite songs, or messages to your mom or siblings in brightly colored chalks. If you make it a mistake, you can always erase.

If you are a boy, go to a tire shop and ask them if they can give you about three old tires. Stack and glue them together with some liquid adhesive, and then place a round or square piece of wood or plywood on top. Paint it for an unusual nite stand.

Look around in your basement or garage for things that you can use in your space. Old wood items, or unused furniture, old magazaines, old album covers, or old dolls, or miniature cars, or action figures, area rugs, and incorporate them in your space.

If you do not have an area rug group 3 small rugs together with hook and loop velcro, and last but not least you could use duct tape to mesh the rugs together. Every household has duct tape.

Look for picture frames that are not being used, find some pictures in old magazines, or frame an album cover for wall art.

If you are a girl and have a lot of old costume jewlrey, mismatched earrings, ....etc. Get some thin jewlrey wire and twist together earrings and old beads from necklaces and make mobiles and hang them infront of your window. Make a mobile out of your miniatures, or action figures.

Be creative! Good luck.

Dead school girl....HELP!!!?

Q. hi for halloween im going as a dead school girl i already have ripped up tights a skirt, shoes and im going to find my blouse.i need help with make up though.i have already got a white base and i have nail varnish and usual make up like eyeliner, mascara etc. the way i died is i was murdered and tortured(.e.g.burns,bruises,cuts).i need to know how to make fake bruising.is there a way you can make fake bruising using household things and also can you make fake bruising by using normal makeup (eyeshadow, lip gloss etc.)i need it to look real and i need to know .a.s.a.p thanks Xx

Answer
A very simple way to make realistic fake bruises using household items:

Items:
-Markers (not permanent ones or it will be a PAIN to remove, if the bruises are supposed to resist the elements then you might want to consider it)
-Toilet paper
-Water
-Hairdryer
-Your fingers

Bruises differ in color, texture and general appearance based on the person and the way they happened. Since you mentioned torture i will give you the method for bruises made using a blunt object and with severe strength.

1) Get a red marker and paint your fingers, then smudge it until its completely dry. Repeat in this color until entire area is a light red/dark pink color and you cant see your skin tone anymore.

2) Take the purple marker and draw a little line in the middle of your red area. smudge that in. Instead of making one dark dot before smudging, make many light stripes to make it blend more and give it a realistic feeling. Just don't get too carried away. Remember, we're not making an art project out of your arm/leg/what ever. We're trying to make it look like a real bruise.

3) Wet some toilet paper and press over the bruise to help the colors blend in better and give it a more realistic look.

4) Set the hairdryer to hot and point at the "bruise" until its dry to avoid screwing it all up.

Tip: If you want to give the bruises different tones just play around with the colors (shadows of blue/gray go great and even a slight tip of green can give it a rather unrealistic but gross effect!). If you want to make some of them look like they started to heal just add some yellow to it in the end (no more colors after that!).

Hope it helped and well... happy bruising =P

A Case for My Nail Polish?

lucy lu

I am recently getting into nail design, and I am buying tons of nail polish, brushes, embellishments and so on. I would like to have a case to put them all in and keep them organized, kinda like those big cases they have for make-up, but I can't seem to find one anywhere!!! If you guys know a place where I could possibly find one (in-store or on-line) that would be so great!!!

Thanks :)

Answer
target carries the caboodles line-they have very cute train cases

http://www.folica.com/Cosmetic_B_111_1.html

also a lot of makeup gurus store their polish in clear shoe boxes. definitely not as cute as a train case but cheaper.

http://www.containerstore.com/shop/closet/shoeStorage/shelf?productId=10000103

or sterlite has some at walmart/target

or if you'd prefer to display them, amazon carries the display racks
