Kiss brand or So Easy Stripe Rite brand?
For those of you that are confused striping polish has a very thin brush for designs.

Im due for some new striping polish and don't know which is a better buy. If you have a better suggestion please share.

Answer
So Easy Stripe Rite brand is probably the best brand. So Easy Stripe Rite brand has a thin brush that you can hardly ever mess up and it cames in a lot of different beautiful bright colors. I get a lot of great comments on my nails and people sometimes ask "Where did you get your nails done?" and i say " I did them myself ". If you ask me I say that So Easy Stripe Rite brand is the best but its up to you.

Decorating my room? Easy, cheap stuff for a 13 year old girl!?

Kyndell. <

Hello.
My room is very plain. I have paneling walls & a drop celing with wood flooring. I have one window, it is just a plain blue curtain but I already have ideas about what to do about that- run strips of fabric down it. My bed has a comfiter. It can be white [its reversible]. I want my room to be about horses [even tho that I can be a girly girl]. We just moved around 3 months ago. I need do it your self or cheap projects. I can sew & use a hot glue gun, my dad can do simple wood-working. What is a good idea for a shoe rack? For about 10-15 pairs. Cheaper to buy it or make it? Also, my desk is a reck! I am homeschooled & I use my desk a lot, I am forced to use my laptop on my bed. How to organize it? There is 4 diff. sized note pads. 1 big calander. 2 pen holders [need both]. ringing bell [dont really need but, best place for it], books(only ones reading & info on pets), tape, stapler, alarm clock, horse pics, envelopes, bible, phone, computer games. Also, I need to add details
I have 2 big closets--yet they seem very small...
In the 1st closet I have a dresser-off seanson clothes, bras, panties, & socks. I also have my horse-show stuff in there. I have a 3 wheel cart, for my model horse showing. I have a tube of stuff I don't know what do to with.

Closet #2
All my hanging up clothes.
1 Tub of stuff that I dont know to do with.
baskets of scrapbooking stuff.
shoes, shoes & more shoes.
hair stuff.

WHAT CAN I DO WITH THIS STUFF?

Also, I have about 20 extra hangers-normally. But, sometimes I use them...where should I store them, besides just hanging them on the rack?
Also, I have Wallies-prepasted paper cutouts. They are horses, should I use them?

Answer
wow you seem alot like me. i just moved in my place oct. 03(just moved my last box out today!)have a tendency to pile junk and pens all over my desk plus i was homeschooled for 4 years just i'm five years older. my room is organized but now i need to decorate it.i go for a very boemian style uses stuff i have(i'm a huge pack rat).i'm going to drape my ceilings with velvet like fabric and since i can't paint my walls i drape fabric all over too.( i use small nails called ooks). 1 thing don't use too much of your money. use alot what you have-its important to keep the fun up -thats half the reason 2 start. that shoe rack if you got the materials make it your self. i bought a shoe organizer for i think uh 15 $.it hangs from the ceiling, door and wall.its called perfect curve shoe organizer. it holds 10 pairs. i haven't used it but seems good. i bought it because i have not a lot of spare room. now again if you can make your own and use your creativity its worth it.i decorate my room from alot of hand me downs.i have two beautiful paintings that someone took from where the garbage pile was.they wanted to paint over the paintings.I said no! now i have 2 paintings of original art and i didn't pay a dime. anyway enough of my babblings-just know be creative, don't waste to much money-spoils the fun.Don't panic. At least pile everything together books with books, pens with pens, papers of school with papers with school, personal papers with pesonal paper so on abd so on. Breathe i know what it is to be in a organization wreck. Berfore i went onb vaction i had to spend from 1 am to 9am cleaning a mess i hoared for years in the basement. then i had to pack. well the moral of the story is i carried out 14 bags of junk to the garbage & i'm still alive. okay i need to shut up...

where can i get the opi shatter nail polish besides at salons?

Julia

i really want the opi shatter nail polish but i don't want to go to a salon or something to get it and i don't want to order it offline i would rather get it in person and i was wondering if places like target have it or cvs or walgreens have it... if you have any suggestions please say them... thanks!

Answer
You can buy it anywhere you can buy OPI polishes that regularly come out with the new collections (so even though Target sells OPI, you won't find the new collection there. And no, Sally's, Sephora, and MAC do NOT sell OPI). You can buy it at Ulta, JC Penney salons, Trade Secret, or possibly some salons near you. Recently, OPI sent out another batch of these polishes. My Ulta was totally stocked last time I was there. You can also go to OPIs website (www.OPI.com) and in the top right corner is a "Where to Buy" link.
If you cannot find it, China Glaze has a line of 6 different colors of crackle polish (black, teal, pink, grey, purple, white). You can buy them at Sally's, though they might be sold out as well because they had more colors than just black. You might be able to find these online, too.
There are also other brands besides OPI and China Glaze that have crackle polishes. You'll have better luck searching with the name Crackle as opposed to Shatter. Crackle polishes actually came out back in the 90s by CoverGirl. OPI just renamed it to "shatter".
Some other brands that sell crackles are LaRosa, IsaDora, and Barry M. Also know that OPI is releasing several more crackles in different colors in the coming months.

Shatter nail polish quEstions?

Nya

I'm new to this Whole shatter polish thing so I was wondering the following things:
-where can I get them?
-how much do they cost?
-what's the best brand
-can I wear them over any nail Polish ?
Thanks a lot !!!!

Answer

How much do they cost?
Black Shatter costs the regular $8.50 that other OPI's cost (apart from the DS). China Glaze Crackles cost about $6.

What's the best brand?
Having both the OPI and China Glaze ones, I prefer China Glaze because I like the crackle effect it gives more (there's not a huge difference, though), and I find the China Glaze crackle easier to work with. (And FYI, Black Shatter was actually first released with the Serena Williams collection).

Can you wear them over any polish?
Yup!! Any color, brand, finish. Doesn't have to be OPI, and doesn't just have to be the Serena Williams or Katy Perry collections. The insert that comes with it says to put it over an OPI polish, but that's just OPI trying to promote their brand. It works just the same putting it over other brands as it does over OPI.

Where may I find neon nail polish?

Thank you!

Essence glow in the dark nail polish without blacklight?

Desiree

I've just bought a nail polish by Essence. It very clearly states on the front that it's glow in the dark nail polish, right? Well if you look at the back you can see in the smallest font possible that it only glows in blacklight. That's not what I was looking for. Is there an alternative to making my nails "glow" with this polish? If not, what's the alternative?

Answer
You can always try it in the dark, just to test it out. Black light nail polishes aren't as impressive as they sound, though, because most white, light and neon polishes glow under black light.
There are a couple different choices. Claire's sell many colours, and you can often get some when they have 10 for $10 sales. Hop topic also has some, as does Julep, Icing, and a brand that I can't think of, but always has lots available at discount stores like TJ Maxx, Winners and the likes.
If your patient, there are plenty on sale after Halloween. OPI, Wet N' Wild and China Glaze come to mind.
Good luck and happy painting!

how to make nail polish dry faster?

Solipsisti

Answer
Once your nail polish is partially dry, run it under cold water for about 30 seconds. It should dry faster. Or you could just get Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Drops, which work pretty well too

Hope I helped :)

If You Stick Just-Painted Nails In Cold Water Will It...?

Savannah

I'm going to be doing checkered nails and it's like a one-hour process,so I need my nails to dry fast. I have to apply a two coats of base, two coats of nail polish, two coats of base again,Sharpie, then a base coat. I read somewhere that if you run your fingers in cold water,it'll dry it faster. Do it really do that? Wouldn't it smear the nail polish because of the pressure?
I didn't want it chipping off, because I have OCD and I flip out if it isn't perfect (yeah I'm fun to be around in a dirty room xD) so I didn't want it chipping like the first day. Like an hour after,it's already chipped, haha,so that's why :P
But I'll do what @Andrea said.

Answer
Let them dry for about 1 minute and then stick them in a bowl of cold water, not under the sink.

Why do nail salons use UV lights to help polish dry?

ET

Answer
the uv lights rapidly and completely dry the polish. They use them to avoid you getting your nails messed up. OR in the case of the relatively new trend of UV GEL polishes, the uv light cures the gel and makes it pretty much permanent. It doesn't chip or come off at all without a soak in acetone.

Hope I helped. :)

Gel nail polish without UV light?

jerseygirl

Is there any brand of gel nail polish where you don't have to use UV light?

Answer
Any normal nail polish. What I'm trying to say is no. Gel polishes need the UV light to "cure" the polish or it wont dry.

Essie vs. Sally Hansen Nail Polish?

BB

I usually buy Sally Hansen nail polishes because, in my opinion, it's good quality and fairly cheap at $4.00. I know that the Essie nail polishes are really popular, but are they really worth $10+? Are they any better than Sally Hansen?

Answer
I have always used Essie nail polishes and have always been pleased with them. Essie has a variety of so many beautiful colors. Essie nail polishes tend to last longer on your nails and last a long time before they start chipping. I highly recommend Essie nail polish and i think it is worth the price.

What do you think of essie nail polish?

<3

I'm thinking of getting some but I've never used good nail polish i always used to cheap drugstore brands and I'm getting sick of them, I know about OPI but long story short I can't get them for several reasons, i might after but right now im focusing on essies, so im really liking the colors online, how is the quality, what are pros and cons? would you recommend them?

Answer
I want to start by saying that each nail polish is different. Not brand, but polish. Some of my favorite polishes are cheap polishes, one that comes to mind in particular is Essence Choose Me! It's 99 cents and beautiful. You can find great quality nail polishes cheap as well. Sally Hansen is phenomenal for drug store polishes. Those who buy only "salon polish" are truly missing out, and I feel sorry that they think that because it's more expensive that it's better quality. Nail polish is it's own creature and expensive certainly does not mean better. I'm saying this with the experience of having tried everything from cheap essence polishes to Chanel. Most of my collection consists of Orly polishes because I have found I consistently love their formula, color, and finish selection, also because they're easily available. And their price is fine for me - $5-$7.

Choose polish based on the individual polish, not the brand. If it's a color and finish that you just love, buy it! If it's a regular pink or red creme, you can buy those in any brand and I suggest a cheaper brand purely because those colors are so common. Specifically with Essie, they do a LOT of sheer colors and neutral colors. That's their thing. If you like that, then go for it! I haven't had any major problems with their formula being particularly streaky or anything. But seriously, watch out for sheers. If it looks like a pretty pastel pink in the bottle, it may show up as next to nothing on the nail. This doesn't mean the quality is bad, it's just what Essie intended.

Before you buy polish, you can always use google and search "*polish brand* *color name* swatch". So an example would be "Essie Mint Candy Apple Swatch". There are many, many nail polish bloggers that will show you swatches of the color on nails, and tell you about the formula. You can also use sites like nailgal.com that are filled with swatches of different polishes and you can look for a specific polish in their search.

If you're concerned about chipping and wear, many people don't realize the significance and importance of a good top and base coat. I don't know if you're using a base and top coat, but if you're not, you need to. You need a combination of both, and you can make almost any nail polish last for a week+. They also certainly help prevent yellowing or staining to the nails. Here are some of the best top and base coats on the market:

Top Coats:
Seche Vite
Poshe
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri

Base Coats:
CND Stickey
Barielle (there are several different ones)
Gelous
Orly Bonder
I personally use Sally Hansen Double Duty Top and Base Coat (ONLY as a base coat) and I love it.

Top and Base Coat set:
Zoya's Color Lock System is becoming VERY popular, and a lot of other nail fanatics are swearing by it.

The other thing is WRAP YOUR TIPS!! Wrapping will REALLY help prevent chipping. Wrap every layer you use from base to top. Wrapping is simply when you make sure the polish goes over the tip of your nail and just around to the underside. So when you look at your nail straight on at the tip, you don't see the white of your nail.

Edit - I spelled a couple of things wrong!

How do fix my piano key?

Kobe Chen

Some ink got on my piano keyboard and then I stupidly tried nail polish remover to get it off. Instead I realized I got this layer of paint or something off and now my key feels rough and is a different color. Is there something I could buy to repaint it on?

Answer
Yes. You don't state just what kind of piano this is. Is it a cheap Walmart piano? An acoustic piano with synthetic keys? A Yamaha Clavinova? If it is a more expensive instrument it may have glued on "ivories." In such case, the ivory, which is a thin covering on a wood key, can be removed and replaced which is what I would do in my shop. If someone brought me a cheaper model electronic instrument with an acetone (nail polish remover) damaged, one piece plastic key, this is what I would do: If the key had been eroded by the acetone to the point where there were deep "craters" in it I would fill these with automotive body filler - Bondo - first masking off the adjacent keys with masking tape. I would then cover the filler with white acrylic paint (nail polish). If there was not serious erosion from the acetone, I would simply do a light sanding and apply the paint. The paint has to be as hard and white as possible - thus the nail polish. I would be careful that the paint does not dissolve the key, testing on the underside of the damaged key first. If it does, I would switch to enamel paint. I would let the paint dry for at least one day to achieve maximum hardness after which I would lightly sand the key surface to flatten it using 220 paper and a flat, hard sanding block cut to the width of the key. I would then wet sand the key with 1,500 paper to get it as smooth as possible being very careful not to let water drip inside the instrument. This may at least give the key an adequate feel. If I wanted to make it shine, I would buff it with a small buffing wheel in a hand drill and "Mirror Glaze" buffing compound. Yes, this is a fairly involved procedure but you could do it yourself with a few inexpensive items available at an automotive store. It depends on how much skill you have and if you are willing to take the risk of making it worse. On the other hand, you might use this information and ask someone who is "good with tools" to do it for you rather than put up with a damaged key.

What's an easy painless way remove acrylic nails?

Samantha

I don't want to pay to have them removed such a waste of money

Answer
To remove acrylic nails from home:
Instructions

1: Using nail polish remover, remove nail polish completely from your nails.

2: Cut your acrylic nails as short as possible with a pair of nail clippers. Make sure your nail clippers are strong and sharp; otherwise, the acrylic nail will break when cut.

3: File your nails as short as you can. This will make removing the acrylic nails as easy and painless as possible.

4: Fill a glass bowl from 1 to 2 inches deep with acetone nail polish remover.

5: Apply a thin coat of petroleum jelly to the skin surrounding your nails. Do not apply to the acrylic nails because it will slow the removal process.

6: Set a timer for 15 minutes. Place your fingertips in the glass bowl, making sure the acetone nail polish remover is covering the entire acrylic nail. Allow your acrylic nails to soak for the entire 15 minutes.

7: Remove your fingertips from the acetone. Scrape off the top layer of the acrylic nails using a cuticle pusher or similar tool. The key to removing acrylic nails at home is taking your time and not rush the removal process.

8: Set your timer for another 15 minutes, and allow your acrylic nails to soak in the acetone again. Allow your nails to soak for the entire 15 minutes.

9: Gently try and peel the acrylic nails off the surface of your natural nail. Do not force the acrylic nail to separate from the natural nail. If the nails do not peel off, scrape off the top layer of acrylic.
Repeat this process until the acrylic nail has been completely removed from your natural nail.

10: Wash your hands to remove any acetone nail polish remover and petroleum jelly from your skin and fingernails. Allow to dry completely.

11: Lightly buff the surface of your natural fingernails with a nail buffer. This will remove any remaining acrylic and glue from the surface of your nail.

12: Apply a layer of clear nail polish to your natural nails. This will protect your natural nails since they tend to be delicate after the nail removal process. Allow the polish to dry completely.

13: Apply a moisturizer to your hands and massage into your skin, paying special attention to your fingertips. This will prevent your skin from drying out after being soaked in the acetone nail polish remover.

what is a good nail polish? from your drug store:)?

Emily

im soo tired of buying bad nail polish! like you put it on and u can see threw it! Or it has no color. guh so annoying lol. so whats a good bottle of nail polish from your target, walgreens, cvs i.e drug store that wont do the things listed?:) thank you gjrls:)<3

Answer
I find that I really have to shop around for good polish..and honestly the more you spend the better quailty. It's also about the prep work. Most polish requires a second coat and also following up with a good clear polish can make it last. Always apply a thin even coat on all of your nails, and then follow up with a second coat after it dries. If you ever go to a nail salon.. the nail artist will do the exacr same thing. With that in mind. L.A Colors..Wet and Wild...NYC...are all pretty cheap polishes you can find at the local stores. Also make sure your hands and nails aren't oily or dirty before you apply the color. If your wash your hands all the time..you will also have to replace the polish more often... I work in the medical field and my nail color last 5 days tops..Hope that helps

Does white nail polish make your fingers look fat?

Caitlin

I have bigger fingers and was wondering if white nail polish would make them look bigger or if I should use a darker color?

Answer
actually, i think white nail polish DOES make fingers look fatter. not drastically of course, you would probably be the only one who notices a difference :)

if you are looking for polish that makes your fingers look slimmer then you should invest in a bottle of nude or nude-y pink polish. it will make your fingers look thinner and longer! I'm serious!
essie does a few great shades of this color- one is called ballet slippers and the other is called ador-a-ball. they both work wonders! if thats too expensive go to your closest cvs or walmart and they'll have lots of cheaper options!

hope i helped :)

fingernails with designs..tacky or not?

jennybean7

just wondering what peoples opinions on nail designs are...either crystals or airbrush or even freehand designs...do u guys like them or not? why or why not? what designs do YOU think are classy?

i have seen a girl with reallllly long acrylic nails and had "i love brian" painted on every single nail..thats a bit much in my opinion but i think if done right then like a french manicure with a tiny silver snowflake looks really pretty..what do u think?
also whats the ugliest and prettiest designs u have seen...sorry im just curious cuz i have seen some ugly hoochie nails and i dont understand what would possess a girl to get "f*ck you" painted on her nails (oh yeah..i have seen it before!!)

Answer
It truly depends on your personal style, but you know all that XD
Yes these nails can come off as tacky, like gold teeth, BUT they are in a sense a form of art. In Japan they have events and competitions with fake nails and designs, to the point that MEN even get them! (yes, with the designs and nail piercings to boot!) They can get in the way, break off, look awkward, and in THAT case they are pretty tacky and bad. These days, whats beautiful and trendy is also functional.... and those long fake nails are as far from functional as they can get! But if you got medium length nails or shorter with those snow flake designs, that sounds adorable! I personally like simple designs like that, or a french manicure, but I only like having a nail decal on the ring fingers. Thats just me :)

Do i recycle or trash pencils?

A Dawg

My pencils are like the size of my pinky nail, and pretty much are just the metal and used up eraser.

Answer
Oh, don't trash them yet ! Check out these amazing crafts you can make with these pencil stubs :

You could use them to make interesting & innovative crafts !

eg. picture frames. Glue them along the edges in 3 or more rows & add your artwork as a picture or any photograph, etc.
http://www.diydork.com/colored-pencil-picture-frame/ -- this one has pencils cut into exact lengths & glued at right angles to each edge. A simpler & relatively less formal way would be to glue the pencils [varying lengths] parallel to the edges.
Or like this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWNi_gwggXc
Yet another way to make a frame : http://www.123rf.com/photo_10503702_frame-made-of-pencils-with-multi-color-border-featuring-mini-pencils-showing-the-concept-of-educatio.html

http://pinterest.com/pin/108016091032806485/ -- simple but lovely jewelry by cutting the pencils & stringing them.
I love the Beads that have been cut from these pencils ! You can use these to create a kind of collage artwork/composition.

http://www.worldsstrangest.com/neatorama/pencil-shoes/ -- Amazing ! Shoes/footwear made from color pencils.

http://www.countryliving.com/cm/countryliving/images/straw-vase-de-57819865.jpg -- easy to make vase. Instead of vase, you can use the container to keep your pens, pencils, brushes, etc. too.
You can also make Coasters & Table Mats or Runner in a similar fashion.

You can create beautiful artwork with color pencil shavings too - check these out : http://www.google.co.in/search?q=pencil+shavings+art&hl=en&client=opera&hs=Kfd&rls=en&channel=suggest&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=jqeAT9OyEYrSrQf8t7zvBQ&ved=0CCkQsAQ&biw=800&bih=489 You can use these to make wall hangings/pictures or greeting cards, bookmarks, etc. to gift to friends & family. You can also use the colorful shavings to adorn various items in/around your house. You can decorate gift boxes with the same.

You can actually make stuff with the pencils - it is after all wood. eg. you can make a cardboard frame/box [or use any cartons] & line up the pencils all over & glue. Add a hinge & decorate the interior [line it with velvet or fabric] & you have a beautiful box in which one can store trinkets, etc.

If you need to send out invitations, etc., you can use the longer pencils at 2 opposite ends of a paper or fabric to create a scroll that can be rolled in & out !

Some more images of pencil crafts : http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=pencil+crafts&qs=n&form=QBLH&filt=all&pq=pencil+crafts&sc=0-8&sp=-1&sk=#x153y960

Invent any new game. eg. throwing a fistful on some board & then trying to toss them out of some line with some implement. Create rules with friends & play :)

Enjoy :-)

What can you do to make nail polish dry faster?

Chelsea

I would paint my nails SO much more if I could some how make them dry faster. What always happens is I paint my nails and then about 10-15 minutes later they are dry to the touch but they are dent-able for like the next 3 hours. And by dentable I mean if you like knocked your hand on something or something it would leave a dent in the nail polish.

Answer
A. The best tricks are: 1. Even coats of polish. 2. Wait at least a minute in between coats if you are doing multiples, including a base and top coat.
B. Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. Itâs amazing! I also have another favorite quick dry helper, I feel I would be lost without, QTICA Half Time Polish Drying Accelerator. It dries polish rock hard in 5 to 7 minutes. Itâs a little pricey though. The closest thing to it is Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Speed Dry Drops.

Problem with Nail art !?

Maripos

I love nail art but the problem is when I finish my nail art, I have to apply another top coat to seal it so that it won't come off. When I apply top coat, the colors become darker and it looks terrible !! I usually use light colors for my nail art. What should I do?

Answer
Sephora by OPI has a product, quick drying nail polish drops. They use a eye dropper applicator and there's no brush strokes just 1-2 drops on each nail and it seals all the polish coats dry to the touch in 1 minute and completely dry in 5 minutes.

Plus Sephora Cosmetic Stores have testers that you can use on the particular color polishes for your nail art before you purchase the product. In fact they have testers for every cosmetic and nail color in their stores that include nail cotton pads and nail polish remover. Just look for the Sephora by OPI Nail Polish display.
