Shatter nail polish quEstions?

Nya

I'm new to this Whole shatter polish thing so I was wondering the following things:
-where can I get them?
-how much do they cost?
-what's the best brand
-can I wear them over any nail Polish ?
Thanks a lot !!!!

Answer
Where can you get them?
You can buy it anywhere you can buy OPI polishes that regularly come out with the new collections (so even though Target sells OPI, you won't find the new collection there. And no, Sally's, Sephora, and MAC do NOT sell OPI). You can buy it at Ulta, JC Penney salons, Trade Secret, or possibly some salons near you. Recently, OPI sent out another batch of these polishes. My Ulta was totally stocked last time I was there.
If you cannot find it, China Glaze has a line of 6 different colors of crackle polish (black, teal, pink, grey, purple, white). You can buy them at Sally's, though they might be sold out as well because they had more colors than just black. You might be able to find these online, too.
There are also other brands besides OPI and China Glaze that have crackle polishes. You'll have better luck searching with the name Crackle as opposed to Shatter. Crackle polishes actually came out back in the 90s by CoverGirl. OPI just renamed it to "shatter".
Some other brands that sell crackles are LaRosa, IsaDora, and Barry M. Also know that OPI is releasing several more crackles in different colors in the coming months.

How much do they cost?
Black Shatter costs the regular $8.50 that other OPI's cost (apart from the DS). China Glaze Crackles cost about $6.

What's the best brand?
Having both the OPI and China Glaze ones, I prefer China Glaze because I like the crackle effect it gives more (there's not a huge difference, though), and I find the China Glaze crackle easier to work with. (And FYI, Black Shatter was actually first released with the Serena Williams collection).

Can you wear them over any polish?
Yup!! Any color, brand, finish. Doesn't have to be OPI, and doesn't just have to be the Serena Williams or Katy Perry collections. The insert that comes with it says to put it over an OPI polish, but that's just OPI trying to promote their brand. It works just the same putting it over other brands as it does over OPI.

Where can i buy OPI nail polish?

i dont have any ULTA locations near me and havent been able to find it in any beatuy supply stores or salons. id prefer not to order online

how to get nail polish off 2 yr old?

mhalderman

my daughter got nail polish allll over her face and i need to get it off i dont want to put remover on her face she is only 2 and obviously a 2 yr old will not sit there and let me rub it off lol i dont want to chance getting it in her eye, any suggestions that are safe!! thanks
if you have a 2 year old you should be smart enough to know theyget into everything thanks tho :)

Answer
Soak a cloth in warm water, and rub gently. The skin has natural oils that will build up under the nail polish and it will rub off when soaked in warm water. Or if not just wash is often and it should come off on its own after a few days. Good Luck!
P.S. How did you let her get it on her face these things should not be around a two year old to play with.

my 2 year old got nail polish in his mouth what should i do?

Janessa W

i don't know if he swallowed any

Answer
He's probably fine....

Nail polishes, nail strengtheners, and nail polish removers are rarely swallowed in large quantities because they have an unpleasant taste and may cause an irritating sensation in the mouth. However, they can be harmful if large quantities are ingested.

...can cause immediate, severe burns of your child's skin, mouth, throat and stomach, in large quantity

If he is eating and drinking OK he's OK but to be on the safe side call For a poison emergency in the U.S. call 1-800-222-1222

Answer
Vintage, you need a board for Vintage!!! Delicious vintage dresses, amazing 1950s furniture - maybe a board for Vintage clothes and a Vintage home board :) How about one for cute animals, and a board for nature - there are some amazing photos out there. And one for art/design that you love? And I don't know if it would fall under the Awkward board you already have, but Seriously Weird is good too.

EASY nail polish ideas?

Nicole

So, emphasis on easy, because I can successfully coat my right hand, but I can NOT do anything to tricky on it. I also don't have any of the cool art design nail polish. I have colors, glitter and topcoat. Any simple and easy, yet quirky and cute ideas???

Answer
One I always do is ombre glitter. Just put on a base coat, then on then upper half of the nail do a coat of glitter. Then closer to the tip do another coat of glitter. Then anoter right on the end. It gives the look that the glitter gets more glittery as you get closer to the end of the nail. Or another option is painting you nails in any colour, then getting some scotch tape and those little pattern papper imprinteres (looks like a stapler but cuts a shape into the the tape). put the tape over the fully dried nail and paint over the cut out then peel off and apply top coat.. Also try typing "nails" into the pinterest search engine it will give you so many ideas! I don't think you even nneed to join it. Good luck!

I live in an apartment with just my mother and i what dog should i get for only me and my mom im 13?

Divine Div

My mom and i live in an apartment i have 2000 saved up of allowence and birthday money and my mom will help me pay im 13 what type of sdog should i get i live in an apartment PLEASE HELP

Answer
Reading a book or two is very important as a first step. Many books on the market are able to teach you what to look for in a breeder, in a rescue shelter, in a particular breed, amongst many other things. The first 16 weeks of a dogs life require the most careful planning: getting the dog socialized, getting the dog potty trained, getting the dog used to its new home, getting the owners used to providing positive reinforcement and leadership.

The truth is that the dog will belong more to your mom than it does to you, in the long run. I say this because most dogs live 12-15 years when well cared for. You will probably be in university in 6 years and unable to pay for the dogs care, nor will you be able to have enough time for the dog to do all of its walking and playtime, feeding and so forth (because you will be studying a lot, meeting new people, working part-time...etc.). So, this means the dog will be yours and your moms for 6 years, then it will be mostly your moms for the next 6-9 years, possibly even longer. For this reason, make sure that you AND your mom both really want the dog you choose, will both love her/him and enjoy her/his company. In other words this is a joint decision for both you and your mom together.

In apartments, you want to look at small dog breeds. You also want to avoid many different types of terriers, because even though they might be small, they need A LOT of exercise and outdoor time, some really need a yard. There are some terriers you can consider, but you must be careful.

In addition to choosing a breed of dog, you also want to choose a particular dog. If you get your dog from a breeder, be sure to ask them for a dog that is less dominant and more easy going. If you decide to rescue a dog, then make sure you go out and meet at least 3 dogs, then decide which one you think will be happy in an apartment and a good match for both you and your mom.

Make sure you and your mom read a book or two. Here is a book I recommend for your situation:
"The Art of Raising a Puppy" by the monks of new skete.

There are over 200 breeds and a lot of different mixed-breed dogs to choose from. It would be impossible for me to list all of the wonderful breeds that might suit you, but here are some:
Yorkshire Terrier
Pomeranian
Lhasa Apso
Shih Tsu
Chihuahua
Small Mixed Breeds
Miniature Poodle
Bichon Frise
Maltese
Papillon
Cairn Terrier
Silky Terrier
Rat Terrier
Miniature Pinscher
Pekingese

Last tip: Dont spend all your money on buying the dog, there are many expenses in the first year to keep your dog:
- Dog bed, Leash, Collars (puppy size and adult size), Dog Toys, Jacket, Crate, Pet Shampoo, Nail Clippers, Grooming Brushes = About $400 (Lower estimate)
- Vet visits at: (1) 8 weeks; (2) 12 weeks; (3) 16 weeks (4) 1 year. #1,2,3,4 for vaccinations and check-up. #4 also requires neutering/spaying your dog and possibly microchipping = About $400 (Lower estimate)
- Grooming at a professional grooming parlour at least twice per year for most breeds = About $150
- Cost of buying the dog. Rescue Dogs cost about $200-450. Purebred dogs from good breeders cost about $1,000-2,000. If a "breeder" is selling a dog for 300-800 DO NOT BUY IT: The dog is being abused and is unhealthy. DO NOT BUY FROM PET STORES: They rip you off and abuse the animals.

Is it ok to dye your 4 year olds hair?

Elizabeth

My daughter will be 5 next month and she wants the ombre treatment like I have.

I didn't say yes...yet. I'm thinking hard. I mean, its only the tips and her hair grows soo fast I feel like there is no harm done.

She paints her nails, and wears lip smackers but that's about it. She dresses and speaks like a little lady and I feel like it would be cute.

What do you think? Is she too young?

Answer
Tell your daughter to wear a wig, but I doubt she'll be allowed back in the school!

Toddlers & Tiaras do that, but I do NOT RECOMMEND CHEMICALS on anyone - specially if they have a family history of breast cancer. Both mom, & sister have breast cancer, they both have messed with chemicals all their lives. Mom started perming my hair in 2nd grade when I was dyeing my hair in the 80's & 90's, I had frequent migraines. Those are all signs, your body had been tampered with chemicals.

I've responded to many girls (guys now too) under 15 experiencing in hair loss since 2009, due to hair straightening, relaxers and hair dyes. Women 60-90 have those same symptoms but it took them years to get there. But for 15 & under, giving advice here? They can't predict the future of their hairs, until they're in their 30's, but 15 & under with hair loss? C'mon! I've responded 7 in 2 hours 9-3-10, (before school started) 4 in 1hour 3-5-11 alone. 3 in 1hr. 8-8-11, 6 in 15 mins. 11-10-11.

HAIR CHALKING TIPS:
âUse art soft pastel chalk. Oil-based chalk will stain your hair. Sidewalk chalk or chalkboard chalk wonât stick to your hair.
âNo matter what color your hair, apply the chalk to dry hair first. If you have darker hair and the chalk isnât showing up then dampen the hair before applying.
âUsing a curling or flat iron after chalking can help seal your hair if needed.
âBlondes may have to shampoo a few times before the color fully rinses out.
âShake or brush the chalk out of your hair before you wash it. Getting chalked hair wet could stain your hair.
âProtect your clothes and hands. Wear gloves and smock or towel to keep chalk from getting on you while youâre applying it. Chalk can flake off while itâs in your hair, so itâs a good idea not to wear light clothes.
Itâs important to use soft pastel chalks â the kind artists use, not oil-based chalks or sidewalk chalks.
To remove, shake or brush your hair to dust out the chalk before getting into the shower. Then wash your hair. The chalk can get messy, so wear plastic gloves.
Kandee Johnson, a celebrity makeup artist and beauty and style blogger, posted a hair chalking how-to video on YouTube in February. So far itâs gotten more than 630,000 hits.

what is better for nail art acrylic paints or nail polish?

Cup Cake

ive recently started to do nail art and was just wondering whats better.
im doing it on false nails, and plan to sell them so need a professional finish and look

Answer
A lot of professionals use acrylic paint for intricate designs and such because of the colors you can use and the brushes that you can have access too.

For everyday people, its way easier to use nail polish, especially if it comes with a fine tip brush for decorating. If you don't have fake nails, its easier to take the nail polish off instead of taking off your fake nails in the process.

Marble nail art ???? ;o?

Diana

So I've tried doing this before but it won't work -.-
My mom said it was probably the water , but I really don't know.
Does the water have to in a tempeture ?
Ugh please help me !! :(

Answer
Nail art > Marble pattern
http://www.nail-art-101.com/water_marble_nail_art.html

how they describe in tutorial,
is that you drop in sets of rings, shape with pin, but not outer layer,
you don not use until touch dried as one piece,
then scoop out around nail as later, and remove section on skin and leave on nail,

if you really do not want polish remover on skin, suggest use skin cream around nail first, but that may interfere with water or paint polish, you could try watercolour masking fluid, and remove after done, polish remover is acetone, there is alcohol alternative in case toxic,

http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Marble-Nail-Effect-Using-Water

why not just have sets of colours on palette, and apply to nails one by one in same later sequence, and swirl with toothpick as patterns,

Nail polish?

Is nail polish a renewable resource or non renewable resource?

Answer
Nail polish is a mixture of things; it includes pigments, solvents, and resins/polymers etc to form the paint-like film when it dries. Most of the components are probably derived ultamately from petroleum or mineral substances, so, at least some of it is, technically, non-renewable, however, lets keep it in perspective, the quantity of the earths resources used for nail polish is a very, very tiny fraction, so you can paint your nails without feeling a lot of guilt that you are ripping through the earth's resources like there is no tomorrow.

If you could get your parents to plan ahead and combine errands when driving, not go hog-wild with the air conditioning, fix the leaking fawcet washers, and such stuff, it would offset your nail polish use many, many times over.

Is this trendy or tacky? (nail polish)?

Janet

so I was wondering what is considered to be trendy or tacky in the world of nails and nail polish.
So what do you think is trendy or tacky on this list below?

Metallic Nail Polish
Neon Nail Polish
French Style
Short nails (well kept)
Long nails (natural)
Long Nail (fake)

Answer
Metallic Nail Polish - Trendy
Neon Nail Polish - Trendy if done well, tacky if not
French Style - Classic, which is better than trendy because it never goes out of style
Short nails - Trendy
Long nails (natural) - Trendy
Long Nails (fake) - depends, but usually tacky.

I used to think metallic and neon nail polish was very tacky until I tried it myself, and I liked it. I got compliments on my metallic blue nail polish, but I haven't tried any neon colors as of late (and I don't think I will). Anything natural (to me) will always be trendy, but long fake nails are a tough one. If they're being used for a french manicure, trendy. If they're being used with some whacky color for the dragon lady effect, tacky. I've found that the more fun colors look less tacky on shorter nails.

I want to do white nails with pink/red kissy lips on them.
Does any place sell small lips stamps or stickers??
please answer!!

Answer
I would just use red nail polish and a toothpick. You may need to practice a few times to get it right but it's much cheaper, much more personalized and you can learn to do a lot more with this technique.

I have lots of videos on my youtube doing nail art tutorials with a toothpick.

Dog's and nail polish ?

koko

Is it safe to polish your dogs nail?

Answer
Yes, any polish will work but the quick dry or one coat type are easiest and fastet to use. Non acetone polish remover to take it off and wash the feet well after taking it off. The only thing special about groomers dog polish is its quick dry one coat which you can get for humans too. If hair is long around nails you may want to trim it back with scissors, obviously blow on the polish to dry and dont let the dog have the foot back until it is dry.

As a groomer at a vets office we often used normal quick dry one coat polish if we needed a color we were out of until we reordered because all of our orders had minimum product # limits.

A lot of breeders use it to mark pups, groomers apply it routinely on groomed female dogs.

ADDED
Use a little logic, nail polish is toxic if you eat or drink it and on that list, thousands of human babies get nails polished. If its safe for a human baby why wouldnt it be for a dog.

What should i do ! i love neon pink but ive had it for a while !

Answer
Summer Watermelons!(:
You will need pink nail polish, green nail polish, black nail art pen, and optional: clear glitter sparkles polish
1. Clean your toes and do you normal thing. Take off all old nail polish.
2. Paint whole toe a bright fun pink. Neon pink might be too bright, but you could paint the watermelon peel neon green.
WAIT FOR IT TO DRY COMPLETLY
3. Paint the edge of the toe green, so it looks like a french tip that's pink and green insted of white and pink.
WAIT FOR IT TO DRY COMPLETLY
4. Take the black nail art pen and draw tear drop shaped seeds on.
DRY.
5. Put on a clear coat first, or put on a glitter clear coat.
DONEEEE:D

You could also paint different colors on all your toes. If you were a nail polish junkie you could do neon pink, neon yellow, neon green, neon blue, and neon purple.

Hope I Helped!(:
