What is a good nail art pen, and where can I buy it?

123

I'm looking for a nail polish pen that can be used to make designs and small details, not the 1 stroke nail polish pens.

Answer
honestly, that one chick that answered already is right. The salley hansen nail pens are the best. they are about 8 dollars each and are totally worth it. i bought some for my sister and she made these beautiful leopard spots on her toes. do urself a favor and dont purchase anything online. thats the worst thing to do. just drive over to walgreens, savons, target, or even walmart and buy youself a pair!

:D

Do you agree that feet are very beautiful?

Biting nails?

.

i need help to stop biting my nails. its pretty bad. i need some good suggestion. ive tried to paint them but i always just bite it off.

Answer
I have been biting my nails since I was at least 4 years old. I bite the nails and the skin around them. I know...yuck! Anyway, I have been bite-free for three weeks now. I just kept getting manicures. Fake nails make them worse but if I get a manicure (usually french)m on my natural nails I don't bite them. It didn't just happen over night though. It took a couple of ruined manicures for me to stop but without them I would still be biting. Make sure to keep up on the polish so you aren't tempted to do it again. I also have my boyfriend check on my polish. When he sees cracked polish, he scolds me for biting my nails. So far so good.

What are some cute fingernail designs?

devon

Our church is having a program tonight for vbs and i would like to paint my nails. My nails are short. Im 14 yrs old and would like a cute, do it yourself idea for my nails. I have a lot of different colors too. Any ideas???

Answer
Here are some ideas from Seventeen readers:
http://www.seventeen.com/hair-skin-makeup/best-tips/diy-nail-designs

Describes adding rhinestones and other stuff to nails:
http://esthersnc.com/articles/fun-polish-tips.html

This might give you some inspirations:
http://www.thenaildirectory.com/nailart-photos.html

What I like to do to my nails is a watermelon style.

- clean nails
- put on protective layer, let dry
- in a zig zag motion put on watermelon color from cuticle to tips, don't cover entire nail, let dry
- put protective layer again

Or for a cool effect you could put a little watermelon color on your nails and before it dries, put on the protective layer, and it'll look like water with pink in it. Like watermelon. ^^

I need rainbow ideas. ASAP!! XC?

Answer

Guys: Do you like girls with or without nail polish?

Spencer

just genuinely curious, answer honestly.

Answer
I just asked my uncle and dad; they said without. My cousin said yes though.

quote from dad: "I think it looks more natural when they don't wear it."

quote form uncle: "Well, I'm ok with the look, but I hate the smell of that and nail polish remover, so I'll say without."

quote from cousin (he's six): "Gotta say nail polish, see like if you had your skin sticking out like this *shows me* they'll think it's nail polish." (he meant hangnails, silly kid.)

I spilled nail polish remover on my i phone 5! Help!?

Grace

I spilled nail polish remover on my phone. When i saw the screen, there was discoloration in the top right corner. It happened to be brighter than the rest of the screen. What happened and will this be gone by the time i turn my phone back on in a few hours? Can apple fix this? Thanks:)

Answer
The problem won't simply go away on its own: nail polish remover is a powerful chemical solvent. The damage is permanent.

Apple should be able to repair it, but they definitely won't do it for free. Bring your iPhone to the Genius Bar at an Apple Store, they will quote a repair estimate. If you think it's too much, take your handset to an independent cellphone repair shop. Most of those places have better rates than cellular carrier stores or the Apple Store.

And in the future, avoid open liquid containers around expensive consumer electronics. This is a costly lesson for you, hopefully you have learned something.

Good luck.

When should you throw out nail polish?

UnboundClo

Some of the bottles of nail polish, I've had for like 9 years, not joking. Should I throw them out??

Answer
No, don't throw them out unless they are so thick they are unusable. If your nail polish is getting chunky, put a few drops of nail polish remover into the bottle and shake it up. It almost immediately thins out the nail polish and spreads on the nail quite nicely. Don't throw out nail polish unless you really have to. It can get expensive!

I just love nail polish! Do you?

BIGsisterO

I seriously love nail polish :D If they aren't painted I don't want to leave my room and if I hate no time to paint them (which happened for the first time this week) I hide my nails and use a marker on them. I know that seems dumb but they just have to have color! I joke around and say, "As a woman (well female) it is your duty to keep your nails painted". XD Even if my nails are smudged or chipped, I don't care as long as I have color on them that day!

Answer
Well I love nail Polish too but i must say i am not as crazy as you that i wont leave my room if my nails are not painted. If you are looking for some nail care tips have a look here:

can you paint a key with nail polish?

Stella lov

Can you Paint a key with nail polish with it still being apply to open the lock?

Answer
yes, but it will chip off over time. At places like Lowes, or a locksmith, you can get keys made that are colorful and it's relatively cheap. I made my apartment key turquoise!

What kind of nail polish.................?

Q. Whats the best nail polish that wont chip off fast.

Answer
The key is to always use a good quality basecoat. This will help prevent the polish from staining your nails, and it gives the polish something to adhere to and that will help prevent chipping. Also, use a good topcoat for added protection.

When and where would fishing a bucktail be the best, while surf fishing? Also any advice on colors or trailers?

bigbec

When and where would fishing a bucktail be the best, while surf fishing? Also any advice on colors or trailers?

Answer
i c+p this from another site

At least in early season, I like to bounce them off the bottom. Although I occasionally add a curley tail, bucktails generally work pretty good by themselves. The only time I wouldn't bounce them off the bottom is if I know for sure that the fish are somewhere else in the water column (i.e I see a school working the surface)

Bucktails and rocks; lighter weight head, bigger plastic trailer, and a line tie on the front are my secrets to not hang up. I also count down, and if I hang up, I don't let it fall as long on the next one. Line size also affects fall rate. Once I get depth right, I fish it with small jerks & reel fast enough to not hang up to often.

Bucktails will catch almost any fish in the sea almost anywhere. They are so versatile. There are so many different kinds, from shad darts which slaughter big fluke when they wont take bigger baits to the half pound size that all the alaskan halibut fisherman are using. A couple of different twists to try are: Take red nail polish and put some vertical slashes across the white hairs so it looks like it was wounded by a blue.
Eyes- make a difference. If the bucktail doesnt have eyes try painting some on with nail polish or those acrylic paint pens.
Flash- Add a little sparkle to the regular tail with some of the dozens of different flash products from the fly tying shops.

Bucktails and rocks: I would try fishing with; longer heavier leaders, lighter weigh heads, bigger chunkier hair, or larger soft plastics. All these would slow the fall rate, therefor producing less hang ups. As stated earlier you should count down to the depth you wanna fish.
Learning what's under water: Instead of wasting lures did you ever just try bouncing a sinker along the bottom? It's a good way to find out the depth and structure you are about to fish. I use a 1 1/2 oz bank tied to the end of my leader with 50#PP and a 5' 60# leader it falls roughly 1 1/2 feet per second. No hooks=less snags and you still get a feel for the spot your fishing. Then make the assessment and pick your bait.

Location, conditions and style or type of fishing should dictate how you fish your jig. Bouncing or walking it along the bottom could be right for places with deep water and strong current or when you know the fish are down deep in general. Other times you may want to fish in the lower part or bottom of the waves where many times the fish are cruising when the waves are rolling. Determine the right weight by reeling in at a moderate speed and maintaining contact or "feel" of the jig. You don't want a lot of drag or have it crashing into the bottom or too light that you can't feel it or that the water has control of it.

Jig fishing is not rocket science its the most simple lure a guy can fish with and catch the most amount of fish and big fish to, bucktails are deadly on any fish species.

Always fish the lightest jig possible I use jigs anywere from 3/4oz all the way up to 5oz it all depends on were I am fishing, current etc.

One thing about jig fishing is if you are not loosing jigs you are not fishing correctly, I dont mean losing 20 jigs a night but a few here and there is normal if your fishing in rocky areas of corse on sandy bottoms you will never loose a jig unless you break your line wile casting.

You can bounce jigs off the bottom, swim them, yo yo them, etc, just use your imagination when fishing and try different retrive speeds.

I read that the cross in the bible that Christ died on in hebrew is actually defined as a stake?

2fatrightn

So the cross that everyone symbolizes with Jesus wouldn't be accurate? If so, why do all the churches use the cross on everything?

Answer
The King James Bible says Jesus was put to death on a tree.

Acts 5:30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
Acts 10:39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
Acts 13:29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.
Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Michelangelo and the Cross

Italian government art experts are said to be â90 percent sureâ that a sculpture recently found in a monastery in Lebanon is the work of the famous Italian artist Michelangelo. The small wooden carving is said to be worth $2.5 million (U.S.) if it actually is Michelangeloâs work. According to an Associated Press report, âthe figure is unusual because it represents Christ with his hands stretched out above his head instead of to the side, as he usually is depicted on the cross.â

Whether the wooden sculpture is the work of the 16th-century artist Michelangelo or not, it illustrates that the impalement of Christ on a cross frame has not always been so certain as Christendomâs leaders today would have people believe. For example, the 16th-century Roman Catholic scholar Justus Lipsius illustrated impalement on an upright stake in his book âDe Cruce Liber Primus.â This fits the meaning of the Greek word used in the Bible to describe the impalement of Christ âstaurosâ which âdenotes, primarily, an upright pale or stake.â âAn Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words.

Jesus Christ did not die on a cross. The Greek word generally translated âcrossâ is stau·ros'. It basically means âan upright pale or stake.â The Companion Bible points out: âStau·ros' never means two pieces of timber placed across one another at any angle . . . There is nothing in the Greek of the "New Testament" even to imply two pieces of timber.â

In several texts, Bible writers use another word for the instrument of Jesusâ death. It is the Greek word xy'lon. (Acts 5:30; 10:39; 13:29; Galatians 3:13; 1 Peter 2:24) This word simply means âtimberâ or âa stick, club, or tree.â

Explaining why a simple stake was often used for executions, the book Das Kreuz und die Kreuzigung (The Cross and the Crucifixion), by Hermann Fulda, states: âTrees were not everywhere available at the places chosen for public execution. So a simple beam was sunk into the ground. On this the outlaws, with hands raised upward and often also with their feet, were bound or nailed.â

The most convincing proof of all, however, comes from Godâs Word. The apostle Paul says: âChrist by purchase released us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse instead of us, because it is written: âAccursed is every man hanged upon a stake âa tree,â King James Version.ââ (Galatians 3:13) Here Paul quotes Deuteronomy 21:22, 23, which clearly refers to a stake, not a cross. Since such a means of execution made the person âa curse,â it would not be proper for Christians to decorate their homes with images of Christ impaled.

There is no evidence that for the first 300 years after Christâs death, those claiming to be Christians used the cross in worship. In the fourth century, however, pagan Emperor Constantine became a convert to apostate Christianity and promoted the cross as its symbol. Whatever Constantineâs motives, the cross had nothing to do with Jesus Christ. The cross is, in fact, pagan in origin. The New Catholic Encyclopedia admits: âThe cross is found in both pre-Christian and non-Christian cultures.â Various other authorities have linked the cross with nature worship and pagan sex rites.

Why christians believe that the cross can help them and the Christ did not use it?

ABC

Im muslim and want to know why the cross is very important to christians
and you all know that the Christ himself did not use it
so from where did the cross come

Answer
As Christian I personally don't believe in a cross, I would like to tell you why I, and so many of my friends are different.
The Greek word rendered âcrossâ in many modern Bible versions (âtorture stakeâ in NW) is stauâ§rosâ². In classical Greek, this word meant merely an upright stake, or pale. Later it also came to be used for an execution stake having a crosspiece. The Imperial Bible-Dictionary acknowledges this, saying: âThe Greek word for cross, [stauâ§rosâ²], properly signified a stake, an upright pole, or piece of paling, on which anything might be hung, or which might be used in impaling [fencing in] a piece of ground. . . . Even amongst the Romans the crux (from which our cross is derived) appears to have been originally an upright pole.ââEdited by P. Fairbairn (London, 1874), Vol. I, p. 376.
Was that the case in connection with the execution of Godâs Son? It is noteworthy that the Bible also uses the word xyâ²lon to identify the device used. A Greek-English Lexicon, by Liddell and Scott, defines this as meaning: âWood cut and ready for use, firewood, timber, etc. . . . piece of wood, log, beam, post . . . cudgel, club . . . stake on which criminals were impaled . . . of live wood, tree.â It also says âin NT, of the cross,â and cites Acts 5:30 and 10:39 as examples. (Oxford, 1968, pp. 1191, 1192) However, in those verses KJ, RS, JB, and Dy translate xyâ²lon as âtree.â (Compare this rendering with Galatians 3:13; Deuteronomy 21:22, 23.)
The book The Non-Christian Cross, by J. D. Parsons (London, 1896), says: âThere is not a single sentence in any of the numerous writings forming the New Testament, which, in the original Greek, bears even indirect evidence to the effect that the stauros used in the case of Jesus was other than an ordinary stauros; much less to the effect that it consisted, not of one piece of timber, but of two pieces nailed together in the form of a cross. . . . It is not a little misleading upon the part of our teachers to translate the word stauros as âcrossâ when rendering the Greek documents of the Church into our native tongue, and to support that action by putting âcrossâ in our lexicons as the meaning of stauros without carefully explaining that that was at any rate not the primary meaning of the word in the days of the Apostles, did not become its primary signification till long afterwards, and became so then, if at all, only because, despite the absence of corroborative evidence, it was for some reason or other assumed that the particular stauros upon which Jesus was executed had that particular shape.ââPp. 23, 24; see also The Companion Bible (London, 1885), Appendix No. 162.

The teaching of the cross was brought about the men the scriptures talked about would infiltrate the Christian congregation and corrupt it. This happened some time soon after 98CE. These are the same men who also brought in pagan teachings such as the trinity which corrupted the scriptural teaching that God is one. In Fact the bible teaches that Christians should not use any object as a form of devotion. This is what the bible teaches but many today have been blinded by what their religion teaches them and don't research the information for themselves to find out the truth.
Here is the scriptural references to prove this:
1 Cor. 10:14: âMy beloved ones, flee from idolatry.â (An idol is an image or symbol that is an object of intense devotion, veneration, or worship.)
Ex. 20:4, 5, JB: âYou shall not make yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything in heaven or on earth beneath or in the waters under the earth; you shall not bow down to them or serve them.â (Notice that God commanded that his people not even make an image before which people would bow down.)
Of interest is this comment in the New Catholic Encyclopedia: âThe representation of Christâs redemptive death on Golgotha does not occur in the symbolic art of the first Christian centuries. The early Christians, influenced by the Old Testament prohibition of graven images, were reluctant to depict even the instrument of the Lordâs Passion.ââ(1967), Vol. IV, p. 486.
Concerning first-century Christians, History of the Christian Church says: âThere was no use of the crucifix and no material representation of the cross.ââ(New York, 1897), J. F. Hurst, Vol. I, p. 366.

Water marbling nail art tips?

h

So I have been trying water marbling and failing miserably. I don't know what goes wrong every time. I follow the basic steps: apply my base coat, then white nail polish and let it entirely dry. Then I take room temperature water in a disposable cup and that's where all my problems start. Either the nail polish doesn't spread well (even with brand new OPI, China Glaze and Orly nail polishes) or if it does spread well, then I don't get this "bullseye". I mean I just don't get enough rings of colors. Is there any tip or trick to make this work? I also get air bubbles right in the middle of my nail...

Answer
once you make the bullseye youve gotta do it fast so it doesnt dry up. and take a toothpick and flick in from the outer ring to create a pattern. i also recommend taping your finger to avoid getting nail polish everywhere. then stick your finger and the spot you want to capture at a FLAT angle, and do not pull away take a qutip and pick up the surronding nail polish. that should work

Art Modeling Tips?

Marie

So I had to make some fast cash and have considered modeling for fine artists and photographers. I've had a little bit of fine art modeling experience, pretty laid back.
I've already had a few offers. But it just dawned on me, that I don't really know anything.
I mean, I'm confident enough with my body to know that I'm fine the way I am, but I'm just thinking on professional terms.
Like especially for photography, should I get nails done? I've never waxed anything before, I might have to wax upper lip. And I have minor tan lines. I mean, is there something I absolutely should make sure is taken care of like tan lines, hair, makeup, or what? I don't really workout, I'm just thin. I'm kind of a tom boy, don't use makeup or anything like that, so I was looking for some basic tips.
Also any tips on poses, pricing, what should I charge? etc.

Answer
If your doing this just for extra $$, work with the photog/artist on your rates, Get what you can.

AS for the rest of the stuff. One photog will want nothing but you, hair, nails, stubble as is...

Others may want you bodypaint, leather armor, and completely hairless... Everywhere. Including no razor burn/stubble smooth as a baby's backside.

It will depend on the photog, the project, and YOUR comfort level. The more the photog wants, the more he should pay. I know girls that make $600-$1000 a day for fetish shoots, but it is an all day thing, several sets, lots of clothing changes, etc... Most make a whole lot less, averaging $35-$60 an hour for basic poses, casual dress to swimwear, usually 2-3 hours of work. Partial / artistic nudes pay more.

Being new, and if you want more exposure, get what you can, but dont price yourself out of good work. Get an agreement to get photos on CD, and/or actual editted photos printed for you.

Can you use gel nail polish on your real nails?

Pufnstuf

If so, do you have to have the UV Light? I dont care for fake fingernails and am able to grow my natural nails long. I do like nail polish, but it chips within days. Can I buy gel nail polish and apply it to my real nails? If I can do this, what do I need to remove it?

Answer
UV nail gel is placed directly over natural nails like nail polish. It gives natural nails the strength and durability of acrylic tips. It's a thin, clear gel that is applied directly to the natural fingernail. UV nail gel helps protect the nail from daily abuse such as banging, typing and washing. According to NailSplash.com, many people apply UV nail gel to strengthen their nails instead of getting acrylics.

Things You'll Need
UV nail gel
Brush
UV light
Cuticle pusher
Clear topcoat
Cuticle oil
Q-tips

1
Cover entire fingernail with a thin layer of clear UV nail gel using a brush. NailsDirect.com recommends outlining the outside of the fingernail with a cuticle pusher to make sure that the gel does not get on the skin. Repeat the process on each fingernail.

2
Dry gel under a UV light for two minutes.

3
Apply a second coat of UV nail gel to fingernails.

4
Dry nails under a UV light for two minutes.

5
Apply a clear topcoat to gelled nails. Allow nails to dry for 30 minutes.

6
Apply cuticle oil using a cotton swab. Rub the oil into the cuticles.
