Durable nail polish?

What is the most durable nail polish you've used? Can you tell me the brand and how long it lasts (approximately)? I can't seem to find any that lasts :(

To help nail polish last longer, always use a good quality basecoat, and a topcoat too. The basecoat will provide a sticky surface for the polish to adhere to, and the topcoat will help the polish last longer by sealing it, and protecting it as well. Also, before applying any polish, make sure your nails are squeaky clean. Wash them well with soap and water but be sure they aren't wet when applyinh the polish. Allow at least a half hour for them to dry. And use some acetone, or 99% rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad to scrub your nails. This will help to remove any oils on your nails, so the polish will last longer.

Good summer nail styles/colors?

Orly also has some summery neon colors out. I would recommend checking these out, too.

As for ombre nails, they go from one color to another color/shade on each nail. It creates a gradient effect on each of your nails. This effect looks pretty cool and can be done in a variety of ways. A fun French tip would be to pick out a summer color for your base and then use glitter for your tips.

Help with photographing nail art?

Q. I'm trying to take close up pictures of nail art that I've done, but I just can not get my camera to focus. It's just your everyday digital camera, nothing fancy. It doesn't have any kind of manual focus feature, it's one of those where you press the shutter button halfway down and it auto-focuses (can't shut this off). I've tried taking them up close and far away with zoom. The lighting in the room is pretty bright. Am I doing something wrong, or will I just have to invest in a better camera?

How can I tell my mom that I want to start using makeup? What do you think of all this?

So I'm 16 yrs old almost 17 on January and I'm a disable person..Anyways I'm about to start my sophomore yr & I don't wear ANY makeup.. So when I go back to school I want to look different.. I'm working on lots of things this summer, I'm working on loosing weight (my doctor says that if I loose weight theirs a chance I can walk ), not biting my nails, not being SO shy, and dressing different, (I have the same swag 'style' since elementary school).. I'm gonna tell you something really quick.. My height is 4'3 & because my height, my weight and my disability sometimes I feel ugly.. But I always say that this is NOT an excuse for me to not look pretty.. To be honest I'm HAPPY with my life cuz even that I can't walk doesn't mean that I can't look pretty.. In my life I have to many goals. I want to graduate, I want to go to college then I want to be a doctor... I have SO many goals on my life that I won't give up never...NEVER... Anyways here's my question.. How can I tell my parents that I'm growing up and that I want to look like any girl who's 16 like me? How can I tell them that I wanna start using makeup?...ooooh I have NEVER cut my hair too ( it's very long like to my but bottom ) anyways I have asked my mom if I can cut it and she gets very emotional.. How can I can I tell my parents that I'm growing up and that I'm not the same girl as I was before? They think that if I want to use makeup it's because I want boys look at me.. To be 100% honest of course that I want boys to look at me, but even though I have never had a boyfriend I'm not on that a lot, I want to concentrate on my grades more ( I think having a relationship on my age is TO much drama)... Hi there, my name is Jessica and Im 23 a qualified makeup artist and own a promotional modeling agency... to be honest with you my mother was similar and she still is my bestfriend Im getting married next year and we just started dress shopping she is freaking out that Im growing up... she wasn't dead against it but my friends would do their makeup so tacky and caked on that my mother was like if you don't do it properly don't wear it at all... my mum isn't qualified in makeup but i have learnt more about it from her that anyone else and she can do hers alto better than a lot of other women i know... Yours is probably just concerned she is a mother she loves you so she worries its their job. if you have never worn makeup try to steer away from BLACK eye liner and mascara... Try browns and softer natural tones unless you have black eyelashes don't use black mascara yet, make sure they are not water proof unless you need it and if you don't need eyeliner maybe avoid it if you are interested in makeup look on YouTube they have awesome tutorials try a more natural approach and if possible i suggest you try and talk to your mother don't follow your friends just because they are wearing makeup and definetly don't copy their makeup if its caked on... makeup is an art. hence the reason we are called makeup artists your face is the canvas its about extenuating your features your young and young is beautiful... less is more unless your a drag queen or lady gaga.. :-) if you learn to do it properly and speak to your mother on an open minded level she will respect you more you already sound extremely mature and Im sure she will understand and discuss her concerns as to why so that you may better understand why she feels that way compromise with her maybe only a sheer natural lipgloss and a soft one slick of mascara and build up slowly for her to get used to the idea my BIGGEST TIP is to even suggest that you find some good tutorials like i mentioned earlier and you could have some mother daughter time doing makeup together even though parents are scared of their children growing up they love to be involved a mother teaches her daughter to do makeup just like a father teaches his son to shave its something that is a great bonding moment for you never be the sheep. and copy the other girls be a leader if you learn to do it properly and teach them you will stand out and have your own identity and they will come to you for tips,

Life has no meaning for me. I don't know what to do?

I don't know how to explain it well but I feel... dead. I'm living but I feel like a zombie. Up and moving but not really thinking. I feel stupid. I can't think anymore. I don't know how to talk to anyone anymore. My mind is blank. I just want to sleep for a year.

I am 16. I've been isolated from humans for nearly 5 years? Maybe 6. I don't even think of myself as a human anymore. I don't go to school. I quit it sometime in I think, 6th grade? I don't know I can't remember things anymore. Probably why I'm stupid. Can't even answer 4th grade questions. It hurts too much to think.

I live with my only parent. My dad. We don't talk much. There is no people around me. I have no friends. No family. No, no one. I am alone. I'm always alone. I'm scared of people. The very few times I go out they stare at me... whisper things. No I don't like people very much.

I'm ugly too. The mirror doesn't lie. I spend hours looking at it. I am horrific. Very hideous face. A creature. I look dead. Pale skin and sunken in eyes with black rings around them. Brittle & blue nails. Probably because I don't eat.

Life is horrible. Why did I have to be born into this terrible world? I just want to sleep forever. I have another world in my dreams where everything is much better. I am happy in my world. I'm not alone. People are nice and actually talk to me. I am pretty in my world and have shiny golden hair instead of my straw-like brown. I'm starting to feel like the real reality is in my dreams. When I wake up is my nightmare.

Is life supposed to be like this? Why would you want to live in this horrible world? I wish there was a magical pill to make it all go away. I think I'm going to go to sleep. Go back to my world now. My mind is starting to go blank again and my chest is feeling heavy.

Life doesnt just give us a meaning and purpose. We have to find it for ourselves. Life is a jouney and we cant expect it to be easy and perfect or there would be no point in it. Everybody faces hardships, some face worse than others. But it is facing these hardships that make us stronger, inspiring people. Just know that wherever you are, whatever your situation, however you feel, there is always someone in a much worse position than you. I mean just look at kids in Syria, theyre faced with having to witness deaths and suffering starvation. 

Some people find meaning in having a religion. You could explore different beliefs, philosophies and religions and find one that makes most sense to you. By practicing a religion, philosophy or a set of beliefs it gives meaning to life. 

Others find that trying to be successful in life gives them meaning. You mentioned you dont go to school anymore but I highly recommend you go back into some form of education. You need education to be able to get a decent job. Try to take online tests and watch tutorials on how to do things youre struggling with, this will help you improve your academic skills. Think of something you want to achieve and work towards it. You have a real talent for writing I see, maybe you could do some song writing or write poems or books. 

Helping people can give you meaning because you improve other peoples lives. It also makes you feel better about yourself. Maybe there is somewhere you could volunteer to help like a care home for the elderly. Or you could also help animals e.g make a bird feeder which will help birds as winter is here. 

Ugly is a horrible word. All people are beautiful in their own way and beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I always think people look better natural. But maybe wearing make up would make you feel better about yourself. If you want golden hair then you can dye it. But you look fine the way you are, I know it. And try and sleep more, moisturise, drink water and eat healthy food- this will improve your skin.

⢠Pleasant activity planning - make a list of all the days in the week and schedule something you enjoy for each day of the week e.g. watching your favourite film or reading your favourite book. 
Another cognitive therapy technique is: 
⢠Thought diary - whenever you feel sad (or happy) write it down when and why. This can help you to see if your depression is worse at a certain time of day or what the reasons for your sadness are. It can also help you to see what makes you happy. And is a good way to express your emotions. 

Some people find that having a hobby is good for depression because when youre busy doing something you enjoy, you dont have time to think about sadness. It is like a distraction from sadness. Think about what do you like or are interested in. Art?Cooking? Reading? Writing? Gardening? 

Meditation can also help, but it takes a little time to make a difference in anxiety or depression because first you need to learn how to do it effectively. There are plenty of YouTube tutorials though.  

You mentioned you dont talk to your dad much but it is better to talk to someone about your feelings rather than keep them to yourself. If you feel you cant actually talk to him then how about writing a letter to him and placing it somewhere he will find. 

If you feel lonely, there is help like depression helplines. I cant give you any specific contacts because I dont know which country you live in. But if you type into a search engine depression helplines and include your area then something will come up. Depression helplines can offer you emotional support.

New Mexico!

Santa Fe is full of culture and history, very diverse boutiques, and even a few suprises, like the circular staircase in a church built with no nails! A short drive south would take you to Albuqerque full of lots of things to do and see, a large zoo and aquarium and gardens, museums, casinos and many exotic restaurants. A short drive north of Santa Fe would take you to Raton or Taos, also full of history and interesting shops and activities. I'm sure you can find horseback riding at any of these places.

Weather here in NM is usually warm in summer (upper 80's to 90's) and no humidity. You can also drive south of Albuquerque a couple hours and go to Alamogordo where there is the White Sands missle range, where there are miles and miles of pure white sand,and a space museum; and south of there is Carlsbad Caverns, a massive underground natural cavern where you can see a bat show when bats exit the cave at night. (very impressive) Ruidoso has great shopping, horse-racing, and cabins to stay in. Also try looking up Inn of the Mountain Gods...a beautiful place to stay!

You can eat Green Chili - a treat you'll miss when leaving and a wide array of Spanish and Mexican food. It is very cross-cultured here, a melting pot if you will.

Sorry to ramble, but I live in New Mexico and it's widely forgotten as a vacation destination. It's also more fitting if your're shoppping for a budget vacation with lots of diversity. It's beautiful and the scenery from the North end (forests) to the South end (desert) there is much to discover. (sorry, that sounded like a commercial!)

An obvious solution to get nail polish out of your clothes is to use nail polish remover. Make sure to use a nail polish remover that is non-acetone based, since acetone will cause the colors in your clothes to fade. Don't forget to check the polish remover on an inconspicuous spot on the garment to be sure it doesn't cause color change. Once you've determined that nail polish remover is safe to use, place paper towels under the affected area. Instead of putting the nail polish remover directly onto the fabric, dab it onto the fabric using cotton balls, paper towel, or a clean cloth. The nail polish should come right out. If the shirt is white and not made of rayon or acetate, you can use pure acetone for faster results.

If you don't have nail polish remover on hand, you could dab with hydrogen peroxide in the same way you would with the nail polish remover. If these chemicals don't work, you can try spraying the area with hairspray and water and dabbing or tamping the stain to get rid of nail polish. To tamp the stain, hit the stain with the edge of a spoon.

To get nail polish out of carpet, first try dabbing at the stain with nail polish remover on a cotton ball, paper towel, or clean rag. If the nail polish remover has acetone in it, first test the remover on a carpet sample or an inconspicuous corner of the carpet to be certain that you won't end up having to re-dye or replace the entire carpet.

On a light colored or colorfast carpet, you could also try spraying water on an old nail polish stain, then dabbing it with hydrogen peroxide. (Test hydrogen peroxide on a carpet sample or corner before using it on your carpet).

Another combination that may work is to first spray water on the nail polish mark and blot, and then spray hair spray on the top of the stain until it is saturated. Next, scrub the stain with a toothbrush. If the stain is still there, try dabbing it with rubbing alcohol.

Sometimes the first method you try doesn't work. Persistence counts in getting out nail polish - keep trying! There are also carpet cleaners available that can help to remove nail polish.

Warning: Don't use bleach on nail polish stains on carpet. There are usually other ways to get the nail polish out, and bleach will take all the color out of your clothes or carpet. While many clothes are now colorfast and thus safe to use bleach on, carpets often are not.

Where Can I find the nail polish DuraMEL?

I bought it in a nail salon in Flushing,NY (f.y.i.11354) I bought it about 2 years ago if not 3 and I love it! It is a great product that actually keeps my nails strong and long(I am a BIG TIME NAIL BITER) This is the only product that seems to work. If I am not mistaken the salon was owned by a Polish family. The Bottle says :Nail Doctor and the complete name is DuraMEL #3 Nail-Thickener. I am also looking for DuraMEL #2. The bottle also says Chempark(with a TM up at the end of Chempark). Please help me!!!!!!

I was painting my nails today and got some of it in my hair (I know, stupid of me.) I'm not sure what to do, can anyone help me?

Nail polish can be pretty messy but it isn't impossible to remove. Just make sure you use non-acetone nail polish remover, put some on a cotton pad and wipe away gently. You can use non-acetone remover on nail polish that has been spilled on clothing and carpet as well.

Be careful not to remove the polish from your fingers, you might have to do some retouches.

How to get nail polish off knee pads?

A teeny bit of nailpolish is on my kneepads but its noticeable. Its red, so people always think its blood or something til I correct them, even though its on the outside so they wonder how it got out there. I tried rubbing nailpolish remover with toilet paper on it to get it out and it smeared a little bit. I've washed the kneepads before in soap like 2-3 times since, and the incident occured a couple months ago, but I want ot fully clean off that stain now, and how do i get it off? :/

Pregnancy and nail polish?

A friend told me not to use nail polish while pregnant because of the chemicals. If I don't keep my nails polished they chip and break easily. It's bad enough the thought of being bloated and tired all the time...now I have to have nasty nails too??!! I'm asking the pregnant women here... do you polish your nails??

yes i polished my nails all the time the doc said there was no problem as long as i couldnt smell it real strong i was safe
if you can smell it strong just go outside or open a couple windows

also prenatal vitamins will help alot with your nails by making them stronger shinier and grow faster (same with hair)

Is it safe to use nail polish and hair dye during pregnancy?

Today my husband asked me if nail polish is safe for me to use during my pregnancy because of the fumes. I remember hearing that hair dye isn't safe either during pregnancy but I dont' remember if it was from a reliable source or not. I've tried looking it up on the internet but can't find a clear answer.

It's fine to color your hair when you are pregnant. The only problem is that your hormones have changed, which changes your hair, which can make your color not what it was supposed to be.

Some people say that the chemicals can be absorbed into your skin and can harm the baby, but no studies have been done on it, which is why some doctors will say to stay away from it for the first trimester. If you normally color your hair, and it makes you feel better about yourself, then do it and don't worry about it.

Fingernail polish and remover are fine. Just use them in a well ventilated area. You don't want to breath the fumes and pass out. But the chemicals won't hurt your baby.

Trust me, not only as a medical professional, but also as a cosmotologist. I have colored many peoples hair when they are pregnant, and when I was pregnant, and had mine done when I was pregnant and both my babies are fine.

If you are worried about it, talk to your doctor.

Do not put unsterile water in your eye at all. The only harm a piece of nail polish can do is to scratch your cornea. If this has happened, you will have what is called a foreign body sensation even though the polish chip is out of your eye. When you put water in your eye, you are pouring bacteria into your eye and into that scratch. That is when you can take a small problem and turn it into a big one. Your tears exist to wash stuff like that out of your eye. Water can be used on things like your body, but not in your eye, and actually not in your sinuses like with a Neti pot. Researchers have even cultured bacteria out of bottled water.

I don't usually bite my nails, but I like to keep them short.
Color ideas I would go for would be a light soft pink, it gives the illusion you're nails are longer. Deep purples, dark blues, and black are also nice on short nails.

The line at Five Below (funky fingers) has some far out shades. Any Rite Aid or Walmart has Schrerer Petites too.
The last one is my all-time favorite polish brand. It comes in like a thousand colors and stays on toenails like nobody's business.

What to use as a base coat for nail polish?

yes, u can. like, a clear is okay for both. at my mom's salon they just use the same thing as both top & base coat. it really doesnt matter, but if u picky about it, u can get both. lol smileyface.

I rarely don't have my nails painted. I've been using OP Natural base coat for a while now, and I do like it I'm just wondering if there's anything better.
Helping the polish last long isn't a huge deal to me, I typically change my nail polish twice a week because my nails grow really fast and much longer after that creates a harsh line between the finger and nail.
Just something to make sure the yellowing doesn't get too bad.
