Does grey nail polish look good on dark skin?

Keke

I have medium-dark skin (like my avatar), would grey nail polish look good on me?
Also, what brands would you recommend? Thanks.

Answer
Hello!!

Grey nail polish might not be a good color choice for you skin tone, but you could always get black nail polish and add silver sparkles on top of it! I would look really awesome.

I think you should also try purples, navy blues, dark reds, and dark greens. They would look best on you! And if you like any other colors, feel free to buy it and try it on your nails!! It might look better than you would expect it to look!(:

Nail polish brands I recommend:
- OPI (around $8 per nail polish)
http://www.opi.com/

- Essie (around $8 per nail polish)
http://www.essie.com/

- Sinful Colors Proffesional (around $1.99 for one bottle)
http://www.sinfulcolors.com/

- Sally Hansen (around $2.99 per bottle)
http://www.sallyhansen.com/

These are all the brands I own and I'm really pleased with the results. They are easy to apply... You can buy them in Target stores, or at any drugstore!!

I hope you got the results you wanted. I spend a long time to come up with an answer that you would be pleased with.

how do you make nail polish without using a clear polish?

Demetra

I really want to know how to make nail polish but everytime I search for it the video or website tells me to just put colour in clear polish... so if I do that im not really making nail polish :/

Answer
You're not going to be able to make 'real' nail polish because it contains things like embalming fluid.

Here's some recipes I found for you.... Please when you rate back if you choose me, let me know how this works out for you!

Recipe 1

Take 1 tbsp of cold pressed olive oil and mix it with ½ tbsp of powdered kaolin clay or white clay, to form a smooth paste. Olive oil will keep your nails and cuticles moisturized while the clay will lend sheen to your nails.
Use henna dye to add color to your nail polish. Henna is available in a variety of colors and can be used to add natural tint to your nail polish. Mix the henna with olive oil, to form a smooth paste.
Use an old nail polish brush or cotton swab to apply the nail polish evenly on your nails. Leave it on for about 15 minutes. If you are using henna to tint your nails, keep in mind to wipe away any extra leftover on skin. Allow your nails to air-dry.
While using henna to color your nails, remember to moisturize it from time to time. You can use a cotton swab dipped in warm water to dab the surface. Keep the polish on for at least an hour or more, depending on the richness of tint.
After the paste has dried off, use a damp cloth to wipe it off from your nails. Rub your nails gently while doing this, to buff up the nails. Repeat the application as often as you want, to have naturally painted glossy nails.

Recipe 2

First of all, you have to gather all the supplies: 1/2 tsp Alkanet Root, 3 tbsp Olive Oil, 1/4 tsp Beeswax, and 2 drops Vitamin E Oil.
Now, use a double boiler to heat up olive oil and alkanet.
After the two ingredients have warmed up, remove them from heat and set aside for 5 minutes, to let them set.
Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer, to separate the alkanet root. Now, pour the strained oil back into double boiler.
Add beeswax to the oil and let it melt. After this, you can mix in the vitamin E oil. Mix well and remove from the boiler.
Use an old nail polish brush to apply the nail polish evenly on your nails. Make sure to avoid smearing it on the surrounding skin.

Im going to the salon to get my fingernails and my toenails done before my highschool reunion which is in 2 weeks and i want to know what brand of nail polish is the best that will last me the longest if i get my nails done this week. Also i want to know what i can do to make my fingernails and toenails look cute for the reunion. The school colors are red and blue. Also what is a good nail enhancement to get on both my fingernails andmy toenails? Should i bring in my own nail polish or use the nail polish at the salon?
by the way im a guy

Answer
I would just use whatever they have at the salon. Most of them carry good polishes.

I would also wear my fingernails natural or plain acrylic (if you want fake nails), and wear red toenail polish. Very simple, always classy. Don't go overboard and paint your nails to match the school colors. You're a grown up, not a 10 yr. old.

How do you make nail polish last?

Silver

My nail polish never lasts, no matter what I do. I am apparently very hard of my nails without even knowing it. I've tried several brands of nail polish and I've used top coats and base coats and nothing works. Whenever I paint my nails the polish is chipped in 12 hours. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Answer
i am hard on my nails to. Who wouldv thought typing on keyboards is hard on nails? lol. I found my nail polish chips at the sides then peeled off. Makes your nails look shitty! :(
I got a acrylic overlay put over my nails. This also helped my nails since they are weak and brittle and peel easily. My nail polish stays for weeks! I get my nails done once every 2-3 weeks depending on if i can aford it. The acrylic helps alot BUT it is damaging to your natural nails because some places use little drill type files. Try to find a place that doesnt and it will help!

Otherwise you can buy sally hansen hard as nails clear polish. Its like a glaze. Its really thick! Like really thick! It might have tiny fiberglass particles im not sure. Its got red writting on the bottle and it looks sort of yellowish color not quiet clear.

Q. How can I make my nail polish last a week or longer ?? It always chips and peels in 24 hours :( I've tried just about everything ! It there any nail polish that lasts , or topcoat or base coat I can use ?? Please help ! Thank you so much :)

Answer
It depends on what nail polish you buy really, i tend to buy nails inc and models own because the other ones dont last long. But putting a good clear coat on top will make it last longer.
But dont paint one coat then another straight after, you should wait at least 40 minutes before you do the next coat because if you paint them straight after they are more likely to chip.
If you dont have that much time though wait at least 15 mins.

Why does my nail polish only last about 12 hours?

Dorothy Si

For some odd reason, nail polish doesn't stick to my nails for very long. No matter the brand or color, the polish starts to chip after about 12 hours. I've tried applying various brands of a top coat and no top coat at all. My results are about the same. What can I do to get the nail polish to last longer?

Answer
one topcoat "SECHE VITE"...unlike most top coats which dry from the top down, this drys from THE BOTTOM UP. It wills eal 3 coats of polish into the nail plate. Working in the industry I saw every kind of top coat promise through out the years. This was presented to me in 1999, cost about 7.50 which I felt was outrageous. The rep gave me one to try, because I had extremely long natural nails...normally had to use 1/2 bottle of OPI polish to cover them...OMG this worked incrediably. And my polish lasted chip free for at least 2 weeks. I have turned all of my friends onto it also...MY BFF went to Hawaii last year for two weeks and had a pedicure for 55$ Before she went, and she used the SECHE VITE topcoat......even with the sand, surf etc...not one nick in 2 weeks...during the summer this should be the ONLY top coat...your pedicures will last so much longer..and I pay 30$ a month for one pedicure so its nice that the polish job lasts so long.

I have an addiction to nail polish. I use it every day, trying out new designs and techniques. Is my health at risk because of this? I'm getting a little scared, because I've been reading about cancer and whatnot.

Answer
yes it can if you use it alot. Some chemicals in nail polish can be harmful if youâre regularly exposed to them. The two most common chemicals are formaldehyde and toluene.

Formaldehyde is used as a hardener in nail polish. Breathing in formaldehyde can irritate your eyes, nose and throat and lungs. There is a known cancer risk if you're exposed to high levels of formaldehyde over long periods through your work. Although it may not be good for you to be exposed to formaldehyde too often, your unborn baby is unlikely to be affected. That's because formaldehyde is rapidly broken down in your body.

Toluene is used to help nail polish glide on more smoothly. Breathing in toluene can irritate your eyes, throat and lungs. Thereâs also a risk that exposure to toluene at high levels can damage the nervous system and cause birth defects in an unborn baby. You'd need to be regularly, directly inhaling toluene fumes for this to be a risk.

If you paint your nails often, or if you work as a nail technician, there may be a small risk from being affected these chemicals.

How to get nail polish off of gel nails?

I just got my gel nails polished using airbrush and the clear coat and airbrushing will not come off, even with acetone. Please help- thank you!

Answer
Don't use any remover with acetone in it. That's what is used to get the fake nails off if you soak them long enough. If non-acetone remover doesn't do it, go back to the Salon.

Inexpensive and easy nail polish storage?

I like to do nails and have nowhere to keep my supplies. I just got a nail polish rack which is great but i also have extra polish and all the extra stuff like remover, Q tips, brushes things like that. I'd really love if someone could give some easy and inexpensive idea's for storage. Thanks!

Answer
For the extra nailpolish a good way to make a quick, cheap stand is to buy wooden door holders, paint them your desired colours and stick them together in a tiered motion. It is cheap and simple to do.

For your extra Q-tips and brushes you can get maybe a tooth brush holder glass and pop them in there.

Will glitter nail polish stay on a hard silicon phone case?

Savanah

I have a white hard silicon phone case and it's all dirty so I wanted to put glitter on it, but I don't have any mod podge glue. So I was thinking about using glitter nail polish.
And I see a lot of people put all different types of nail polishes on their plastic phone cases, so would it work the same on a hard silicon case?
And this may sound stupid.. But.. Would it make a difference if I put like a clear top coat nail polish on after I put the glitter nail polish on?
Because a few people that I've asked have said that the glitters just gonna come off every time I touch it.
So does anyone have any suggestions?
Because I don't wanna try it and end up ruining a perfectly fine phone case. ;P
Thanks to anyone that helps.(:

Answer
yes but they will wear off eventually. just buy a new phone case

How to keep videos with songs on youtube without copyright infringement?

nail art queen
on The Evil Queen - Nail Art Gallery
nail art queen image

jessiedevy

I've uploaded 2 video art pieces with songs (one by Nine Inch Nails, one by Queens of the Stone Age) in the background and it tells me they're rejected because the audio. But how do other people get away with uploading commercial audio?

Answer
I regret to inform you that any music which is not your creation
and used as part of your video is indeed copyright infringement.
Companies like UMG, Warner and Viacom not only "own" their
music, they also "own" the rights to them, which includes how
and where the music can be publicly presented and performed.

Thus they would be 100% within their rights to claim the music
in your video as their own -- especially if you didn't seek written
permission or licence to use it and "broadcast" it over YouTube.
They could easily and legally force YouTube to take your video
"off the air" (potentially banning you) for any number of reasons:

1) If you used "their music", it is considered part of the famous
sentence "unauthorized duplication, whether in whole or in part,
without the expressed written consent of...." Their fear wouldn't
just be about you, but also other people who could conceivably
download, copy or listen to that music without having bought it.

2) You are potentially lessening the value of "their property" by
presenting and "broadcasting" it in a bad-quality, tiny 4x3-inch,
poor-resolution, mono-sounding and possibly amateurish video.

3) They may think your video makes "their property" look either
bad, cheap or unappealing to someone who could otherwise be
considering purchasing "their music".

4) They could also be thinking that anyone's memory or mental
image of "their music" could forever be "haunted" by images of
your video or your YouTube channel if they feel it's in bad taste.
You may involuntarily be "defaming" the artist and/or the music.

Even if you've given due credit on your video to the music label,
the artist or the music itself, that should never be construed as
a validation, excuse or justification for you (and really YouTube)
to "break the law". You can always claim that your video is "for
personal use only", but then they could come back at you with
some interesting questions: A) why did you upload the video to
YouTube, B) why did you "steal" the artist's music, and C) how
did you acquire that music? (note: Even if you bought it legally,
that doesn't give you blanket permission to use it "willy-nilly" or
however you like, as though you're a legal representative of the
artist.)

As for the other people who may be uploading the same music,
either YouTube will get to them eventually or somebody who is
jealous will "flag" their video. If you're willing to take the chance
and reupload your video with the same music, avoid writing the
name of the song or the artist in either your title, description or
tags. Also, donât use sentences like "no copyright infringement
intended", "I do not own the song" or "I don't take any credit for
this music". YouTube's computers search for phrases like that.

You should also bear in mind that the music-recording industry
is beginning to implement the use of inaudible "watermarks" or
"fingerprints" hidden inside their music, in order to uncover and
identify their illicit use. As such, it's conceivable that no matter
how many times you upload your video, it'll always be rejected
because of copyright reasons. You'd thus probably have to find
a different recording of the music you would want to use. If you
noticed other videos using the same music, they were probably
uploaded before this new technology started coming into being.

The only possible exception to everything I just wrote is for you
to use music that is less than 30 seconds long. If you listen to
any talk-show on radio or TV, they will never play or use music
longer than 30 secs during a guest introduction or segué going
into and out of commercials. Guess what the reason is.

I hope my info has been helpful to you.

What purpose do painted fingernails and toenails serve?

Q. it is worth the hundreds of pesos we spend per month for manicure and pedicure?

Answer
Looking back, this started in China around 3000 BC. Through generations, it was a sign of royalty, using gold and silver to enhance the nails. The Egyptians also used nail color to signify social order, with shades of red at the top. Queen Nefertiti, the wife of the king Akhenaton, colored her finger and toe nails ruby red; Cleopatra favored a deep rust red. Women of lower rank who colored their nails were permitted only pale hues.

Ngayon kikay lang yun. (Today is is just plain vanity & fashion.) I am not talking about cleaning your nails but painting them as the question states. You can keep them clean without painting them or spending so much money in the parlor. Not only do we have painted nails in all kinds of hue, we have sculptured nails, false nails, & nail art where they put a picture on your nails.

But I have to admit, they do look good and I am not complaining.

You can try soaking your nails in an ice bath to set the polish or putting them under a nail dryer. If this doesn't work, you could consider trying a new top coat or speed dry nailpolishes.

Wondering what some good ideas for videos would be?

nail art 4 all image

Alayna

I just made a new YouTube account, and I want to actually use it to upload videos, but I don't know what kind of videos I should make. I could do vlogs, or nail art, or cooking. What are some good ideas I could use for videos for YouTube?

Answer
15 Video Ideas:

1.Vlog â Just talk to the camera about your day, or something funny or interesting that happened today or the other day.

2.Skit / Short Movie â Have a funny idea in your head? Write out a rough script, and make it a short film!

3.Artsy â Do you like to paint, draw, make crafts, or create in general? Make a video of you MAKING something! People love watching these videos, as many other artists like being inspired.

4.Talk about art â Even if you canât paint a nice portrait, if art interests you enough to read about it, why donât you talk about different types of art? Other art enthusiasts, fans, and students will watch your video if it is simple, sweet, to the point, AND informative.

5.Music â Do you sing? Maybe you play the piano or guitar? Maybe you even make beats! Anything related to music, you can either post a video of you singing or playing an instrument, or even just post your song with some album artwork as an image for the entire video.

6.Recent Events â Did something happen in the news that you just HAVE to talk about? Do you find yourself talking to your friends and family about things that happen in the news? Well, make a video about it, and youâll have lots of other people listening to you as well!

7.Celebrities â This can go into recent events as well, but celebrities are always doing something crazy or stupid (or both!) â talk about what happened, what you think about it, and ask others to comment on what they think.

8.Tutorials â Is there something that you know how to do that other people WISH they could do? Make a video on HOW to do it (make steps, like step 1 â step 2 â etc.).

9.Parody â Are you funny? Can you make something funny? Make a parody video, music video, or skit about an event, celebrity, song, and make it funny, and people will watch it, AND share it.

10.Music Video â Whether it is a parody, or your own music, or just something funny, make a cool music video that is creative, and post it!

11.Shoutout Video â Donât go overboard with this, or overBORED with this â What I mean is, donât make too many videos like this, because people usually donât like them too much. But hey, make a video where you âshout outâ or give promotion to other video makers. You never know, they might see your video and make one about you!

12.Dancing Video â Do you break dance? Are you good at hip hop, ballroom, or any other type of dance? Make a video showcasing your skills! However, DO NOT make a video of you just shaking your ***, especially if you are underage. The only viewers you will attract will be men between the ages of 25 â 70. Itâs been proven. Just trust me, you donât want to make a âsoft-p0rnâ video, you want to showcase actual SKILLS you have with dancing.

13.Rant Videos â Something bothering you? Do you think other people will have somewhat of the same opinion? Some people actually love hearing other people rant. Just donât HATE on people though, actually go into detail about the things that bother you.

14.Impersonations â This can be a strict impersonation video, where you impersonate a celebrity or actor/actress. Or, you can make this into a skit or even a song, all while you do your best impersonation.

15.Gameplay â Are you a GAMER? Do you have skills, or even just like to have fun while gaming? Make a video of some of your best gameplay for a particular game, and instead of ONLY playing for yourself, youâll have other people watching you play as well â and they may learn a thing or two

I am on a realllly tight budget and can only spend around $15 but I don't want to look cheap either, any suggestions?

Answer
You could buy little lotions, sprays and other girlie items like nail polish, little soaps, a loofah, a one time app face mask- anyways the possibilities are endless and make her a girly gift basket or bag.

You could defiantly do that for $15 if you spent your money wisely. You could pick up a thing or 2 from like, here it's called a Dollar Tree (where everything is a dollar) like the gift bag or basket and a loofah. Some things you could find at the Dollar General Store and then the rest at Walmart, Walgreens or Right Aid. Walgreens is pretty notorious for awesome savings so find a coupon and don't be afraid to use it. Take advantage of that.

Your friend won't know, or even care where you got that stuff and she will really like all the different little gifts instead of just a cd or a shirt.

Cheap and easy ideas for organizing my bedroom?

amanda

I'm a 19 year old girl. I have so much stuff. The main things I need hep organizing is jewlery, boxes(like shipping boxes because I ship stuff out a lot for my business) make up, perfume, lotions, art supplies(paint, paintbrushes, canvases) lots of extra blankets, shoes, clothes scarves, socks. And probably anything else in my room.
I don't have under the bed storage but I do have a large fish tank stand with shelf space underneath. I don't really have a closet anymore, I changed it around to extend my room. I have one little spot in it that I keep shoes and jackets because there's nails in the wall to hang. And that has a shelf on top, and there's another really long shelf. It still has the bar to hang stuff with, but I don't really want to use it besides for scarves. I have a little table with a shelf and a cabinet underneath. Most of my stuff I actually need to use pretty often so that's why I have it all.
Any advice would be appreciated! Stuff I can find around the house would be best. Thanks

Answer
Sounds like what you really need is a set of shelves. Something you can organize all these things on with bins or baskets.
If you need inexpensive, try a second-hand or a consignment store. Otherwise somewhere like IKEA has lots of inexpensive shelf options.

so i looked at it and it is very cute.
i think you need more pictures. and sometimes a lot of text can be overwhelming even though it is important for the viewer to actually read the stuff! lol. try to incorporate more pictures with the directions. Also, you can bold and change the color of key words or sentences in your directions so it is easier for the viewer to read. You of course, need more posts, but I know you're working on that. :)

Try to show me a brand under 15 dollars!

Answer
I can think of two brands you might like.First is Night Brights by O.P.I. There is no toluene or formaldehyde in it as there can be in other nail polishes. They have one shade called Golden Rules and is great for the summer. Then there is Sally Hansen Salon Nail Lacquer. If you need to make your nails stronger this does a good job.It is infused with Keratin to help make your nail get stronger. An it goes on like pure silk ...it just glides on.Good assortment of colors for the summer also.

What should I get my friends for Christmas?

bunnnyy

I have about 8 close friends that I was planning on buying Christmas presents for. I was thinking that i would spend about 15 dollars on each friend.

My friends are pretty girly and they are from ages 14-16. I just need some general ideas. Im so stuck on this because I always buy nail polish and stuff every year.

Any Ideas? Thanksss!

Answer
well...This is the joy of Christmas..... you don't need lot of cash to make a gift...
You could try something symbolic ... something to remind her about The Christmas from 2009.
A little tree (like 25 cm ) a snowing globe ... Forget what people told you that 15$ is too low for Christmas gifts.
I had bough lots of presents in my life under 10$ to boys and girls and I found that not all the time the size, the cost or the value matters.
When you give a little present must be from heart , and something like a surprise .... don't just give it to her ...make a little story.

" Last night Santa had visited me ...and it seems that Rudolf was ill ....got the flew....He also told me that he can't come to you ...but he give me this Christmas gift to give you"

I'm a DIYer using Gelish at home, and I'd like to create a manicure using a gold seashell nail stud. I've seen these all over Instagram - particularly on Japanese manicures - so I know they exist⦠but I can't find them ANYWHERE! I've spent hours googling (seashell nail art, seashell nail studs, clam shell studs, Japanese nail art, ect) and checked out numerous online stores (including Born Pretty, Etsy, eBay, Amazon, and stores that popped up during my searches) and I can't find the seashell studs anywhere!

I'm hoping someone out there is in-the-know and can tell me where I can purchase them online (or in-store in Southern California).

Examples of the seashell nail studs I'm talking about:

This site is great for finding schools in specialized areas. All you would have to do is click on the link, choose the profession (or multiple professions) that you would like to go into and the state you'd like to practice in. The schools will be listed alphabetically by city. This site will send you the schools information and it is totally easy to compare to others.

Oh! One more thing â if you want to ask questions of other beauty students, cosmetology teachers and working beauty professionals across the country, you might want to check out the Beauty School Lounge at http://lounge.beautyschoolsdirectory.com. Itâs a social networking site for people interested in cosmetology, and itâs loaded with good stuff.

How to stop liking a guy?

how to create beautiful nail art

I want to stop liking guys. i mean, I get stuck by expecting but actually, nothing always happens. Sometimes, i wish to be close with a guy, have that guy court me or stuff. i think it's not healthy to like guys if it only makes you assume and hope for nothing. So, what to do?

Answer
Erase him out of your heart. To do that, you should stop thinking about him. Stop daydreaming about him. Thinking like this is very dangerous. So quit it. Plus the people around you will think you are weird. Because it only makes you like him more.

Keep busy. Do some sport, art, hang out with your friends. Girl, have fun. Just because you can't have the guy you like doesn't mean you have to lie on your bed, crying. You are still young and free. Have fun with your life.

Tell a trusted friend/adult. There's nothing worse than trying to get over the guy you can't have alone. Why don't you go phone a friend? Isn't that what friends are for? You can weep with your mom. It's hard to tell your mom but she was a teenager once, she'll know how you feel. Just don't keep this to yourself. You never know, maybe your friend is suffering the same issue too.

Boost your self confidence. You think you are not good enough for him. But don't you ever think that. Maybe he's the one that's not good enough for you. Stop it. God created us all equally. NO one's better that the other. You are beautiful in God's eyes. You are so precious that Jesus died for you. So come be confident. If you want, you can try a makeover. Have a sleepover with friends and do each other's hair and nails.

Don't act weird around him. Been there, done that. The thing you should do is just treat him as a friend. He's not a god. He's just a friend. Just another guy.

Get over him. "Oh, but he's too gorgeous." "He's the only reason that I rise up in the morning." "He brought me joy." It's like he's tattooed into your heart. But snap out of it. You can't have him. God does everything for a reason. Maybe you can't have him for a purpose, whether its because he already has a girlfriend, doesn't want a girlfriend, or because he simply can't have a girlfriend, due to parental and/or religious restrictions. God wants you to have someone better. Look at that guy. Look at him closely. Is he exactly your dream guy? IS he really he perfect one? IN 10 years will you still like him? He doesn't deserve you. There's someone out there better for you. You are gonna be ok, sweetie. You lived without him once. You can do it again. Open your eyes, there are far more important things to do than to think about the guy you can't have.

Tips:
Feel pretty. You deserve a whole lot better than him
Smile and laugh lots. It really helps.
Go hang out with your buddies and have fun
Instead of moping in your room do something to keep you busy.
Pray about it. Read the Bible.
Listen to music that relates to what you are going through.
Don't be afraid to cry. Cry with a mate. It makes a difference.
Keep an eye for that perfect guy of yours. Be open.

Warnings:
Do not act weird around him
Don't seek for revenge just because you can't have him. If he has a girlfriend. Don't bother her. Don't do anything mean to her. You're better than that.
Don't try break them up- if you do, both of them will most likely be mad at you and the guy wont give you a chance.
Just because your sad, don't eat so much chocolate. It can make you sick. Eat something healthy like mangoes or strawberries with salt.It tastes better than you think.

Anybody know how to make tin can luminaries?

Cassandra

I am trying to make them and when I freeze the water filled can the bottom pushes out and then they don't stand up straight when finished. Anybody know how to prevent this???

Answer
Tin can luminaries are a fun, easy craft project for all ages.
They are great for any holiday and only limited by your
imagination! You can transfer any simple shape onto a tin can to
create a beautiful candle holder for any occasion.

I chose to make luminaries for Christmas this year. You can
choose any simple design to transfer onto your tin can. I used a
favorite clip art program on my computer to look for easy
Christmas designs to print out. I chose a Christmas tree, a
snowman, and a pair of gingerbread men.

Here's what you need to get started:

- Empty tin cans (washed and labels removed)

- Design to transfer onto can

- Hammer

- Large nail

- Tape

- Dish towel

It is easiest to punch the holes in your tin can if you freeze
some water in it first. Fill the can with water, leaving 1/4
inch space at the top for the ice to expand. Place in freezer
until frozen. Your can may bulge a little at the bottom while in
the freezer, but after you remove the ice you can use the hammer
to flatten out the bottom of the can.

You might want to freeze a couple more cans then you think you'll
need in case you make a mistake and have to start over again.

After the ice has frozen, take the tin can from the freezer and
tape your design to the can. I used packing tape, but you can
also use duct tape. The tape won't stick to the cold can, but
you can wrap the tape all the way around the can so it will stick
to the paper.

If you don't have a design on paper, you can also draw a design
on the can freehand with a permanent marker. You can also just
punch the design freehand without drawing it first.

Lay the can on a folded dish towel so the towel will catch the
ice chips that try to escape. It will also hold the can in
place. Using the hammer and nail, tap holes around the border of
your design, trying to punch holes evenly and not too close
together. You want a simple design so that when you see only the
holes in the can you will be able to tell what it is!

After punching the holes, remove the paper and tape and admire
your design. It is really so easy! If you plan to hang your
luminary, also punch two holes at the top of the can. You can
make a handle out of wire (from a craft store) or a wire coat
hanger.

Place the tin can under running warm water to melt the ice. Dry
the can with a towel and place a votive candle in the bottom.
You will need a long lighter or match to light the candle.

To further decorate your tin can luminary, you can spray paint
the can any color you wish. Be creative!

This is a great family project. Just make sure kids have adult
supervision while using the hammer and nails. Have fun!
