Where can I find organic-cruelty-free nail polish in black?

I only wear black nail polish and Bare Escentuals does not sell nail polish. Every other cruelty-free makeup company I know of is not organic and every other organic makeup company is not cruelty-free.

Answer
Your best bet would be to go for water-based nail polishes. Your local co-op should sell them. Here's a link to a website that sells organic, water-based, vegan nail polishes. You can see that there is black available that is organic AND vegan! :D Here's the link, http://www.suncoatproducts.com/index-polish.htm You'll see the black color if you scroll all the way down, it's at the very bottom of the index table they made.
hope i helped :)

nail polish safe for children and adults that doesn't have those nasty chemicals?

Loving Arm

The kids who's nails I'd be painting are 10 ;) not little babies. And they want their nails done. I refuse to put chemicals anywhere near them, or me. Suggestions on a nail polish I can easily find in most stores that's safe?
anyone know the answer to this?

Answer
Hi there! I attended a sustainability conference last year where they discussed eco-friendly products. Nail polish came up, and I learned of a few brands that are "three-free" (or free of formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP):

Butter London

Peacekeeper Nail Polish

Zoya (http://www.kaboodle.com/beauty/blog/article/eco-pick-zoyas-la-di-da-collection)...which is also vegan

Acquarella

Priti (whose ingredients are all organic)

Safe Nail Polish

You can all of these easily online. Hope this helps!

Where to Buy Glitter Nail Art Kits?

Techaxess

I wanted to buy a cheap but professional glitter nail art kit products. Where can I go online to buy this?

I really appreciate anyone who will give their time to answer my question.

Answer
If you are looking for Glitter Nail Art products feel free to visit www.glitties.com. We do have a lot of Glitter Nail Art Kit and Supplies.

http://www.glitties.com/kits.html

Glitties is a DIY nail art company that allows you to create your own salon quality glitter nails at home. Glitties provides over 150 colors, shapes and sizes of glitter allowing you to customize your nail art to suit your style and personality. Popularly known for its glitter toes, Glitties is a popular item for everyone from bridal parties to birthday parties, a favorite activity for girlâs night and is the coolest gift given from Grandma.

Glitties was created in 2008 by cosmetologist Amanda Best after she learned how expensive it was to paint her nieces -and everyone else in her families - nails using her salon materials. Amanda researched hundreds of polishes to determine what chemical combinations worked best as top coats and base coats to develop a formula that would still provide a beautiful nail and durable finish. She then teamed up with a chemist and together they developed a salon quality nail art formula known today as Glitties.

A fun aspect of Glitties is the ability to customize your own nail art design. Unlike regular nail polish, you can be as creative as you wish mixing different colors, sizes and shapes. Glitties also provides a recipe guide to show you creations to try. Each year Glitties also introduces new polish to match the spring and fall fashion colors of the year!

Since its opening in 2008, Glitties has seen tremendous growth. Today, Glitties nail art can be found online and at select salons and boutiques.

what are some unique features we can add to our school?

nail art vending machine
 on Art Vending Machine
nail art vending machine image

Seldom Sce

Ok..so im in the school council. We have about £5000 to spend on any kind of technology. We already have computers/printers and things like that. We want technology that will make our school better

Im just wondering if there is any new technology out there which we can add to make our school noticed

Or technology you have seen in a school and thought it was good for the students. We are a secondary school by the way (11-16)

Please help! Thanks in advance!

Answer
Any advanced/up to date programs for computers, (think Photoshop, the newest Microsoft programs, Career/Options Programs and programs for: gaming, moviemaking, website building etc) are always nice to have.
Our school's really up-to-date: We have a Smartboard in every classroom (which I really recommend, although they are very expensive). And many of our classrooms (science, maths, tech, ICT and the library) have (vista) computers. And we have two sets of laptops to go round different departments (20 in each set).

Our PE depart also has a Wii Fit which is used by a few people for about 15 minutes during a lesson while the other kids do PE and then they swamp so everyone gets a go. You might want to consider other sports equipment as well.

We also have a jukebox for the canteen.
And sinks (water fountains are really unhygienic) and a vending machine for the corridors. And I think we recently spent some money on a big screen TV for the reception room so parents visiting the school could watch short videos about the school made by students. A Smardboard/Projector for the hall, gym or wherever you have assemblies is also useful.

Because the school I go to is a Performing Arts school so we spend a lot on our Drama department (We spent about £20,000, I think, building a dance studio) so if your schools into drama, dance, music etc you could spend money there on things like: Stage Lights, Recording Equipment (Video, Sound and Pictures), Musical Instruments (We have about 30 keyboards and loads of other instruments), Microphones, Anything for special affects (We have a big stage with trap doors, a balcony, hidden doors, and two 'secret rooms' -you can tell our school does a lot of shows).

You could also spend money on things like:
Sewing Machines, Edging Machines (Sorry I don't know the proper names for these), and irons; for Textiles (Technology) lessons.
Ovens, Blenders, Microwaves, Fridges and other cooking equipment; for Food Technology.
Any power-tools or plastic moulding machines for Wood/Metal Work or graphic design lessons.
The science department is also good to spend money on: Anything that could be used in experiments.
Media and EEnterprise Classes are also good to spend technology on since you do a lot of practical things in those lessons (In media we make movies and magazines and Enterprise we have to run our own business - I think some students have made quite a bit of money that way and my two friends who take Enterprise our starting their own Beauty/Nail Salon in the local youth centre).
I also take child development and in there we use these robotic babies who we take home for the weekend and it acts like a real baby and has a sensor on the back so the teacher knows how well your able to look after a baby.

If I were you I would go round the school and see what kind of things teachers want to help them with their lessons. You could also check out your local gym, youth centre and city learning centres for lots of inspiration and could send surveys round the different classes to see what other people want.

How is this excerpt so far?

Monica

Elisha Carpenter's blond hair tousled as she sat next to the fan in Mrs. Winters' Algebra class.
Her brown eyes watered when she inhaled dust particle that were in the air. Her allergies were coming and she needed to see the nurse for her medicine. Not now because she needed to find out about integer's. Mark Garwood sat two rows in front of her, the back of his curly dark-blond hair facing her. She sighed, placing her hand underneath her chin. She was sure they had broken up. They haven't talked since Stephanie's Halloween party. And it had ended pretty nasty. She only hoped things could get better.

She packed up her things and headed out of the class when she was stopped by someone she would have never guessed would stop her. Mark.
"Oh," she said, surprised, "hi."
"Hey," he waved, smiling guiltily. "Can we talk?"
They walked past the sea of students who were just standing in the hallway. Elisha hated when people just stood in hallways. They were clearly inconsiderate to the thousands of students who needed to get to class. She frowned when she saw Holly and Damien holding hands near the vending machines. At least they were happy.

Mark took a seat on one of the benches, crossing his feat. Elisha did the same thing, making sure she didn't sit so close to him. Awkwardness always made her feel awkward.
"I was thinking." he said. "About us. I mean, I know we've said things we didn't mean."
I meant what I said. Elisha thought.
"But I just want to say I'm sorry." he finished, smiling at her hopefully.
"I'm sorry too." she said, smiling slightly. "I was kind of a jerk to you."
"It's okay." he said, taking her hand. "We all make mistakes."
Elisha shivered. Was he admitting to her being a jerk? He wasn't supposed to do that. Suddenly, a spark flew from above them. She yelped, jumping up.

Mark looked up and saw that the light above them had went out. Bypassers laughed at Elisha's reaction. She had to laugh herself. It was so sudden that she didn't even know what had happened. Her and Mark were now on good terms, so she wasn't so annoyed with anyone.
He placed a kiss on her lips and took her by the arm. Elisha was led to their ceramics class. Mrs. Lang stood in front of the chalkboard drawing diagrams of different potteries.
She slid into the seat next to Melissa Johnston who was talking on her cellphone. Since she had Demi sitting next to her and a had on, Lang couldn't see her talking on the phone.
"Oh, Josh Arts was telling me how Shelbi found out that Brandon had cheated on her." gossiped Demi, examining her nails.

Elisha rolled her eyes. She knew there would only be a matter of time before Shelbi Glick would find out that Brandon Albertson was cheating on her with Pam Wheaton. It was obvious. She kind of thought Brandon deserved to be caught. Shelbi didn't deserve a boyfriend like that. She certainly didn't deserve a best friend like Pam. She sighed sadly. Drama, drama, drama.
She was getting annoyed with. She just wished one day could be a day without drama. A peaceful day in Heaven. That was all she was asking for.

She looked at Lang. She was a weird teacher. All she talked about was "feeling your clay" and "let the clay feel you". It was very strange to Elisha. She had no idea what the woman was saying half of the time. What was worse was that the woman expected her and the clay to be "best friends". How can she be best friends with an inanimate object. It was beyond stupid. A lot of art teachers were weird, it seemed.

Answer
its a good excerpt, you didnt pose much conflict but I like how she and her boyfriend were having a fight
maybe later you'll explain what had happened at the party and what they'd said to each other.
i guess you have actually left the reader in suspense by saying that stuff about their fight and how you didnt explain it

nice strong main character, I love the name, but you're gonna have to use more punctuation.
if you wanted to get this published, you could post it on this website

it is a great site for aspiring authors

How can I get nail polish off my IPod case?

Shop

This isn't a small stain of nail polish that I can just take off with a little nail-polish remover. I painted my entire I-Pod Touch case green with some white designs because my regular case was peeling off. It's lasted 3 months, and I could have probably lasted more, but I just a little tired of the color and I wanted to change it again. I was planning on just using a lot of nail-polish remover but I figured there might have been an easier way. Is there?

Answer
Re-paint it a different color.

What should I do to prepare for a job interview?

ichigofrui

I'm interviewing at a local pizzeria (not a chain, just local). I've never had a job interview, so I don't know the first thing about how to start. What should I wear? Is nail polish okay/appropriate? What kinds of questions should I be expecting? What should I do beforehand?

Answer
Okay first relax. When going to the interview, dress business causal, such as slacks and a blouse or nice skirt and blouse. Fingernail polish should be a natural color, nothing that pops out like a wild colors with funky designs unless it has good taste. Since in restaurant business your heading to might shy away from the designs and artificial nails and simple paint nails a light pink or such. When heading to the interview bring along a resume showing what type of volunteer and activities you have done. They will be pleased you went the extra mile creating one for them and bring it to the interview. For the questions of the interview, just relax and be yourself. Answer them the best you know how and do it honestly.

Is it inapropriate to wear red nail polish to a job interview?

YD

I got my nails done and my interview is tommorrow I just found out 20 minutes ago and I dont have time to go to the salon. Can it make me loose points to have red nail polish? It's an office setting.

Answer
i don't think it will be a big deal, just make sure it isn't like bright fire engine red. even so, i doubt it will count against you.

What is the point of the new nail polish trend with one nail a different color?

nail art trends
 on Katt Claws: Galaxy Nails
nail art trends image

J

Lately i've been seeing SO many girls with their nails painted, with one nail on each hand painted a different color than the rest. What is the point of this new trend?

Answer
Accent nails? Well, if you think that two colors look nice together, like blue and silver or hot pink and black, but you don't have the skill or creativity to do nail art, it's an easy option. Also, if you want to use a really bright, in your face kind of polish like a neon or glitter but don't want to over do it, putting it on only one nail tones it down while still being able to wear it. It's also a way to save discontinued or special nail polishes like flakes or holographics and preserve them. If you do nail art like me, I'll do a particularly difficult design on only one nail to keep it from looking too cluttered, and it saves me time.
Hope I helped. :)

What do you need in a nail decorating kit?

Bluefeathe

You know you can buy fake nails in shops with all the cute decorations, what equipment would you need to do that yourself? I mean what do they stick on them (plastic or clay?), how do they colour it, what sort of kit etc.

Answer
As far as I know, you can use these to decorate the nails:

Rhinestones in various shapes & kinds
Microbeads (or micro-caviars)
Powders
Moss/Cotton for nails (they're kinda new I think)
Polymer clay sticks that you can slice to put on your nails
Matte top coat (somewhat new trend)
Nail art stamps (the common brand is Konad, you use this thing to make flower patterns/laces, etc)
A set of nail art brush (there's usually like 15 of them)
A set of dotting pens in various sizes
Acrylic paint (to make drawings on nails)
Nail sponge
Sticker strips
Tweezers

And a good top coat to seal the designs. I usually bought my nail art stuffs at Amazon. Hope this helps!

How can I actually have fun at parties I plan?

Cheerleade

So I always plan these fantastic parties, but after they are done with, they don't live up to what I thought they would, and I am like " aw man. That party wasn't fun :("
I just had my 13th birthday party, and yes it was fun, but I thought it was going to be much funner.
I spend weeks and weeks planning a super fun party, we spend the whole week cleaning the house, a day decorating, and I feel like it just didn't go as I had hoped!! How can I plan a party that wil live up to my expectations, or at least lower my expectations of a fun party :)

Answer
dear chris here is the real psychology on this...you have expectations and with them the party will never be what you want it to be...

to be happy with the party and the outcome you need no...yes no expectations

it sounds like you have a game plan and are prepared..i think i would put more time into activities for everyone and less time on what you expect...

you need to have games that are fast and easy ...a container with a lot of small objects...let people look at it say nothing...later hide the pan and give everyone pen and paper and 30 seconds to write...

have great prizes in a basket...sunscreen...nail polish...key chains..

bobbing for apples...

a pinyata is fun...

pair people for the 2 minute checker challenge....

provide party cameras sitting around for guest to use...(disposable cameras)

have food in 2 areas...

balloons and a couple colors keep it simple....

i think fun is seeing your friends happy and gathered together...that makes for a great party...

i think wining prizes makes everyone happy too...

have container of various sizes and fill with jelly beans or candy bars...use post it nots and have everyone guess the number amount...they win the container for the closest guessed #

do a cake walk...circles in a circle music and walk and stop music...less chairs than people...have a actual cake to win...small cakes work the best...

i like that you decorate...i like that you plan...

i think if you focused on creating memories...and not expect specifics...you'll be happier

happy birthday

good luck

relax

Is it true that most nail polish and nail polish removers are toxic or carcinogenic?

nail polish alternatives
on The best nail polish brands | Nails and Polish
nail polish alternatives image

kheper

If so, what are the alternatives for someone who uses nail polish on a daily basis? Thanks.

Answer
No, they're not. Most nail polishes (OPI, Rimmel, China Glaze, Essie, L'Oreal, NYC, Sally Hansen, etc) are free of the chemicals (toluene, formaldehyde, and dibutyl phthlate) that have been associated with cancer. However, even your nail polish contains those chemicals the chances of getting cancer from them is rare. You would have to literally huff your nail polish (if it has those chemicals I've listed) in a non ventilated room repeatedly to be at risk. As long as you're apply your nail polish in a well-ventilated room you should have no problems.

However, I like to play it safe so I opt for polishes free of the chemicals.

What can I use to remove nail polish besides nail polish remover?

Q. I've run out of nail polish remover and I need to remove some nail polish (thought I would have enough when I was removing the nail polish but I didn't), anyone know of an alternative? Thanks.

Answer
Nail polish. Seriously, aha.

Just put on nail polish like normal, but don't let it dry. Wipe it off as soon as you put it on. It'll come off, and the polish under it -the one you're trying to get off- will as well.

How do I get rid of yellow nails from dark polish and no base coat?

Princess

I got into a really bad habit of not putting on base coat when I painted my nails and now I can't get rid of this yellow look on my nails. I have tried soaking them in lemon juice but that doesn't work. I am looking for any suggestions.

Answer
Wow your in for a treat! I just read this magazine article on 10 brilliant uses for toothpaste here I'll quote it for you

"Oops! You gave yourself a knockout manicure but you forgot to apply a base coat before painting your nails a dark color. And now that you've removed the polish, your nails have taken on a yellowish tin! To get them back to their normal shade, apply whitening toothpaste on an old toothbrush, and use tiny circular motions to scrub the surface of each fingernail. The detergents in the toothpaste lift off stain-causing particles, returning your nails to top form in no time."

Hope this helps!

How do I report image theft on e-bay?

nail art images image

Nita9

I have a website with art images that I created, and I recently found out that someone has taken those images and is selling them as nail decals on e-bay. I posted this on a forum I go to and someone gave me a link to where you can report this sort of thing on e-bay. Then the dopey moderator removed the whole post because apparently I was violating forum guidelines in talking about e-bay.

So my point is, where do I go in e-bay to report image theft?

Thank you!

Answer
Here is a site with all the info you need.

By the way, this from FINDLAW.COM "If you created a work of visual art, then there most certainly is a copyright"

Reporting Image Theft
How To Report Stolen Images, Text, and Website Content

http://www.khulsey.com/reporting_image_theft.html

You can report photo theft by sending an email including eBay Item ID/Number.
Or use ONLINE COTACT FORM at website
This from another source...
Also any of following information is useful to track down the photo theft.
- eBay seller's member ID
- eBay seller's store name
- eBay Item Title
- webpage address/url of the listing that contains photo

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/vero-image-text-theft.html

Contrary to popular belief,I believe that images and such are NOT free for the taking just because there is no copyright.
this is called intellectual property and is protected as such.
If you can prove your the artist, etc and you posted something stating that the images are not free for use or something to that effect.

try FindLaw.com and post your question, there are Lawyers that can help you with this sticky situation.
It can be very confusing, it is always wise to copyright your images

Hope this helps.

what is the nail polish trend?

Adriana

I've been really un-inspired with my nails lately. I used to always have my nails painted but I don't know what colors to do anymore. what are the summer 2013 trends?

Answer
Anything ombré! Omg I've seen so much. American stripes, animal texture-like prints, and coral and sapphire are what I've seen a lot of lately, but I see a lot of ombré. Not sure how to do them though....

Sorry I'm not sure when they'll go on sale again.. you'll have to keep checking every week. The stores don't know until usually the day before the sale starts.

i don't use any makeup at all and i am thinking of getting some stuff to start with. what should I get? I also don't have a lot of nail polish. what colors should I get?

Answer
All you need are a good set of tools and some basics and practice. For tools, I suggest you get the Borghese set of brushes from Costco. They are around $20-$25 and have a great range of brushes small to large. The kit even comes with explanations on what each brush is for. It was also recommended in Makeup Artist magazine as a great beginner kit.

A beautiful makeup starts with a good face. A simple routine is:

1. Wash your face with anti-bacterial soap. It is so simple, and it's something my aesthetician friends and cosmetologists taught me.

2. Wash with Ponds Deep Cleanser and Make-up Remover. Very moisturizing and clean.

3. Use a nice toner like Clean and Clear Cooling Daily Pore Toner. Light scent, VERY mild.

4. Moisturizer: Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer. Very light and clean, but also has a 45 SPF. 45 SPF never felt so comfortable before this.

All you really need to look good is some concealer for putting in key areas, not foundation all over the face. I like to use MAC concealers, they have a great texture and blend well. Go in and test them. Just remember not to squeeze out too much because a little bit goes a long way.

If you do want a foundation, a great store brand is Cover Girl's Advanced Radiance. It's a slim pump bottle. The display has something that makes it really simple to find the right shade. Take their little card and hold it to your skin; whichever color disappears against your skin is the shade for you. I found it ingenious because I'm a professional makeup artist and use all sorts of brands from MAC to less known industry standard makeup. Here, you don't have to have any skill and you can still find the perfect makeup shade without having to go to an expensive counter and hope the sales artist gets it right. And honestly, I've hired some of those girls, and their experience ranges from amateur to expert. I don't like to hope for good luck myself. The product is smooth and blends really perfect. It's light and I had no creasing. To get it perfect, grab a mirror and hold the card to your face. Yeah, I said to your skin, so wash your face after, but you'll get the color match exact!

For eyes, if you like a defined brow, use a brow brush (small and cut at an angle, and softly fill. You can always add more product. To do eyeshadow, start with a palette that has many colors so you can practice. Some simple ideas are earthtones or doing one shadow on the lid and then a highlight at the corner of the brow beneath the end of the eyebrow. There are more detailed ideas, but start easy. Experiment in your free time and take pictures so you can see or repeat what you did. A lot of people will also coordinate and take a color or several colors from their outfits. In the beginning, just start with 1 color.

For lashes, Cover Girl Volume Exact is clean and easy. Just do a tight, quick, swirl with the brush to keep the application clean and clump free.

Basically, it's like anything you want to learn to do well: talk to people who do it, like friends, here online, at makeup counters. Practice. Buy good tools and supplies. Everything good doesn't HAVE to be from the counter, but wonderful things ARE at the counter too.

There are wonderful and easy things to do with blushes, creams, lip glosses, liners, lipsticks, but these are also the best places to just start experimenting.

I've put the Makeup 411 site below, it has great breakdowns (explanations and supply lists) of what artists have used on their actors.

Also, I added links that are great starter resources. Makeup Alley is great because it's got lots of reviews on ALL SORTS of products. So far, I've been able to find reviews on EVERY product I typed in, and that's saying a lot for me.

Oh yeah, and whatever you do, when you go to counters, don't believe the hype, don't get intimidated. Makeup is an art and I've met all sorts of people. Everyone can do it. I know I sound like the chef character in Ratatouille, but I'm serious. I have met a lot of people of all types who never did it before, and once I started teaching them, they picked it up and ran with it. Mistakes and success, a sense of beauty, esteem, or creativity, it's all about learning and building and having fun. Experiment with anything you want, from subtle and barely there to cutting edge and pro.

Good luck and have fun,
Margaret

what are the best beauty gurus on youtube?

sweetstraw

I watch a lot, I mean A LOT. Of beauty gurus already, but I just wanted to know more out there or what you think is the best?

Answer
I love

Diamondsandheels14- she puts up a new video every single day and is VERY knowledgable about the products she uses. she gives honest opinions and does a multitude of videos like makeup, fashion, and skin care, as well as lifestyle.

Juicystar07- not my favorite but i do watch her videos. She mostly uses high end products which are far out of my budget though...also, she doesn't seem to be doing that many beauty videos as of late, but she has become very successful lately.

Macbarbie07- I just started watching her videos and she seems really sweet. she uses a multitude of products ranging from drugstore makeup to high end stuff. she really cares about her viewers which i like and gives honest opinions.

Cutepolish- the best nail guru on the web! she has the PRETTIEST nail art designs and makes them look soooo easy! she is truly talented

Meganheartsmakeup- she's a young guru but also seems really sweet. She has a long way to go but she is also just starting out. She also works in partnership with seventeen magazine.

Missglamorazzi- A very nice guru who is very honest on camera. She is comfortable in her own skin and is just an overall beautiful person.

Krazyrayray- She is a 14 year old girl and she looks really sweet. She uses mostly drugstore products but does have some high end. She obviously loves what she does and is doing GREAT for being so young.

For hair videos i follow-----

Cutegirlhairstyles- I LOVE THEM! its a mother who does her four daughters' hair in beautiful braids and twists! it's a whole family effort as the dad films, kids are the test dummies (if you will), and the mom is the braider. They are a lovely family and have adopted two kids.

Lilithedarkofthemoon- she is a stunning woman (from russia i believe...) and she also does beautiful braids that are more for older girls (teens and older)

hair4myprincess- a mother daughter duo! the mother does really intricate braids usually based from princesses or movies or shows but they are lovely styles that are perfect for young girls!

good luck!
