How do you safely remove wood ticks?

nail polish vector

HAWKEYE

Answer
Remove the tick properly. Using sharp pointed tweezers, or specially made tick tweezers, grasp the tick as close to your skin as possible, as close to its embedded mouthparts as you can. If you squeeze the body or head, you risk compressing the guts and salivary glands and expelling even more organisms through their mouth into your body.

Do not twist the tick or turn the tweezers as you pull out the tick. Pull out straight with a slow, steady motion. Twisting may force more organisms into your body, and may result in the head or more of the mouthparts being left in your body.

Do not apply any substances to the tick before removing it - no alcohol or nail polish, no petroleum jelly or other ointments, and do not try to burn it out or otherwise convince to let go of you. It won't let go. It will just happily keep on sucking your blood and pumping pathogens into you.
Save the tick or any nymphs or larvae that you find on you. Store them in a clean glass jar or film container, tightly lidded and labeled with the date you pulled the tick off you and the location you were when you acquired the tick.

Ideally, you should have the tick tested right away to see what it contains. Ixodes pacificus is currently the only western tick associated with Babesia, Bartonella, Borrelia and Ehrlichia, but other ticks, such as the Dermacentor variabilis (American Dog tick) can carry pathogenic organisms causing diseases in humans and domestic pets (in this case, Rocky Mountain spotted fever and tularemia); Dermacentor andersonii is also a vector for RMSF.

A good rule of thumb: have all ticks tested regardless of species. There is a fee associated with tick testing.

Does anyone know how to do a nail art easily at home?

All i do is just paint it or make a french tip style but do you know how do do easy-to-do nail art at home just by simple things like tooth pick or what ever? please help :)

Answer
There's always the toothpick trick, where you dip it in some nail polish and put a dot in the middle of your nail, then put 5 dots around the center dot and drag the outside dots to create petals. Also, there are really really fine tipped paint brushes you can get that make things like hears or stars easier. Recently, I found some Sally Hansen Nail Art Pens and a Target store. Try looking for them in any beauty store or even a drug store may have them. I LOVE MINE.

I am intrested in nail art. Dose anyone know a goood website where I can find a good selection in nail art supplies (jewls, flowers, rhinostones, ect.) relitevily chep? Please anwser.

Answer
www.dollarnailart.com

great source for beginners. their rhinestones aren't the greatest of quality, though. i get mine on ebay, and they're usually labeled as 'korean rhinestones'. they aren't as sparkly as swarovski crystals, but they're much better than other acrylic gems.

for stripers, those bottles of colored polish that have long thin brushes used for creating lines, i find that a lot of cheap mom-and-pop owned beauty supply stores (not like a sally's) have them for only 2-3 bucks each. you shouldn't have to pay more than that for them.

also, acrylic craft paint is PERFECT for nail art. it's water-based, so if you make a mistake you can just wipe it off before it dries. use a tiny paintbrush or even a toothpick to draw designs with them. they're only like 45 cents or so per color at walmart. just remember to seal the art with a layer of topcoat.

Who knows what continues to grow after death?

Shawn John

I heard hair and nails continue to grow even after a person has died

Answer
.
NO IT DOES NOT, SO WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DIE ?

Jesus said: â . . . saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.â [Revelation 17-18]

What is Death ? â Death is a return to the ground:

âIn the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.â [Genesis 3:19]
âThen shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.â [Ecclesiastes 12.7]

When everyone is born God supplied the 'breath of life' and he becomes a living soul.
âAnd the LORD God . . . breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. â [Genesis 2:7]

Note: man IS a soul, man does not posses a soul

At death, when a man's breath goes forth, he dies - his being, his "soul" perishes. only a living man is a living soul.! Dead is dead. There is no "soul" that goes out of the body to live elsewhere! No "soul" goes immediately to heaven or hell. Dead is dead!
âFor as the body without the spirit is dead, . .â [James2.26]

The Sleep of Death.

At death the body returns to dust and the life force (not the soul) to the creator
â . . . but the dead know not any thing, .â [Ecclesiastes 9.5]
âHis breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.â [Psalm 146.4]
Lazarus was dead four days, yet he gave no report of any âlife after deathâ experience. (refer John 11.39)
The Bible uses âsleepâ as a figure of speech for death.
Jesus said: â. . . Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; . . â [John 11.11]
David prayed âConsider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;â [Psalm 13.3]
âAnd they stoned Stephen, . . . Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.â [Acts 7.59-60]
â. . . the fathers fell asleep, . . â [2 Peter 3.4]

âAnd as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: â [Hebrews 9:27]

The Hope of Resurrection â âAwake and Singâ

Death is NOT the end. There is hope. As there is a falling asleep, there is a waking up.

âThy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: . . .â [Isaiah 26.19]
â . . . them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake . . . â [Daniel 12.2]
The next event that everyone will experience will be the resurrection, as John says, to face the results of his judgment.
âAnd shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. â [John 5:29]
Jesus said: âI am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:â [John 11.25]

What does it mean to âbelieve in Jesusâ? â
To believe that He is the ONLY source of resurrection life; that He paid the penalty for all of our sins when He dies on the cross and by His resurrection made possible our resurrection to eternal life; then by prayer we can invite Jesus into our lives and experience His resurrection power for daily living.

The best way you can prepare for death is to get to know Jesus right now by prayer and Bible reading. You could pray this prayer right now â

Dear God in heaven, I know that I am a sinner. And I know that you sent your son Jesus to die on the cross for my sins and that he rose from the dead in 3 days. I want Jesus to come into my heart and have all my sins forgiven. Please help me and guide me through my walk in the faith. Lord please accept my prayer in the name of Your Son, Jesus, Amen.

May God bless you as you study His Word

what are your opinions on southern california?

ashleeydan

okay, so i live in southern california.

i know a lot of people think we are
allll superficial fake blondes
who have fake boobs and mansions
and get everything we want.

and stuff but it's totally not like that
where i live. i live 5 minutes away from the beach but it's
still not like that!

so what do you think about southern california/or california in general?

&have you ever been here?

Answer
I was born and raised in the 50's in Orange County. You could hear the train from 30 miles away and we had orange groves everywhere. We had fields of strawberries and we got to glean them when the pickers were finished and on several years we had a community garden somewhere around 17th st. I loved going to Prentice Park in Santa Ana, and Irvine Park w/ the little train. No homes were out there then. Every kid had a story about getting pooped on by the pidgeons at San Juan Capistrano mission during a school field trip. My brothers and I used to sit on our roof at night and watch the fireworks from Disneyland. I loved the Santa Ana winds. It seemed to invigorate us. We would have a neighborhood baseball game in the street.

As a teen, I would take the bus down Harbor Blvd to the beach. In the late 60's Beach Blvd (Hwy 39?) all the way to Huntington Beach was lined with "head shops" painted with psychedelic art. I wish I'd taken a picture, they didn't last long. The beaches were filled with kids and hippies, not snooty rich folks. The Golden Bear in Huntington headlined Linda Rondstat and the Stone Ponies. Mom and I used to buy fish right from the fisherman's little boat at Newport. They have booths there now. The Crab Cooker in Newport is God's gift to seafood lovers. As kids we spent time playing in tide pools, body surfing the waves, riding bikes, climbing trees, having rotten orange fights, nailing our skates to a board (the first skateboards) and trying not to biff it when rolling down the driveway. Our T.V. programs were wholesome like Engineer Bill and Sheriff John, the Mickey Mouse club, but we didn't spend much time sitting in front of a T.V. and certainly not playing video games or texting.

In the 70's things changed a bit. Many more people moved in and started erecting buildings where the fields and orange groves used to be. We'd always had ethnic diversity and all us white kids learned Spanish, of course, but my Mexican and Black friends spoke English. It got to where you would hear Cambodian or Spanish, or whatever, around you in the stores rather than English so it didn't feel the same. We felt the same unrest that the nation felt, especially after the Watts riots in '65. Pollution got really bad, even out at the beach. Huntington had a chain link fence for god's sake! In Riverside County it was impossible to see 5 miles because of the smog. So in 1980 I decided to raise my own kids in northern Ca near a lake and with lots of play room. I'm glad to say that in visiting south in later years things had gotten cleaned up considerably. It's beautiful again in many parts but there are still too many people, in my opinion.

I didn't mean to turn this into nostalgia time but I guess the point is that you look at everything from your own perspective and through your own eyes of experience. I have met wonderful people all over the world. When Satan is not actively influencing a situation then people generally want to be good and kind. We all love our families and try our best to live life well. When I meet shallow city girls like they depict in the reality programs I have to laugh. My net worth is a couple million dollars but I know that isn't where happiness comes from. Their phoniness comes from insecurity and that is what the nation looks at and judges California by. I've never watched "the housewives of Orange County" but I know the type. And that's what we want the nation to think we are??? Before that it was Duh, Valley Girls. When I was in Dublin, Ireland I was having trouble understanding the waiter's accent. He paused, and said "where are you from?" I told him "California in US" He began his next sentence with a head toss and "so, anyway...." You may be too young to understand why that's funny but I bet older folks you know will get it.

The changes in southern Ca make it unappealing to me to ever live there again but it does have it's own charm and personality, for sure, and it is always changing. Shopping is awesome and you do have every service you could desire and anything is just a quick hop on the freeway away.

Of course, if you want a unique heartbeat to a US city, visit New Orleans. It's a lot like San Francisco. They both still show their history where L.A. has kind of lost it. And the food in both cities! Yum.

BTW, where I live in the Gold Country it oozes charm and history but it is changing too. That's life. Like a skateboard, you ride it or you biff. Thanks for speaking up for our home state :)

Cosplay Help for Children of the Forest?

nail art roses tutorial

nail art roses tutorial image

Lucidum Ig

I plan to cosplay Leaf from A Dance with Dragons written by George R. R. Martin, but I'm not entirely sure how to do it. A description is provided, but there isn't much to go on. The description is as follows (taken from awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Leaf):

She is one of the children of the forest. She has nut-brown skin that is dappled like a deer's with paler spots, and large ears. She wears a cloak of leaves. She has large liquid gold and green eyes which are slitted like a cat's eyes (that is, with vertical rather than round pupils). Her hair is a tangle of brown, red and gold, autumn colours, with vines and twigs and withered flowers woven through it. Bran thinks that from far away Leaf looks no older than himself or one of his sisters, but close at hand she seems far older.[1]

I need gold, cat-like contacts speckled with green, a copper wig with strands of brown and gold, twigs and leaves to weave through my wig, black, sharp nails, a faun make up tutorial, and a leaf cloak.

For the contacts, I found these: http://www.honeycolor.com/yellow-cat-eyes.html though they do not contain green. I do not know if I should look harder for gold and green.

I found several wigs from arda-wigs.com, although they are just one color. I can sew in strands from other wigs, if neccessary. The wigs I have considered are:

arda-wigs.com/collections/candy-striper/products/rose-blend
arda-wigs.com/collections/dark-copper-red-015/products/glinda (in pumpkin)
arda-wigs.com/collections/maroon-018/products/claudia (in pumpkin)
arda-wigs.com/collections/maroon-018/products/ferrari (in pumpkin)
arda-wigs.com/collections/salmon-203/products/luthien (color shown, not sure)

I'm very flexible on the wig colors since I'm going to be sewing in strands anyhow.

For the claws I figured I could file these down: www.amazon.com/Deluxe-Black-Fingernail-Size-One-Size/dp/B000R4Q37I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1373419852&sr=8-2&keywords=black+nails

I couldn't find a faun make up tutorial although tumblr seems obsessed with them.

I can't figure out how to do the cloak. I figured I'd use a green cloak, then cover it with real leaves (or faux leaves that look real enough). I'm not particularly sure how to do this though.

I intend to use a flower crown for the twigs, leaves, and flowers.

The references I'm using, by the way, are:

www.flickr.com/photos/not12/6109743559/
iron-hearted.deviantart.com/art/Leaf-ASOIAF-361547118

None of my choices are final so feel free to make changes.

Josie W

When it comes to removing nail art from my fingers, I just put acetone into a little paper cup, but my toes are harder. I don't dare try to stick toes into a cup or I might knock it over onto the floor!

The art stuff(rhinestones, decals) is really hard to remove and it took me over an hour the last time to take it off my toenails. How do you remove yours?

Answer
Just soak a cottonball in nail polish remover and hold it to your toenails for a minimum of 5 minutes.
for it to actually stay on without you holding it, use aluminum foil.

what are some good nail art nail polishes?

okay so i bought mt little sister a Salon Express nail art kit. Have you guys tried "Fashionista Nails"? Those are like waterslide decals you can put over a basecoat. I picked up some designs on Etsy (just type fashionista nails in search) and love how well those work. The lady there sells the graphics so all you need is decal paper and you can print it out over and over.

How do i clean my bjorndal boots?

I have a pair of bjorndal boots that are great knock offs for uggs, but they've gotten some mud dried on them and a splash of nail polish here and there. Any tips on how to clean them?

Answer
Im gonna help you out and really educate you on the UGG boot. Ug Ugh Ugly and Ugg are all generic words that discribe a type and style pf footwear made from sheepskin mainly in tthe country of Australia. Under International Law it is illegal to either trademark(R) or copyright (C) and generic word that discribes a product sold to consumers. So how did UGG australia get that coveted (R) on there boots every girl in America looks for to prove they have the only "real" genuine UGG boots? Let's be nice and just say they were not too honest in trademark(R) court when the judge asked them what the word UGG meant. To learn the entire story google UGG WARS. One other thing the company UGG australia (also has a parent company) tried to stop UGG boot makers in the country of Australia from using the name UGG on there boots which they have been using for over 100 years.UGG australia even tried to close down an Australian UGG boot maker that was nice enough to hire handicapped workers. How nasty is UGG australia that ghey tried to put handicapped people out of a job? With that said there really are alot of "real" UGG boots out there available to everyone. People just need to realiaze that they have been decieved and mislead into believing that UGG australia is the only "real" UGG boot when in fact it is not!!! Here are some awesome "real" UGG boots: EMU australia at emuaustralia.com . Whooga at whooga.com . Koolaberra at koolaberra.com . Minnetonka at DSW and dsw.com (use coupons and you get even a better deal) Bear Pawz at Famous Footwear . Also to learn more about UGG boots visit shoes-boots.net and sheepskindirect.com as they will show you alot of footwear and tell you all about UGG footwear too. You will even learn how to clean your boots too.

Let tthe mud dry completely. Take a stiff suede brush and gently brush off the dirt. As far as the nail polish goes try asking on one of the two sites above. BTW you have really nice UGG boots.

Do most seventh graders wear makeup?

Owl

And shave their legs?
Makeup meaning, not a full face, but some. Younger or older is welcome too. What do you wear?

Thank you.
I'm actually the child. My parents will not let me wear makeup or shave. I think that is unfair.

Answer
I'm in grade 8, and I don't wear any makeup. I only wear cover up whenever I have a bad pimple, and I wear clear mascara sometimes. Very occasionally, I'll wear black mascara. I have super super long eyelashes. The problem is that they're light blonde/white. So it is hard to see them. So sometimes I will add black mascara for no reason, really. I also have horrible allergic reactions to any foundation, eyeshadow, bronzer, blush, and the worst is eyeliner. I get this gross red bumpy rash and it burns and it feels like a billion red fire ants are biting you. That's why I don't wear much makeup. My cover up and anything else I wear has to be a special formula.... it sucks.

I think for a 7th grader.... this look would be appropriate:

â¢Maybe a bit of powder. Don't use liquid foundation and look like a cake face when you're only like 12.

â¢Neutral eyeshadows; the key word is neutral. I would go for a soft, light LIGHT pink, or a sandy tan colour. Stick to neutral colours.

â¢Eyelashes: stick to brown or clear mascara. You can wear black if you want, but clear looks very natural. Brown is obviously darker than clear, but looks more natural than black does. Or, curl your lashes with no mascara. I've heard it's really bad for your eyelashes to curl them though.

â¢Don't wear lipstick at this age. Chapstick or not too bright lip gloss is perfect for your age.

â¢Eyeliner- NO. All the girls that wore eyeliner in 7th grade looked like fakes. The eyeliner was thick and made their eyes look like the size of a long pinkie nail. Eyeliner closes off your eyes and makes them look puny. Although, it may look natural on some people. My friend wears a hint.... a HINT.... of brown eyeliner but you could barely tell because of her thick, long eyelashes. It looks very very natural and I always have to ask if she even has any on! You can wear some, just don't push it. No black, liquid either. It doesn't look so nice on girls your age.

Maybe something like this????
http://corallista.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Soft-Pink-brown-office-wear-eye-makeup-tutorial14.jpg

I like this because the eyeshadow is a perfect tone and not to harsh or in your face. The mascara looks very natural, although clumpy. The eyeliner is a nice soft brown tone that isn't harsh and very natural. It gives your eyes a little pop. This is cute for a 7th grader.

http://media.onsugar.com/files/ons/211/2115360/42_2008/__16_Brown_5_minute_face_final.jpg

This is also appropriate, but I would cut back a bit on the copper and black eyeliner. The soft, brown eyeshadow with a hint of shimmer is great for 7th grade.

As for shaving.

I don't shave my legs. I know. People are like OOOMMMGMGMGMGMG TTHHAAT ISS LIKE SO TOTALLY DISGUSSTINGGG OMGGGG. The reason is, I don't need to. I have super duper short fine, light blonde leg hair. It practically blends into my skin. You can't even see it unless you go up close or creepishly rub my leg or something. You can see it if the sun casts a shadow on it though. I do shave my underarms though because even though (once again) it's blonde, the hairs are long and thick.... and it's gross. I live in AZ so it gets up to 125 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer. That's 51.6 degrees in Celsius. We get sweaty, so shaving under your arms is a good thing. Anyways, I'm not that experienced and I don't really know much about the art of shaving. I'll try my best though.

Shaving at your age is perfectly normal. It's like a confidence thing; if you have hairy legs, girls will pick on you and you'll feel weird in a world where most girls shave, right? I don't feel that way, but lots do. I will tell you now that shaving is a pain in the butt. I know from underarm hair and other people's leg hair. (Creepy I know hahahaha) It grows back prickly and sometimes black, like a cactus. I know what a cactus feels like, living in AZ. You have to shave like every day, or else it grows back yucky. Razors will also cut you and they hurt. Bad. You kinda have to get used to them. Also, if you have long legs, it is a pain. I'm 5'9" , so I have very long legs. Shaving them would be a pain. It is your choice if you want to shave, but that's not something I really care about nor am I interested in. It's up to you but it can be nice to have smooth shiny legs. :)

Overall, I don't have much experience in this category of makeup and shaving, but I do know a bit from my peers.... and common sense. ;) Good luck, have fun being in 7th grade; it doesn't last very long. ;)

Hope this helps. :)

Gabriella

I have 230 bottles of nail polish and I use all of it. Should I bring it with me? Also where can I store it?

Answer
That would be foolish. If you're like my daughter, you are addicted to nail polish and even though you have that many, you can't help yourself from buying more. You should just take a few favorites knowing fully well your collection will continue to grow. You should really take some time to sort through the old stuff and throw some out. Nail polish doesn't have a long shelf life. Also, there isn't a whole lot of space if you're in a dorm.

Where to find good cheap cream colored nail polish?

Samantha

Sooo I'm pretty much addicted to Essie nail polish. It's just so dang expensive. I'm looking for a baby blue cream color or like Any cream colored nail polish's. I like cream yellows. I ecspecially like Vernice by Essie. Cream colors like that are my fave. I'd just really like a cream aquamarine and cream yellow. Any ideas? Or if you know of Essie ones that I can get online or anything let me know! Thanks everyone!!

Answer
Sally Hansen is a pretty good option for cheaper prices and still fairly good quality, I also buy Sinful Colors because they have a good selection for super cheap. I buy most of those from Walgreens/CVS but you can probably find them at any store.

Good luck.

i think since i am a 14 year old, i am really into having a dance party for option 1. I would have a dj there, and get a tent or 2 depending on how many people are coming like the one below:

FOR OPTION 2:
Set up your house as a spa. Make sure your house is cleaned up in EVERY single room. First, buy, all the supplies needed at a spa:
1. cotton balls

3. cotton swabs
4.foot spa ( link below for cheap good spa)

5. Nail polish and manicure kit/pedicuer kit kit http://www.walmart.com/ip/Nailene-Artist-Expressions-Cool-Nail-Polish-Kit/20648038
I would also get makeup kits with a ton of varieties of eyeshadow, mascara, lipgloss, blush and eyeliner. I would then get a few curlers and straighteners.
In the living room, I would set up a table or two and set up the nail polish that you have. Make sure that the colors are cool and cute. then set cotton balls, nail polish remover, cotton swabs and nail fillers. In the bathroom, set up the spa station. Make sure you set this up in the biggest bathroom you have. Then infront of the toilet, put the spa machine. On the counter, put the face mask stuff there and lotion. In another bedroom, set up a table with, hair spray, curlers, straighteners, bobby pins, and hair accesories. In the dining room, or wherever you eat dinner, set up a fancy resturaunt by placing glass plates on every spot for each person attending the party. Then add a glass cup, and a napkin in the cup. Then set the utensils next to the plates. Then add a really nice bouquet of flowers in the midle of the table and serve a variety of meals. Then in another room, with a mirror, set up a clothing rack. Make sure the people coming brings there own clothing that is fancy and they can get all dressed up in that room. Then after they are done with getting dressed, in the same room, they can get makeovers done by some volunteered older sisters, and adult females.
Then after they are all done through all the stations, they can go have a fashion show in a room with a lot of room. Then take tons of pictures and post them on twitter, facebook, instagram etc. Then serve them dinner, then cake and ice cream. After that, they can enjoy a movie marathon of there choice. Before going to sleep if they do go to sleep, make sure they wash there face off so the makeup is all gone off there face.

Birthday party ideas for 14 year old girl?

Mackenzie

I am inviting 7 other girls that are on my volleyball team (but we are still girly)

Answer
i think since i am a 14 year old, i am really into having a dance party for option 1. I would have a dj there, and get a tent or 2 depending on how many people are coming like the one below:
http://www.google.com/search?site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1760&bih=840&q=party+tent&oq=party+tent&gs_l=img.3..0l10.1798.3024.0.3191.10.9.0.1.1.0.84.637.9.9.0...0.0...1ac.1.9.img.SBGxGCQ-s9g#imgrc=5kCYpY2bl_dliM%3A%3Boag7KxBC_tB1EM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.jumpandparty.net%252Fimages%252Ftent.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.jumpandparty.net%252FTentsTablesChairs.html%3B1020%3B700

What stores sell China Glaze nail polish?

I want to get the new Hunger Games nail polish and I went to Walmart to get it and they didn't ever sell it there. I looked for it but I couldn't even find the China Glaze brand nail polish. So what stores sell it?

Answer
You will not find China Glaze at a drugstore. Sally's always sells China Glaze, and for a limited time, the new collections. Depending on which one you're near they may not get a new collection in for weeks after the actual release. Ulta also sells China Glaze, but they do not carry as extensive of a collection compared to Sally's. Sephora does not sell China Glaze. Your best bet would be Sally's.
Depending on your location, you can also purchase the new Hunger Games collection online from certain e-tailers. such as..
http://head2toebeauty.com/
http://8ty8beauty.com/
http://www.victoriasnailsupply.com/
Also, Hot Topic does not usually sell China Glaze, but my friend works there and she told me that they recently got the Hunger Games collection in.

What are the best brands and colors of nail polish to use for water marbling?

Sara

I've tried water marbling a few times and have never been successful. The nail polishes I've tried are Sally Hanson Xtreme Wear, N.Y.C, and a few different Avon Colors. I use Sally Hanson Diamond Strength Base Coat, and Revlon No-Chip Top Coat. Every time I go to design the pattern in the water, the polish sticks to the Tooth Pick, and then I have to start, and I'm wasting SO MUCH nail polish! Any tips? Thanks!

Answer
Oooh I've done this. In fact, I am about to do some marble art now for college tomorrow lol. I'm really not usually into nail art and can never normally do stuff like this successfully, but for some reason, marble art has come easy to me. . . I'm braggin, I know, but this is a huge achievement for me =P

Believe it or not but I use really cheap nail varnish and it works. I use George (Asda's brand or Walmart if you're in America) nail polish and it works a treat. I also use Rimmel.

Your problem may not actually be with your nail polish though. It may be that your taking too long to do the swirls. When I do it, the polish usually hardens almost straight away. The trick is to be quick and not let it set. And when you swirl it, don;t start right from the outer colour. Kinda start in the middle out. If that makes sense. Also, I use a straightened hair grip to swirl mine.

Hope this helps and all the best!

How do you get dye out of costume vinyl?

nail polish exchange

laurajc88

I bought a costume online. There is black dye on the white vinyl. I have a party tomorrow, so no time for returns or exchanges. I have tried soap and water, nail polish remover, magic eraser. Now I have attempted to cover with white shoe polish. Still bleeds right through. Any suggestions?

Answer
If even the Magic Eraser failed to remove the black dye, I doubt anything will.

If you happen to have some white house paint on hand, you can paint over the black dye with that. House paint is thicker than shoe polish and painting over the black dye might work. However, it's possible the dye will bleed through the paint. Also, you'd want to use paint in a matte finish. If you use glossy paint, you'll get shiny spots where you painted.

I don't think you have a lot of options. If the black dye was not mentioned in the advertisement, you might want to return the costume for a refund.

Good luck.

Trixies Ma

When I get bored, I peel off my nail polish. Can this damage my finger nails?

Answer
No... Actually nail polish can damage your nails. It is very important to give yourself a manicure every time you switch nail color. If you dont have time for a manicure, at least use a buffer.

But all in all I love painting my nails... it's my me time away from my family.

How do I get my nails back to normal?

Answer
So what you want to do is use a good amount of coats. Just enough for the color to be bold. I usually use 2 to 3. And use it a little bit thick on your last coat so you don't get streaks from the brush. Once they're dry it's very important to use a clear top coat for them to look shiny and last longer. A top coat is what gives it a finish and shine.
P.S always remember to use a base coat to protect your natural nails from getting yellow!
Good luck! Hope this helps!

Carefully try a small area with semi-paste paint remover. Then try a spot with finger nail polish remover. Then try a spot with lacquer thinner. Go with the one showing the best results.

What are the current fashion trends, especially in accessories?

Tiffany

Growing up I wasn't allowed to adopt the trends of the time for various reasons (religious beliefs, mostly, as my parents were under the impression that I was a boy and crossing the gender line was forbidden) and I missed out on some cute ones. Scrunchies, babydoll dresses, denim skirts were big in my neck of the woods for a while, hot loops, the list goes on.

Now that I'm on my own I'm a bit of a fashion bug. However, adopting the fashions I missed out on would make me stick out (more than I already do) since the ones I liked at the time were primarily teenager things or they're so far out of favor now that you can't even get them anymore (I haven't seen scrunchies in stores in years) but I don't really see any discernible trends these days.

The 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s all had apparent trends. You can recognize the era a photograph was taken in because of the style of dress and the accessories they were sporting. But today it seems to be all jeans and t shirts, which I tend to wear a lot but I'm looking for something distinctly feminine, and sun dresses, which seem to have been common since at least the 1940s.

I don't see much in the way of accessories, either. Scrunchies, butterfly clips, hot loops, those were seen all over the place in the 90s. Today the only thing I see is girls dying their hair unnatural colors, which isn't really an option for an adult (especially since I have to rely on a wig that can't be dyed), and sparkly nail polish.

I don't want to sit out any more cute trends and fads but I'm not really seeing any today. Seems everyone's going plain or dressing androgynous. Is there something I'm just not noticing?

Answer
One of the beautiful things about fashion is that it's a way to express yourself and who you are. While you should try and keep up with the trends, (you don't want to look outdated) put your own spin on things and try to be unique. Some specific Spring/Summer 2013 trends are:
-Monochrome: a minimalist trend featured in Gucci, Marc Jacobs and Roland Mouret.
-GM Flowers: "chemically enhanced flowers" like plastic roses at Holly Fulton, pop art daisies at Prada, and gemstone gerberas at Moschino.
-Aqua Fresh: one colour in many different shades, from cobalt at Etro to cornflower at Chalayan and aquamarine at Zac Posen.
-Clever Prints: Let your clothes do the talking-foreign postage stamps at Mary Katrantzou, Sicilian folklore at Dolce & Gabbana and colourful exaggerated leopard print at Kenzo
-Swinging Fringing: It's all about the shimmy detailing, from glitzy metallic fringing at Versace to leather at Rodarte, silk at Nina Ricci and raffia at Donna Karan.
-Gruffles Flamenco Forte: All sultry curves at Balenciaga, Gucci and Marni.
-Geometry: It's time to go back to geometry class. Thankfully fashion is much more exciting with jumbo checks at Marc Jacobs and super even stripes at Moschino.
-Geisha Delisha: Prada, Hermes, Etro and Emporio Armani all looked Eastwards for inspiration.
-Sixties Super Graphic: Bold primary colours and pop-art prints spliced together
^^occasionally those times will come back with a more modern twist to them
Hope I helped!

Is it bad to wear black nail polish to an interview?

nail polish unprofessional

nail polish unprofessional image

Kelso.

The business I work at now, requires us to have nice looking nails that go by the store colors. which are black and pink. So they are black and pink. I have a job interview tomorrow at another business and I was wondering if it looks unprofessional to have black nails.

Answer
If you're going in for an interview, it's usually best to avoid any bold nail colors...such as black.

What is a Professional Nail Polish Color for my Job Interview?

Amanda

Specifically I'll be wearing either a navy blue shirt or a gold shirt.
What would go best with each of these? I don't want to look bad on my interview.
I know this is such a miniscule thing and thanks for any /all answers.

Answer
I would say either leave them unpolished or go for a nude/peach very subtle shade. Dark colours scream unprofessional.

For the times you just need to wear nail polish.... I have a lot of family functions coming up that I will need to dress up for. I'd like to get some light nude colors, a clear coat, and maybe a nice deep red/gold. Thanks!

Answer
But if you're looking for a nail polish that doesn't offer a bottle full of harsh chemicals, here's a few companies to check out:

By Nubar Non Toxic Polish: This company has a very good policy against the use of some of these toxic ingredients. The polish dries quick and the colors are amazing.

Honeybee Gardens: I've heard that these products take a while to dry, but are probably as natural as you can buy. Certainly not the product you'd use if you're in a hurry, but if it's a leisurely Saturday and you're hanging in the back yard, check 'em out.

Acquarella: This company offers nail polish free of chemical solvents of any kind and is water based. They showcase some amazing colors, but again, not sure how many coats are needed to get them so beautiful.

If you've heard of or used polishes that don't use a large amount of chemicals, feel free to post a comment and share with the readers. I've used By Nubar and am really impressed with them and will be looking into the Acquarella. Not so much, Honeybee, only because I don't have that much free time to wait for it to dry. So maybe there's my trade off

Any recommendation for a pale gold nail polish?

Anhy

I'm in the market looking for a light gold nail polish color. A lot of the gold polishes are rather dark and they don't look good on my skin tone. Any recommendation?

Answer
you didn't mention if you wanted solid or glitter;

anyway, here's some that i like:
OPI Keep Me On My Mistletoe (glitter)
OPI Wild About Shimmer (glitter)
OPI Queen of Everything (kind of glittery)
NARS Versailles (glitter)
Dior Camel (matte, but more nude than gold)
