Would using using clear nail polish to fix scratches on PS 2 games work?

Tim

That idea came to me the other day, just wondering if anyone has tried it? I have about 10 games that are scratched that won't play at all.

Answer
Absolutely not. A scratch on the clear side of the disc causes errors because the laser beam is no longer able to travel in a straight line through the clear plastic, bounce off the reflective layer, and back out. The nail polish isn't optically clear and would bend the laser in a way that would make the data unreadable. A scratch on the label side of the disc causes errors because it damages the reflective aluminum layer that bounces the laser beam back out. Clear polish can't replace that aluminum and might damage the disc more.

is there a way to get nail polish remover off a video game disk?

J

i need help getting this nail polish remover smuge off my video game disk plz help
also i tried every trick in the book
but the nail polish remover is the problem it messed it up in the first place am i suppose to use it again?

Answer
Try using nail polish remover. I would test it on a blank DVD disk first just to make sure that it doesn't melt the plastic. I know chloroform will melt plastic.

MASH nail art stamping help?

Drew Smith

I have recently received this set of MASH nail art stamping kit, and I must say i am EXTREMELY disappointed. So far, I have gotten horrible results with the scraper and the transferer. the scraper does not remove the excess and when i try to see if the transferer will work, it just smears it everywhere... Should I use a different kind of nail polish?

Answer
Some plates have a protective film over it. So make sure to take that off if there is!! If the transferer doesn't work then I heard somewhere you can file it very little and try that :) And thicker polish is actually better for stamping!

Nail Polish Stain On Fingernails?

Abbie `x

I put nail polish on about 2 weeks ago, and now I have a yellow stain on 2 of my fingers because I didn't put base coat on. I've tried nail polish remover but it won't come off...

What can I do to get it off?

abbiee x

Answer
apparently "Sometimes nail polish, dirt and bacteria can stain the nails. This can be removed by using a Q-tip or an orangewood stick with a cotton tip. Soak the cotton in 10 parts water mixed with 1 part bleach, then rub the nail where the stain is. This will remove most stains from the nails. Scrub under the nails with a nail brush or toothbrush with soap or bleach solution to remove stains under the nails."
hope i helped

4-Once dry fill in one side with whatever colour you like colors like red and blue go well.

Q. i need to take off my nail polish cause it looks bad now and i don't have nail polish removeer and i can't go get one now cause my mom isn't home and i need it off today before 6pm to go to a party ..... so can someone tell me how to take off nail polish with out nail polish remover ?? no stupid answers please !!! and Thanks to everyone in advance for answering :)

Answer
Put a new coat of nail polish on top of your nail then wash your hands while they aren't dry yet and rub the nail polish off. Sorry, if this doesn't work.

i think the best thing to do would to buy some nail polish remover real fast and fix your nails before the party.

nail polish?

troubles

I have an 11 month old daughter and she is going to be 1 in april and i wanted to get her all dressed up and pretty for her big 1 year old party now my question is is it safe to polish her finger and toe nails.

Answer
Sure, it's fine for one special day. Use a kids polish in a light color that is non-toxic, as she probably still puts her fingers in her mouth quite a bit. When you remove the polish, use non-acetone remover and rinse with Johnson's babywash and water. Congrats on your first year of motherhood!

eating dried nail polish?

Q. okay, so im 11 and i am literally addicted to eating dried nail polish. i basically just get the nails polish brush and dunk it in the nail polish, then wipe the nail polish around the bottle and wait until it has dried .. and eat it. i do it all the time and i know for a fact that its really bad for me .. my mum or anyone in my family don't know it do it. Can this kill me? How bad is it for me? Can it kill me? No stupid answers plz :)xx

Answer
Nail polish is toxic if swallowed. It can contain chemicals like formaldehyde which is a carcinogen (causes cancer), Toluene - a toxin that affects your nervous system causing tiredness, memory loss, liver damage, skin irritation, kidney damage and Dibutyl Phthalate which can cause fertility problems and damage hormone functions and has also been linked to cancer. It is VERY bad for you and depending on the chemical compounds in the nail polish could indeed be fatal if you continue. Pls talk to someone, I would actually see a nutritionist as there may be something in the polish your body is craving, magnesium?, that you may be able to help with a supplement. But until you can stop yourself..dont wear nail polish or keep it in your room.

Attention All Nail Polish Addicts.:)?

Q. How many shades of the same color should someone own in a basic nail polish collection? This includes pastels and neons.:) When I mean shades of the same color an example would be red-orange its a different shade of red. And please don't tell me "oh its my choice" I already know its my choice...but I'd like some feedback please.:)
Reds
Oranges
Yellows
Greens
Blues
Purples
Browns
Pinks

Answer
my sister and I both buy any color we like. Majority of the time they are different shades of the same color but there are certain colors that go best with seasons so its not like i dont use them. I think as many as you can honestly. I have a dark green that looks best in winter and a brighter green for summer. You cant just expect all colors to be the same especially with nail polish.

Someplace Fun to go in Northern New England (NH, Massachusetts, Vermont)?

So my daughter and I are taking a mother-daughter trip in the spring and she's a 15 years old and picky she told me all it has to be is fun. So were looking for fun things to do in either NH Massachusetts or vermont please help!!!

Answer
Boston's a lot of fun. Yes, there's a lot of history with it, but still there's tons to do that doesn't have any historical content. You could take a harbor cruise, walk down Newbury Street (the equivalent to 5th Ave in NYC and Michigan Ave in Chicago) and there are tons of high-end designer boutiques that my friends and I love to poke into....there's also a ton of hair and nail salons that are fun places to waste a few hours, the Boston Commons (also called the Boston Public Gardens) are beautiful, Fanuiel Hall has great shopping that's actually affordable compared to Newbury Street, you can go to tea at the Ritz, there's amazing restaurants in the North End, the houses are fun to look at in Back Bay and Beacon Hill, there are tons of Islands in the harbor that are great for day trips, Boston Ballet is one of the best ballet companies in America, there's tons of theatre and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Charles River Esplanade and the Christopher Colombus Waterfront Park are gorgeous, Chinatown's fun but parts of it are kind of creepy, Downtown Crossing has good and regularly priced shopping too, going to a Red Sox game is tons of fun even for people who don't really like baseball...great atmosphere and fun peoplewatching, walking the Freedom Trail may involve history but it's a great walk even if you're not going for history, Harvard and MIT are fun campuses to visit, the John Handcock Tower is a really cool building even though you can't go to the top anymore because of 9/11, the Museum of Fine Arts, the New England Aquarium and the Museum of Science are really cool places for go for an hour or two, even if you hate places like that, Prudential Center's a cool mall though it's a little bit more high end, the Cambridgeside Galleria is also a good mall but it wouldn't be my first pick if you were to go to one. The Natick Collection, which is 15 minutes outside of Boston is one of my favorite places to shop since they redid it and added tons and tons of high-end designers like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Neiman Marcus, etc. and it's tons of fun to get lost in and spend hours trying on couture that's completely impractical for daily life. As long as you look like you have a purpose and aren't being obnoxious the sales people could care less. Chances are though, if your her mother, they really won't think anything of it if you go. Salem Witch museum in Salem Massachusetts can be a lot of fun for a day trip and the Boston Waterfront is a great place to eat an Italian Pastry bought in the North End.

Or if you wanted to go to New Hampshire you could go to the White Mountains, but that's a lot of hiking, kayaking/canoeing and biking and more outdoorsy stuff, even though there are a couple of gorgeous drives.

You could go to Burlington, Vermont, but the majority of the attractions are outside of Burlignton. There's the Ben and Jerry's factory, salt mines, a lot of hiking and biking and things like in the White Mountains, except these are called the Green Mountains.

Portland, Maine is a really cool city too. Back Cove is really pretty, there's Congress Street, Ferry Beach State Park, Higgins Beach, Kettle Cove, Old Orchard Beach is outside of it, Old Port, there are a bunch of islands off the coast that are easily accesible by ferry, lot's of boat tours and lighthouses, nice mansions, Kennebunkport and lot's of great shopping outlets.

Also, Newport, Rhode Island is a great option as well. The cliffwalk has these mansions right along this cliff overlooking the water that are utterly breathtaking, and the town is one of those cutsey beach-like New England towns.

Get her input on where she wants to go and let her help plan what you guys do. That way she has to like it, and she'll have fun.

Good luck!

Is it safe to use nail polish and hair dye during pregnancy?

confused m

Today my husband asked me if nail polish is safe for me to use during my pregnancy because of the fumes. I remember hearing that hair dye isn't safe either during pregnancy but I dont' remember if it was from a reliable source or not. I've tried looking it up on the internet but can't find a clear answer.

Answer
It's fine to color your hair when you are pregnant. The only problem is that your hormones have changed, which changes your hair, which can make your color not what it was supposed to be.

Some people say that the chemicals can be absorbed into your skin and can harm the baby, but no studies have been done on it, which is why some doctors will say to stay away from it for the first trimester. If you normally color your hair, and it makes you feel better about yourself, then do it and don't worry about it.

Fingernail polish and remover are fine. Just use them in a well ventilated area. You don't want to breath the fumes and pass out. But the chemicals won't hurt your baby.

Trust me, not only as a medical professional, but also as a cosmotologist. I have colored many peoples hair when they are pregnant, and when I was pregnant, and had mine done when I was pregnant and both my babies are fine.

If you are worried about it, talk to your doctor.

Pregnancy and nail polish?

Q. A friend told me not to use nail polish while pregnant because of the chemicals. If I don't keep my nails polished they chip and break easily. It's bad enough the thought of being bloated and tired all the time...now I have to have nasty nails too??!! I'm asking the pregnant women here... do you polish your nails??

Answer
yes i polished my nails all the time the doc said there was no problem as long as i couldnt smell it real strong i was safe
if you can smell it strong just go outside or open a couple windows

also prenatal vitamins will help alot with your nails by making them stronger shinier and grow faster (same with hair)

80s halloween costume?

hello

so im going as pat benatar for halloween. i got a good leather snakeskin skirt, but what should i do for the top and accessories? pictures would be helpful :)

Answer
Pat Benetar, great idea, I love her (just bought a greatest hits cd from her - it's excellent!). I love the start, a leather skirt would be great. I like leather skirts, I wore one for Halloween myself once (but I'm a guy - hehe) - it was fun :-) (but I won't admit that to anyone I know). the whole outfit was cool to wear but I really liked the leather skirt. anyways ...
I think for this you need black high heel pumps or black boots with a heel (boots were very 80's right?). A black kind of loose fitting sweater top and a big wide black leather belt ... really wide. A skimpy black spaghetti string top would work too (think Crimes of Passion cover). Thick black lashes and black eyeliner, some rouge, and red lipstick and nail polish should go well.

80s girl for halloween? What to wear?

XoXSweetie

Ok so im 13 years old. And im going to be a girl from the 80s. I was planning to wear bright blue eyeshadown, mascara, eyeliner, bright pink lipstick, curly hair to the side with scrunchie, pink skinny jeans, converse, over the shoulder shirt, bright tank top, lots of bracelets, and hoop earings.
My mom went to the store with out me and bought blue eyeshadow, bright pink nail polish, bright pink leggings, earings, and a plaid skirt.
So do you think I should just wear what she bought or is that not like the 80s? And what do you think about the skirt? Because personally I dont like it.
Thanks so far for your answers but what should i do about the crap my mom bought? Should i keep or go with what i wanted originally?

Answer
I am being an 80s person too! What i did was got leggings, hoop earrings, a big pink zebra shirt and leg warmers. It looks really cute. You should keep what you got but add leg warmers! They look really cute! Good luck! (:

I know i Love it too : and please help with my question ?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20101224155533AAORQGw

Who gives the names to the different OPI nail polishes?

MaryAlison

I've always wondered about this! I began to think this one day when my mom got a color called "Who comes up with these names?", and ever scince then, I've wondered!

Answer
The marketing board who runs OPI is a group of people. They place a new color in the center of the table and shout out names (all while drinking wine) and having a great time. Who ever comes up with the most creative name, sticks!

I think i watched it on one of those shows like Unwraped or something. But I've been a Nail Tech. for two years. Its a job i would love to have.

ok......im young. really. and i babysit my 5 little crazy cousins for about 3 days a week straight in the summer. im not old enough to drive. so i need ideas on some things to do with them. desperatly. for anyone whos maybe done this before could help. ive already tried lemonade stands (by the way didnt go so well because they live like on a really busy street) , crafts, baking, and about a million supermans. (thats where u lay on the floor and lift them up by ur legs)sooo........thats pretty much it. please answer

Answer
5 cousins? That is a lot of kids for anyone to handle..

Have them do a fashion show (using mom and das clothes, ask permission first).

Dance contests,

coloring, art

words games, board games...

let them make up their own things to do

movies

chalk

READING!!!!!

playing school

bike riding (be safe)

walks

duck duck goose or other outdoor type games (eg tag, hide and seek, search online for outdsoor games, my generation did this all day when I was a kid)

tv (limit this to no cartoons or no things to grown up)

music, use household items to create a pretend band and make up a song they all know.

play fire drill

role play handling tough situations (eg a bully at school or a strangers asks for help finding a puppy)

girls - fixing their hair, make up, nails, etc

boys- teaching them to build something

make out a schedule..
9am - tv
9:30 snack
9:45 art
10:15 - outside
12pm lunch
12:30 - daily activity (dance, fashion show, band boy time, girl time) etc
1:30 - reading - you to them or them to you, the older to the younger, teaching them new words, etc
2:00pm - outside (bike riding, walk, etc)
2:30 snack
3:00pm - movie (this is your time to relax with them)

this should take you until the parents come home..

Make sure you have sunscreen, emergency numbers on hand, safety rules... and a positive attitude... they will leanr from you over summer..

Kids are a challenge, but you are being very smart.. the busier they are, the less trouble they will be in.. you sound like a loving cousin and very capable sitter and they are lucky to have you.

How can i decorate my room without spending money?

miss lyss

OK well im 14 i have a kinda small room and almost no money to use but i want to have a kool room so any suggestions??

Answer
If you can sew you can be very creative. Get your mom to help. You can take your favorite sheet sets and cut them straight down the middle. Sew the edges down and fold the top down, leaving an opening wide enough for a rod, and stitch it across and place a curtain rod through and you have curtains that match your favorite bedding.

Paint your walls your favorite color. If you have silk scarves (for a girl) drape one over your lamp shade for a dramatic effect. Get a small cork board and mount it on your wall with nails or screws, and then post your favorite cards, and pictures, and daily reminders. You can paint the inside of your bedroom door or closet door with black board paint, and use it to create different thoughts for the day, titles of your favorite songs, or messages to your mom or siblings in brightly colored chalks. If you make it a mistake, you can always erase.

If you are a boy, go to a tire shop and ask them if they can give you about three old tires. Stack and glue them together with some liquid adhesive, and then place a round or square piece of wood or plywood on top. Paint it for an unusual nite stand.

Look around in your basement or garage for things that you can use in your space. Old wood items, or unused furniture, old magazaines, old album covers, or old dolls, or miniature cars, or action figures, area rugs, and incorporate them in your space.

If you do not have an area rug group 3 small rugs together with hook and loop velcro, and last but not least you could use duct tape to mesh the rugs together. Every household has duct tape.

Look for picture frames that are not being used, find some pictures in old magazines, or frame an album cover for wall art.

If you are a girl and have a lot of old costume jewlrey, mismatched earrings, ....etc. Get some thin jewlrey wire and twist together earrings and old beads from necklaces and make mobiles and hang them infront of your window. Make a mobile out of your miniatures, or action figures.

Be creative! Good luck.
