Any helpful advice from someone in the business of nails would be great! Is it profitable to do spa pedicures?

Answer
I did both and yes, spa pedicures are profitable. If you offer a high-quality experience you can charge $50 or $60 for them and people will wait in line to see you. The key is to keep your supply costs low. If you buy the expensive spa products you'll go broke.

Pedicures are easier on your body and will help prolong your career as a massage therapist.

Clients say they get pedicures primarily for the massage so you will have a huge advantage over the other nail techs. I called my pedicures "ultimate foot treatments" because they were all about the massage and hydrotherapy and less about the polish.

Here are some tips to provide a fantastic service while keeping your supply costs low:

1. Invest in a good, used spa foot bath. A ton of salons are closing right now and they're easy to find.

2. Invest in a towel warmer. I got one for $75 and it holds enough towels for 3 treatments.

3. Don't buy expensive spa products. Use natural, simple ingredients and mix up your own formulas like salt, baking soda and borax with a few drops of Eucalyptus oil in the foot bath. Clients love it when you customize the experience to their tastes. Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask is inexpensive and great for foot masks.

4. Give your client a nice drink to sip. I always mixed up a seltzer water with a splash of orange juice and strawberry syrup or something like that. It doesn't cost much and the clients think it's special.

5. Only use high quality nail polish and increase your income more by selling it to your clients. The cheap stuff chips off. OPI is still the best in my experience and you can buy it wholesale online and at beauty supply stores. It makes a difference!

Good luck!

Hey, I am a girl. I am wondering; What are some important things I should keep in my bathroom?
Here are some of my examples: Razors, Facewash, Cloths, Nail Polish, Shampoo, Glasses Cleaner, ect. What else would be really helpful would be Brand suggestions. Like, I use Pantene conditioner. I encourage ALL answers, even really obvious ones like a toothbrush and toothpaste. Thank you!
