Nail Polish with a difference.............?

Ann Marie

Nail Polish with a difference.....?
i want to know if there are more nail polishes with a difference. like for example i already have the magnetic nail polish, and the crackle nail polish,,,,, are there different nail polishes with special affect please?

thanks alotttt

Answer
Nails, Inc., Nubar, Glitter Gal, Nfu Oh, HITS and Milani have special effects glitters that are 3D holographic. The Milani is the easiest to find (CVS, drugstores) for $5.79 each and the Nails, Inc. special effects glitters can be found at Sephora for $9.50 each. Nubar, Nfu Oh, HITS and Glitter Gal are imports, you can find them online at shop.llarowe.com, Harlow & Co., Nubar.com, etc. but they're pricey. Between $8-$18 depending on the brand.

Another specialty that's becoming increasingly popular is flakies. They are awesome. Fingerpaints has 5 limited edition colors you can get at Sally's through the month of January but they're pretty hard to find now, limited editions usually are. Nubar has one called 2010 for $8 online, Nfu Oh has colors with the flakies built in and they're numbered (instead of color names) the flakies #'s are 49-60. They'll run you about $22 each on ebay and that's pretty much the only place you can find them. Sally Hansen has one called Hidden Treasure, but it's discontinued, you can pick one up on ebay for $20-30. Zoya has 3 flakies for their spring 2012 collection, Maisie (blue w/ flakies), Chloe (pink w/ flakies) & Opal (green w/ flakies) for $8 each on zoya.com. They're really meant to be layered, they're technically top coats and won't look good just on the nail alone. China Glaze is supposedly coming out with flakies - they just came out with a line of magnetic polishes but apparently they're hard to use and not worth it. HITS, Ludarana and Party Polish have flakies at shop.llarowe.com but they're expensive - $10-$16 a piece.

With all these companies jumping on the flakie bandwagon, I can tell it's going to be the next "it" thing in nails.

And duochromes/multichromes (which change colors in the light) are popular. Chanel has an incredibly popular green/gold one called Peridot available for $26 on chanel.com. Ozotic has a bunch of them for $17.50 each on shop.llarowe.com. Sally Hansen's HD collection has duochromes that are pretty - they're about $7.50 each at drugstores.

The strips/stickers are popular, too. Sally Hansen's salon effects nail polish strips are my favorite and they have all different designs and patterns. Some of them are really nice and some of them are tacky. They have the permanent collection, the solids collection and then they have holiday collections. The spring/easter one's are out now. The really cool designs tend to sell out really quickly. Around Halloween you couldn't find any of them. They retail for $8.50-$10.50 a box depending on where you get them and you get 16 strips in different sizes, a small file/buffer and a small wooden stick in every box. Sephora also makes them, and you can find some other brands at Sally's.

Also, the gel polish is huge right now. And 3D manicures using fimo clay slices and little plastic pieces. The marble look is in right now too, you take a cup of water, drip some polish in it, then drip in another color over the first and so on and so forth. Then you move the polish around in the cup with a wooden stick to get the marble effect and dip your nail in. You should go to etsy.com and type in nail art. Many people make acrylic nails with popular designs. That should give you an idea of what's popular.

Unique easy nail polish designs?

what does gel nail polish do?

Tusi

Basically, what is it? And what is it do for you nails.

Answer
Gel nail polish is applied very simularly to normal nail polish but it is cured under a uv light this makes it instantly dry and makes it much longer lasting (upto about 21 days on hands and until grown out on feet)
It can be removed with acetone or special removers.
It has become very popular in replacing normal nail polish when u have a manicure because it is so long lasting and you don't have to worry about smudging it.
There are quite a few different makes out the shellac being the most well known although this make can be quite drying on the nail, the best one for your nail is the Jessica geleration.
Hope that answers your question...

Should I use gel Nail Polish?

Natasha Ro

So I have really long and strong nails and always get compliments on them the main reason being is I never gotten things such as acrylic nails nor even let even one but myself do my nails. Recently however I've been getting tired of my nail polish chipping after day 3 and someone told me about gel nail polish. The only thing about this is you have to be a professional to apply this meaning I will have to let someone else do my nails for one(I'm shaky about that). Also I have heard horrid stories of people's nails becoming weak or brittle due to the removal process. Everyone who told me to use gel nail polish has short and rather weak nails so I don't know if I should take their word that it will do nothing to my long nails. So what is you take on this? Also what are the disadvantages of gel?

Answer
If gel nails are applied and removed properly, they shouldn't damage your nails. It's the removal process where people get in trouble since SOME gel nails (not all) may need to be filed to be removed, and there's a chance of filing into the natural nail if you (or your nail tech) isn't careful.

People often think their nails are thinner after they remove a fake nail (gel or acrylic), but it's mostly just because the nail is more hydrated after being covered so long and so it feels soft and thin. If you leave it alone for a few days, some of that extra moisture will come out and your nail should feel just as hard as before.

I would read website below before you get gel nails done so you can anticipate what you're going to have to do to remove them and make sure you ask the right questions to your nail tech.

Where can I find a spice rack similar to this one?

Q. I want a spice rack to store my nailpolish on like the one in the picture but all the spice racks I have looked for online are to big (like each shelf could hold two or three bottles of nail polish) and the one in the picture seems to be about the right size. It is also a little bit decorative. (I don't want something plain and boring) I don't care about the color, I'll just paint it myself.

nail art pen designs?

Answer
If you want to be different you could really get out there and draw simple Chinese characters on them. Be sure to look them up on the net or get a book from the library. You don't have to do all ten nails.
Here are two examples: 女 (woman) ç¾ (beauty). You can go on the net to find all kinds of Kanji (chinese letters). Just be careful, if you don't know what it means, don't use it!

What do sealents do for your teeth? What are veneers? How do they put them on your teeth?

MRose

I'm thinking about getting sealents because i just had my third cavity filled, and it makes me mad that im getting cavities, because i take really good care of my teeth.

so what are the benifits of sealents, but im not completely sure of what they are. whats the difference between them and veneers?

will sealents help prevent cavities? is it worth it to get them? how do they put them on? my dentist said something about drilling... but i could have been mistaken.

Answer
A dental sealant is a thin plastic film painted on the chewing surfaces of molars and premolars (the teeth directly in front of the molars). Sealants have been shown to be highly effective in the prevention of cavities. They were developed through dental research in the 1950s and first became available commercially in the early 1970s. The first sealant was accepted by the American Dental Association Council on Dental Therapeutics in 1972.

How effective are sealants?
Scientific studies have proven that properly applied sealants are 100 percent effective in protecting the tooth surfaces from caries. Because sealants act as a physical barrier to decay, protection is determined by the sealants' ability to adhere to the tooth. As long as the sealant remains intact, small food particles and bacteria that cause cavities cannot penetrate through or around a sealant. In fact, research has shown that sealants actually stop cavities when placed on top of a slightly decayed tooth by sealing off the supply of nutrients to the bacteria that causes a cavity. Sealant protection is reduced or lost when part or all of the bond between the tooth and sealant is broken. However, clinical studies have shown that teeth that have lost sealants are no more susceptible to tooth decay than teeth that were never sealed.

How are sealants applied?
Sealant application involves cleaning the surface of the tooth and rinsing the surface to remove all traces of the cleaning agent. An etching solution or gel is applied to the enamel surface of the tooth, including the pits and grooves. After 15 seconds, the solution is thoroughly rinsed away with water. After the site is dried, the sealant material is applied and allowed to harden by using a special curing light. Other sealants are applied and allowed to harden much the same way nail polish is applied to fingernails. Sealant treatment is painless and could take anywhere from five to 45 minutes to apply, depending on how many teeth need to be sealed. Sealants must be applied properly for good retention.

How long will a sealant last?
Sealants should last five years, but can last as long as 10 years. One study reported that seven years after application, an impressive 49 percent of treated teeth were still completely covered. Sealants should not be considered permanent. Regular dental check-ups are necessary to monitor the sealants' bond to the tooth.

Who should receive sealant treatment?
Children, because they have newly erupted, permanent teeth, receive the greatest benefit from sealants. The chewing surfaces of a child's teeth are most susceptible to cavities and the least benefitted by fluoride. Surveys show that approximately two-thirds of all cavities occur in the narrow pits and grooves of a child's newly erupted teeth because food particles and bacteria cannot be cleaned out. Other patients also can benefit from sealant placement, such as those who have existing pits and grooves susceptible to decay. Research has shown that almost everybody has a 95 percent chance of eventually experiencing cavities in the pits and grooves of their teeth.

Are sealants covered by insurance?
Although insurance benefits for sealant procedures have increased considerably, coverage is still minimal. The trend is toward expanded coverage of this benefit, especially as companies start to realize that sealants are a proven preventive technique. This preventive measure can help reduce future dental expenses and protect the teeth from more aggressive forms of treatment.

Dental veneers (sometimes called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size or length.

Dental veneers can be made from porcelain or from resin composite materials. Porcelain veneers resist stains better than resin veneers and better mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth. Resin veneers are thinner and require removal of less of the tooth surface before placement. You will need to discuss the best choice of veneer material for you with your dentist.

What Types of Problems Do Dental Veneers Fix?

Veneers are routinely used to fix:

Teeth that are discolored â either because of root canal treatment; stains from tetracycline or other drugs, excessive fluoride or other causes; or the presence of large resin fillings that have discolored the tooth
Teeth that are worn down
Teeth that are chipped or broken
Teeth that are misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped (for example, have craters or bulges in them)
Teeth with gaps between them (to close the space between these teeth)
What's the Procedure for Getting a Dental Veneer?

The procedure usually requires three trips to the dentist â one for a consultation and two to make and apply the veneers. One tooth or many teeth can simultaneously undergo the veneering process described below.

Diagnosis and treatment planning. This first step involves active participation between you and your dentist. Explain to your dentist the result that you are trying to achieve. During this appointment your dentist will examine your teeth to make sure dental veneers are appropriate for you and discuss what the procedure will involve and some of its limitations. He or she also may take X-rays and possibly make impressions of your mouth and teeth.
Preparation. To prepare a tooth for a veneer, your dentist will remove about ½ millimeter of enamel from the tooth surface, which is an amount nearly equal to the thickness of the veneer to be added to the tooth surface. Before trimming off the enamel, you and your dentist will decide the need for a local anesthetic to numb the area. Next, your dentist will make a model or impression of your tooth. This model is sent out to a dental laboratory, which in turn constructs your veneer. It usually takes 1 to 2 weeks for your dentist to receive the veneers back from the laboratory. For very unsightly teeth, temporary dental veneers can be placed for an additional cost.
Bonding. Before the dental veneer is permanently cemented to your tooth, your dentist will temporarily place it on your tooth to examine its fit and color. He or she will repeatedly remove and trim the veneer as needed to achieve the proper fit; the veneer color can be adjusted with the shade of cement to be used. Next, to prepare your tooth to receive the veneer, your tooth will be cleaned, polished and etched â which roughens the tooth to allow for a strong bonding process. A special cement is applied to the veneer and the veneer is then placed on your tooth. Once properly position on the tooth, your dentist will apply a special light beam to the dental veneer, which activates chemicals in the cement causing it to harden or cure very quickly. The final steps involve removing any excess cement, evaluating your bite and making any final adjustments in the veneer as necessary. Your dentist may ask you to return for a follow-up visit in a couple of weeks to check how your gums are responding to the presence of your veneer and to once again examine the veneer's placement.
What Are the Advantages of Dental Veneers?

Veneers offer the following advantages:

They provide a natural tooth appearance.
Gum tissue tolerates porcelain well.
Porcelain veneers are stain resistant.
The color of a porcelain veneer can be selected such that it makes dark teeth appear whiter.
Veneers offer a conservative approach to changing a tooth's color and shape-veneers generally don't require the extensive shaping prior to the procedure that crowns do, yet offer a stronger, more aesthetic alternative to bonding.
What Are the Disadvantages of Dental Veneers?

The downside to dental veneers include:

The process is not reversible.
Veneers are more costly than composite resin bonding.
Veneers are usually not repairable should they chip or crack.
Because enamel has been removed, your tooth may become more sensitive to hot and cold foods and beverages.
Veneers may not exactly match the color of your other teeth. Also, the veneer's color cannot be altered once in place. If you plan on whitening your teeth, you need to do so before getting veneers.
Though not likely, veneers can dislodge and fall off. To minimize the chance of this occurring, do not bite your nails; chew on pencils, ice, or other hard objects; or otherwise put pressure on your teeth.
Teeth with veneers can still experience decay, possibly necessitating full coverage of the tooth with a crown.
Veneers are not a good choice for individuals with unhealthy teeth (for example, those with decay or active periodontal disease), weakened teeth (as a result of decay, fracture, large dental fillings) or for those who have an inadequate amount of existing enamel on the tooth surface.
Individuals who clench and grind their teeth are poor candidates for porcelain veneers, as these activities can cause the veneers to crack or chip.
How Long Do Dental Veneers Last?

Veneers generally last between 5 and 10 years. After this time, the veneers would need to be replaced.

Do Dental Veneers Require Special Care?

No. Continue to follow good oral hygiene practices including brushing and flossing as you normally would.

Even though porcelain veneers resist stains, your dentist may recommend that you avoid stain-causing foods and beverages (for example, coffee, tea or red wine).

Are There Alternatives to Dental Veneers?

Yes, bondings and crowns. Veneers offer a nice intermediate option. Veneers may be best suited for individuals who want to change the shape of their teeth more than just a little bit-as is done with bonding-but not enough to require a crown.

How Much Do Veneers Cost?

Costs vary depending on what part of the country you live in and on the extent of your procedure. Generally, veneers range in cost from $500 to $1300 per tooth. The cost of veneers is not generally covered by insurance. To be certain, check with your specific dental insurance company.

Is there any way that I can have a party at the Hard Rock for a low price?

Lilly

I want to have cheap Sweet 16 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, not a huge party... Maybe about 15 to 20 friends. Is there any way I can make that possible? Other party ideas will also be appreciated :)

Answer
Hotel Spa Party
Reserve a suite at a nearby hotel. Allow your daughter to invite some of her closest friends. Tell all of her friends to bring a bottle of nail polish, favorite lotion, comfortable clothes and a swimming suit (if the hotel offers a pool or hot tub). Before the party begins, decorate the suite to look like a spa with some chairs and tables with a nail painting station, hair styling and facials. Play relaxing music in the background. During the spa "makeovers," assign somebody to take before and after photos. Later on, allow everyone to relax in the pool or hot tub. Hand out gift bags that include each individual's before and after photo, nail polish, bath bubbles and a loofah.

50's Sock Hop
Rent out the school's gymnasium or a conference room at a hotel. Decorate the gym or room with 50s-inspired accessories, such as an old jukebox, dice and cutouts of famous individuals. Design a dinner menu to include old-fashioned hamburgers, hot dogs and milkshakes. Hire waitresses and waiters to roll out in roller skates. Ask guests to come dressed in poodle skirts, white t-shirts with jeans and leather jackets. Hire a DJ to play 1950s music (such as Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry and Fats Domino). Organize a dance contest for couples with the best moves and end the night with some colorful balloons dropping from the ceiling.

Karaoke Idol Sleepover
Use a large rec room or rent a community building space for an evening. Ask guests to bring sleeping bags, pillows, a performance outfit and a few of their favorite songs on CD. Bring a karaoke machine or hire a karaoke DJ. Allow groups or individuals to perform their favorite songs. While the performances are going on, assign somebody to video record the entire show. At the end of each performance, set it up "American Idol 'style and let the performances be judged. Let the party attendees vote for their top two or three performers to sing one more time to choose the "Karaoke Idol." If there is still time, play the video back for the guests to watch as they turn in for the night. As a party favor, burn a copy of the DVD with the performances for all of the guests.

Long nails with nail polish look very pretty but it is not allowed in Islam?

Cute LasS

what to do ...i hope you guys r getting what i mean to say ..?
i can not leave Salah too
help ??'

Answer
Nail polish is not haram although women are to remove it before washing themselves (making ablution/wudu) for prayer. And it is also viewed as an âornamentâ so therefore should not be publicly displayed or rather a woman should not allow a non-mahram man to be able to see either her hands or toes with nail polish.

Organized way to store nail polish (at home)?

allie

I have a LOT of nail polish. When I say that, I mean at least 90-100 bottles. I used to keep it all in a basket, but I need to dig through it to find the color I want. I've tried searching for ways to organize the polish. My problem is: I don't want to put them all on a wall rack but I can never find any other method to store 90+ bottles. I was thinking of putting them in a shoebox.. Any ideas??

Answer
I have an amazing nail polish rack that can go on a table! I will give you a link. It perfectly displays all of my nail polish, and I have 170+. I have a few that it won't hold but that's okay. I put the excess in a small plastic slide out drawer with the bottle on its side. Here's the link!http://www.amazon.com/Polish-Table-Display-Bottles-Spinable/dp/B0052G15UG/ref=sr_1_31?ie=UTF8&qid=1370655520&sr=8-31&keywords=Nail+polish+rack

Answer
You should go on (google these if you have no device that downloads apps):

Wehearit
Pinterest and
Lockerz

I forever love these apps and websites on my phone because it gives me great ideas about makeup, fashion and nails. For wehearit and Pinterest just search in nails or nail art, basically anything and for lockers you can't search anything but pictures of nails do come up.

Zoya nail polish - best/ favorite colors? :)?

Jess in th

In honor of Earth day, Zoya is giving away their Big5Free polishes for 50% off until April 26th!
I absolutely adore Zoya polish, and I plan on stocking up! So I'd like some suggestions :)

- What are some of your favorite Zoya colors?
- What is your can't-live-without color?
- What other Zoya colors have you seen others boast about?
- What are some Zoya colors that you thought would be great, but turned out to be not-so-great?
- What are some of the worst Zoya colors?
- What, if any, colors will you be buying?

I love holographic polish, so my current faves are from their Ornate Holiday collection (2012):
Storm (black), Aurora (purple), Blaze (red) and Ziv (gold).

I also love Zoya's white polishes. To me, they go on the smoothest of any other brand. I typically use Christinne (very sheer white) as a base color. If I want a more opaque white, I go with Snow White.

My other faves are:
Lotus (cool-toned purple with subtle pink shimmer), Reva (strawberry pink with gold glitter) Zuza (metallic teal) Blu (light baby blue) Julie (periwinkle with shimmer) and Sooki (cherry red)

(Details for Zoya Earth Day Polish Exchange)
Technically it's a polish exchange, but the exchange isn't mandatory. Just go to Zoya.com and pick out your colors- A minimum of 6, maximum of 24; For professionals it's a minimum of 12, max of 48 (FYI - all Pixie Dust is excluded from the deal)

At the checkout, enter the code: ZOYAEARTH2013 (note - you won't see the 50% discount reflected until you enter the code) Orders over $55 will ship for free, under $55 is a $6.95 standard ground fee.

For the exchange:
Send Zoya your old, chemical filled polishes to be properly disposed of. Look for:
Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, and Camphor.

Then send them to:
Art of Beauty, Inc.
c/o Polish Exchange
5060 Taylor Rd, Unit D
Cleveland, Ohio, 44128, USA

(ask your local post office on how to properly ship nail polish)

Remember, sending polishes back isn't mandatory - Zoya just wants everyone to be able to enjoy a beautiful, Big5Free manicure!

Girls: Have you done nail art on your nails...?

As

If so, what color and pattern is it..?

Answer
I do mine all the time now and I just love nail art - it is just so easy and the nail art products are so cheap to buy and they last ages!!

When I first started I didn't really know what to do so I just bought nail art stickers and stuck them ontop of my nail polish and sealed them with clear nail varnish - I just am so addicted to nail stickers now, I think they look great. It costs my £3.99 for 170 nail stickers and they last ages and my favourite is white flowers on dark red nail polish.

When I got a bit more confidence I started using nail art rhinestones (just put a bit of clear polish on your nail and they stick to it. ) These look great too.

My favourite just now is the crackle nail polish (W7 Earthquake range I find best)

I get all my products from www.onlinenailbar.com and they are so quick to deliver. I have only recently got my nail art brush set and I'm still experimenting but I can't believe how much I have saved since starting with nail art rather than the salon!

How To Get Red Nail Polish Out Of Carpet?

Shelbylyne

What can I use?

Answer
Removing Nail Polish from Carpet

Tip #1: Any non-acetone finger nail polish remover will take that off and not hurt the carpet. Take a paper towel soak it down a little and wipe it off. Try to keep the area contained that you rub, at first it will look like you are smearing it around, just keep changing paper towels with a new one until stain is gone. You need to change your cloth several times so you're not sliding polish over a bigger area. When done a liquid dish soap will get the smell out of the carpet.

Tip #2: I use the polish remover and blot, then GooGone works to remove the remaining stain.

Tip #3: When I spilt fuschia nail polish on my carpet I saturated it with non-acetone nail polish remover and scrubbed it with a white cloth. After the color stopped coming out on cloth (and it was still slightly pink on the carpet) I made a mixture of liquid dish soap, hot water and bleach and continued scrubbing until the nail polish came out (for white carpets only). If that doesn't work for you try using a fabric marker from a craft store and color over the stain.

Tip #4: I spilled dark purple nail polish on my light grey carpet. When I tried nail polish remover it didn't do a thing. Then a friend told me to try window cleaner and it worked great. I can't even tell it happened.

Tip #5: Tried the window cleaner on the nail polish on the carpet and it worked a treat. The nail polish remover made the carpet turn pink...Barbara

Tip #6: My 2- and 4-year-old grandsons gave me a "manicure and pedicure" for Mother's Day, and ...wouldn't you know it? Some polish ended up on the carpet. Go figure. Well, nan's don't complain. Inside I panicked. I had no nail polish remover, and no carpet cleaner. I tried vinegar on it, just blotting it, not rubbing, as instructed by my most recent professional carpet cleaners. You won't believe how completely clean it came! Did I mention that it was BLACK NAIL POLISH? I thought my carpet was finished! Now, if only I could think of how to...ahem... deal with my nails...Loretta

Tip #7: I tried to remove the giant purple nail polish stain from my green carpet with polish remover and all it did was smear the stain and frustrate me. I read that someone tried glass cleaner and that it worked, so I tried it. It did not take away the purple completely, but it did take away enough of it that it blends into the green enough to not be so shocking. Thank you to whoever came up with this idea. You saved my 4-year-old quite a few tears!!...Rachael

Tip #8: I live in military housing where the carpet is a cheaper variety and was mortified when I saw my girls had spilt nail polish on the carpet and tried to clean it up. I took the advice and used glass cleaner, all I had was the green multi surface type and it worked like a charm! You can't even tell it was there, save a bit of smell. That tip saved some young girls from a major grounding. P.S. The carpet was a neutral tan...Robert

Tip #9: I picked up a bottle of opi nail polish. The lid was not tightened and it went all over the side of the couch and the carpet. It was a bright pink and my couch and carpet are tan & green. I tried the nail polish remover. All it did was smear the polish, so I tried the window cleaner and it came right up!! Thank you so much!...Michele

Tip #10: Thank you for suggesting that window cleaner will remove spilled nail polish from a carpet! The nail polish remover did remove some, but the window cleaner worked great!...Christine

Tip #11: The windex was the trick. Thank you so much for the suggestion. I also tried the nail polish remover and it did get out a little bit of the purple polish out of the carpet but the Windex got the rest of it...Sue

Tip #12: After reading the tips on this site for removing nail polish from carpet, I tried it too! I spilt some red nail polish on my brand new tan colored wool carpet. I sprayed a little window cleaner and it came out so easily! I was amazed!!!!! Thank you so much!!...Brad

Tip #13: I just walked into my daughter's room and was greeted by 3 large red spots of fingernail polish on our tan carpet. I found this site, used the windex and the stain came right out! It was effortless and painless and I'm already over it! Thanks a lot for your great tip...Marie

Tip #14: I spilt bright orange high gloss nail polish onto my cream lounge carpet! Don't use nail polish remover - it just smears it. Use a glass or window cleaner spray - it works wonders! Next tip - don't polish your nails on your lounge carpet!!!!!!...Amanda

How to get nail polish out of carpet?

Double Nic

Answer
nail polish remover will work but USE CAUTION because it can also remove dye from your carpet or upholstery.

On light colored carpet it might not be noticeable but on darker colors. TEST FIRST!

For carpet, always test any kind of chemical stain remover/cleaner in an out of the way place like a corner. Under a cushion might be a good spot for upholstery.

Non-acetone polish remover is probably safer but no guarantees.

According to the author of Talking Dirty with the Queen of Clean, Linda Cobb, try the above mentioned methods and precautions with non-oily nail polish remover. If this does not work, buy straight acetone at a beauty supply house, pretest, and apply with an eye dropper or non-silver spoon, blotting immediately after every application. She adds that once the polish is removed, follow with Spot Shot Carpet Stain Remover (Apply as directed). If some polish still remains, apply hydrogen peroxide to lighten.

Answer
It's called Riva. It came out in November? Maybe December. I follow a few polish blogs, and one very popular one offers Sephora by OPI in Havana Dreams or Rescue Beauty Lounge (I totally recommend) in Bikini Bottom as cheaper options that are very similar.
Another even more popular blogger said she was horribly disappointed in the quality of the polish. And she's pretty hardcore about cosmetics! Haha.
Here's the specific polish for purchase, though:
http://www.chanel.com/en_US/fragrance-beauty/Makeup-Nails-LE-VERNIS-RIVA-120490

Edit - An even easier to access color that looks almost JUST like it is at Walmart. It's by Hard Candy and is called Sky. Here's a comparison:
http://www.vampyvarnish.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Sky-vs-Riva.jpg
Not my picture. Pointer and ring finger is the Hard Candy polish and the middle and pinky are the Chanel polish.

does dollar general sell those nail art pens ?

Becca

I want to do polka dot nails . I already have the main color & I need a white for the polka dots.

so basically what i'm asking,
1) does DG have nails art pens? white ones, specifically.
2) would it be easier to use a nail art pen or to use nail polish from a bottle. (I don't have any white nail polish , so pretty much I'm saying nail art pen or regular white nail polish?) & if you do say bottle, how do I get tiny little dots?

Answer
1. I believe so and I think Dollar Tree has some too, but I don't think they have the pen ones only the bottle with the brush nail art ones.
2. If you want the pen then Walgreens/CVS will have them.

* I think it's easier to do with the bottle but I've never tried the pen at the nail shop they use a tool called a "dotter" it makes perfect dots you can buy these at a nail supply store for $1-3 and you just need polish. All you have to do is drop a 3D drop of nail polish on paper or something to hold it and dip the dotter in it and on your nails.

How can you make nail polish thinner and easier to spread? It is only one month old.?

Carrie

I have only used it about eight times. Can I add nail polish remover to loosen it up?

Answer
You NEVER want to use nail polish remover to thin your polish. It's remover for a reason. It's meant to remove nail polish, and it can wreck the polish if you add it. The ingredients aren't the same, and it's also not good to have things like acetone on your nails. Don't EVER mix remover into your polish. They sell nail polish thinner. You can get it at Sally Beauty Supply. I use a brand called Beauty Secrets and it works great and is cheap!! Here's a link to it online, but you can also buy it in the store:

How long does nail polish last?

...

I really want to buy a back up of OPI Teenage Dream. How long will it last if I keep it unopened until I'm done with my first bottle?

Answer
Look at your nail polish bottle. There should be a little symbol/icon that looks like a tub with a number on it then an M after it with the lid coming off. The number means how many months it will last. My OPI Shatter says it lasts for 24 months-2 years. So maybe that's how long yours will last. I would buy a back up if I were you, but only if you use Teenage Dream nail polish a lot. It will take a while to run out, just keep that in mind<3

best kind of nail polish remover?

i

Answer
I really like the ones that come in the jar that you just stick your finger right into, i find they are super strong and can get nail polish off super fast - i forget the name of them but just look for a jar with a pic on the front of it showing a finger going in, any drug store has them.

What happens if you eat nail polish?

TurdbeasT

I have a grill(those things you put over your teeth with diamonds lol) it's obviously fake and I just wear it for fun everynow and then but anyway sum of the jewels fell out and so I put a tiny drop of clear nail polish in the groves to hold the jewels in. Is it okay to put in my mouth? What will happen?

Btw I'm already 100% sure the jewels and metal is completely safe. So yea I'm just concerned about the nail polish.

Answer
Well - it's certainly not two of the basic elements of a good meal, but neither of these are "good for you". The nail polish is potentially dangerous but, if you're eating dried nail polish off your fingernails, you probably aren't getting enough for it to be instantly toxic. Read the Nail Polish jar for cautions.

As to paper -- it's not harmful unless you eat a lot of it, but it's not helping anything.
Eating things like this falls under the category of an eating disorder. I would strongly recommend you discuss this with your doctor, or an appropriate counsellor.

This falls under a condition called PICA and may be a sign of nutritional deficit. You should discuss this with a doctor.

How to do nail art with nail polish?

Bianca R

Im wanting to do some nail art but idk what tools to use ?and what is the very fine nail brush called and were can I buy it. Also what base polish should I use before any color goes on my nail and what top coat should I use

Answer
The tools used to do nail art are varied and depend on what you are doing.
For example, if you want to do a watermarble you'll need an orange stick (or a needle), a cup, water and nail polishes that spread quite easily on the surface of the water.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OO3NO29L50U
If you want to do dots, a dotting tool is the required. (you can make your own by using materials you have at home. This video teaches you how to do one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mHNAS0CpPo )
If you want to do marbling you'll need a thin brush or a needle.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlK0yrIOq4c
Foils are a handy tool to have around.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tL6isZZaC1A&feature=channel_video_title
If you want to do fancy stuff like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGoCUmZiKYk You'll need acrylic paints.

I think the name of the brush is striper. Is it one of this? http://www.8ty8beauty.com/nail-art/images/nail-art-striper.gif You can buy it on ebay or amazon. There are some nail polishes that have a striper instead of a normal brush. the most common brands are 'kiss' and 'art deco'.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=nail+art+stripers&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=7736329326&ref=pd_sl_7ug49gskrp_b

The base polish is called base coat and it is very important, especially if you paint your nails very frequently. Here's an article explaining why you should use it.
http://www.essortment.com/nail-basics-use-base-coat-60192.html
Most of them are pinkish and it does make a difference.

I always use a regular top coat. However, if I'm using a konad design, I prefer to use their special top coat and when I'm using foil I tend to use top coat for foils.

How to clean my nail art brushes?

Winnie

I just bought a black nail striper from orly (otherwise known as INSTANT ARTIST) and since it's my only striper I thought that I could maybe use the same brush and dip it into a china glaze yellow polish. Then (since it was a light color) I thought I could just stick the yellowed striper back to its original black container without cleaning it because i knew the black color wouldn't change and thought it would be okay. And it was.....until the next day. After a night went by I looked at the black striper and the brush was all hard and isn't they same, the weird thing is that the actual black polish is still perfectly fine. I also tried to clean the brush with nail polish remover but it didn't work.

I know that it was probably the mixing of two different brands, but I've done it with other nail polishes before and it was fine! Does anyone know how to clean a nail polish brush off? I would love to know because this my new polish and my mom doesn't want to buy me a new one. Thank you!

Oh yes and if you also know what went wrong please explain so I won't ever do it again.

Answer
When you mix nail polish doesn't matter who makes it you are caking the tiny hairs on the brush making it hard. Every brush is made from different material when making the bristles, some bristles are thinner than others and finer. Since you dipped and reused then put it back it just made the hardening worse on the bristle material. The addition of acetone which dries out anything also could have contributed to the caking. The bristles to be cleaned should have been wiped off first then washed with soap and water anyou should have then spread the small bristles out with your fingers so that when the brush did dry each bristle dried individually because you didn't it doesn't work making the brush useless.Sometimes it's also good to take your fingers and find lumps of hardened polish and pull it off the outer bristles then the inner. As for the finger nail polish remover don't use it again like I said it drys out the bristles making it a better environment for caking of the bristles. If you cannot get the brush to work keep it capped but use other brushes when using that polish remember to clean the brushes after every single use.

Decorating my room? Easy, cheap stuff for a 13 year old girl!?

Kyndell. <

Hello.
My room is very plain. I have paneling walls & a drop celing with wood flooring. I have one window, it is just a plain blue curtain but I already have ideas about what to do about that- run strips of fabric down it. My bed has a comfiter. It can be white [its reversible]. I want my room to be about horses [even tho that I can be a girly girl]. We just moved around 3 months ago. I need do it your self or cheap projects. I can sew & use a hot glue gun, my dad can do simple wood-working. What is a good idea for a shoe rack? For about 10-15 pairs. Cheaper to buy it or make it? Also, my desk is a reck! I am homeschooled & I use my desk a lot, I am forced to use my laptop on my bed. How to organize it? There is 4 diff. sized note pads. 1 big calander. 2 pen holders [need both]. ringing bell [dont really need but, best place for it], books(only ones reading & info on pets), tape, stapler, alarm clock, horse pics, envelopes, bible, phone, computer games. Also, I need to add details
I have 2 big closets--yet they seem very small...
In the 1st closet I have a dresser-off seanson clothes, bras, panties, & socks. I also have my horse-show stuff in there. I have a 3 wheel cart, for my model horse showing. I have a tube of stuff I don't know what do to with.

Closet #2
All my hanging up clothes.
1 Tub of stuff that I dont know to do with.
baskets of scrapbooking stuff.
shoes, shoes & more shoes.
hair stuff.

WHAT CAN I DO WITH THIS STUFF?

Also, I have about 20 extra hangers-normally. But, sometimes I use them...where should I store them, besides just hanging them on the rack?
Also, I have Wallies-prepasted paper cutouts. They are horses, should I use them?

Answer
wow you seem alot like me. i just moved in my place oct. 03(just moved my last box out today!)have a tendency to pile junk and pens all over my desk plus i was homeschooled for 4 years just i'm five years older. my room is organized but now i need to decorate it.i go for a very boemian style uses stuff i have(i'm a huge pack rat).i'm going to drape my ceilings with velvet like fabric and since i can't paint my walls i drape fabric all over too.( i use small nails called ooks). 1 thing don't use too much of your money. use alot what you have-its important to keep the fun up -thats half the reason 2 start. that shoe rack if you got the materials make it your self. i bought a shoe organizer for i think uh 15 $.it hangs from the ceiling, door and wall.its called perfect curve shoe organizer. it holds 10 pairs. i haven't used it but seems good. i bought it because i have not a lot of spare room. now again if you can make your own and use your creativity its worth it.i decorate my room from alot of hand me downs.i have two beautiful paintings that someone took from where the garbage pile was.they wanted to paint over the paintings.I said no! now i have 2 paintings of original art and i didn't pay a dime. anyway enough of my babblings-just know be creative, don't waste to much money-spoils the fun.Don't panic. At least pile everything together books with books, pens with pens, papers of school with papers with school, personal papers with pesonal paper so on abd so on. Breathe i know what it is to be in a organization wreck. Berfore i went onb vaction i had to spend from 1 am to 9am cleaning a mess i hoared for years in the basement. then i had to pack. well the moral of the story is i carried out 14 bags of junk to the garbage & i'm still alive. okay i need to shut up...

where can i get the opi shatter nail polish besides at salons?

Julia

i really want the opi shatter nail polish but i don't want to go to a salon or something to get it and i don't want to order it offline i would rather get it in person and i was wondering if places like target have it or cvs or walgreens have it... if you have any suggestions please say them... thanks!

Answer
You can buy it anywhere you can buy OPI polishes that regularly come out with the new collections (so even though Target sells OPI, you won't find the new collection there. And no, Sally's, Sephora, and MAC do NOT sell OPI). You can buy it at Ulta, JC Penney salons, Trade Secret, or possibly some salons near you. Recently, OPI sent out another batch of these polishes. My Ulta was totally stocked last time I was there. You can also go to OPIs website (www.OPI.com) and in the top right corner is a "Where to Buy" link.
If you cannot find it, China Glaze has a line of 6 different colors of crackle polish (black, teal, pink, grey, purple, white). You can buy them at Sally's, though they might be sold out as well because they had more colors than just black. You might be able to find these online, too.
There are also other brands besides OPI and China Glaze that have crackle polishes. You'll have better luck searching with the name Crackle as opposed to Shatter. Crackle polishes actually came out back in the 90s by CoverGirl. OPI just renamed it to "shatter".
Some other brands that sell crackles are LaRosa, IsaDora, and Barry M. Also know that OPI is releasing several more crackles in different colors in the coming months.

Shatter nail polish quEstions?

I'm new to this Whole shatter polish thing so I was wondering the following things:
-where can I get them?
-how much do they cost?
-what's the best brand
-can I wear them over any nail Polish ?
Thanks a lot !!!!

Answer

How much do they cost?
Black Shatter costs the regular $8.50 that other OPI's cost (apart from the DS). China Glaze Crackles cost about $6.

What's the best brand?
Having both the OPI and China Glaze ones, I prefer China Glaze because I like the crackle effect it gives more (there's not a huge difference, though), and I find the China Glaze crackle easier to work with. (And FYI, Black Shatter was actually first released with the Serena Williams collection).

Can you wear them over any polish?
Yup!! Any color, brand, finish. Doesn't have to be OPI, and doesn't just have to be the Serena Williams or Katy Perry collections. The insert that comes with it says to put it over an OPI polish, but that's just OPI trying to promote their brand. It works just the same putting it over other brands as it does over OPI.
