Any ideas on how to make your own inexpensive wall decorations?

i am on a tight buget but have nothing on my walls, i have repainted everything but it is missing wall art... any ideas on how to make things that look good for them?

Answer
Buy some frames w/glass of the size art that you want. Buy coordinating fabric/wallpaper and insert behind glass. If you can only find plain colored cloth that you like, but want a patter, buy some stencils, fabric paint, and paint in the pattern you want. If you don't want the glass, just wrap the fabric/wallpaper around the glass and insert into the frame (unless the glass is fitted and/or fabric is thick, it'll be fine). You can also just wrap the cloth/wallpaper around the frame like a Christmas present and just hang it like that.

If you want some sculptural art pieces, simply pick an item you can hang, get a bunch of them, paint them all the same color, and hang artistically. You can make real works of art like this -- it doesn't have to be that abstract. Just for an example: I once took Post-It notes, spray- painted them a shiny copper and silver (some of them both) and then constructed a couple of circling Koi fish. I used thumbtacks to hold them to a large piece of cardboard I had painted blue (edged in black), used the painted notes as scales and cutting to get the edges distinct.
You can also get a bunch of small boxes (jewelry, checks, mailing), paint them in a scheme (all pewter or blue and chocolate or yellow and green), and hang them on the wall -- if they're all cardboard, you can easily make holes in the backs for nails. Having them at several angles can be a fun look. But, if you want them level, then get some picture-hanging wire, poke a hole on each side of the back, run the wire through a little tight so that you can pull it about 1-2 inches up from level with the holes (do leave excess inside the box in case it is too tight). For a sleeker look, wrap them in wrapping paper first (not metallic or plastic).
