Does nail polish work on copper jewelry?

I'm in a jewelry class at school and I am making a key chain in the shape of a seal with copper. I am currently trying to hand polishing it, but the metal keeps (i think?) tarnishing where I hold it. I think it is reacting to moisture or chemicals or something on my hands, or maybe just air. I was wondering if using clear nail polish would prevent it from becoming dull when i move on to another part of the metal to polish. Does this work?
If not, any suggestions?

Answer
When you finish your piece, dip it in citric acid until the copper turns new. You may then coat it with a thin layer of transparent nail polish or use a pray lacquer (used for isolation in electronics) to protect your key chain.
Good luck!

How do you remove dried nail polish from a laptop?

Chimpanzee

Is it safe to use nail polish remover or should I use something else, like cleaning alcohol? It's not that much, but still...yeah.

It's not on the keyboard, it got on the touch-sensitive mouse.

Answer
Be very careful with any kind of solvent. If it can take off nail polish, it can also take off lables and paint too. Do your best not to get any kind of liquid whatsoever on the keys as it can drip down into the laptop and short it out.

Whatever you do, shut the power off to the laptop and remove the battery before trying to clean it.

Apply the cleaner (I'd try rubbing alchohol first) to a cotton swab and dab that on the nail polish first.

In future, keep all liquids, including nail polish, well away from your laptop or any electronic device (except for kitchen gadgets of course). The two main enemies of computers are dust and liquids.

I work on repairing computers for a living and a lot of the machines I work on have been damaged by liquid spills. Getting full of dust on the inside causes overheating in both desktops and laptops so have the insides of the computer cleaned at least once a year too. You can do it yourself if you wear an anti static wrist strap and are careful not to remove anything you are not sure where or how to put back from the inside of the computer.
