How did it reflect new freedoms many women were enjoying in the twenties?

Answer
The fashions of the 1920's reflect changes which had already begun in the nineteen-teens when women's skirts became a bit shorter and some women began to bob their hair. While the '20's saw these trends carried to extremes never before seen in history, the most dominant theme of women's fashions in the '20's is probably that of overt sexuality.

During this decade, it became acceptable for women to discard their corsets, to wear nail-polish and visible makeup, to show bare arms by day and bare legs anytime. Semi-nudity was flaunted with the conspicuously rolled stockings of the flappers.

Being liberated from corsets and multiple layers of clothing freed women in terms of their freedom of movement, and also freed them from the burdens of buying and maintaining bulky, elaborate clothing. The explicit sexuality of '20's clothing reflected the new social norms of the post First World War era.

what are some good Ideas for 1950s Pin Up Girl Hair?

I bought a 1950s style pin up girl costume (army) and i have short chin length type hair and it comes with a hat. Any ideas? Help!!!

Answer
Finger waves were more 1920s, but a much looser version was still around in the fifties. Since you are going as an army chick it would by much more no-nonsense, sensible type of hair.

You could go for a very smoothed bob since you are wearing a hat. You could sweep a bit of hair across you forehead and pin it to make a smooth, cute fringe. (um...bangs?)

Since the hat mostly covers your hair, and you have short hair anyway,
i would think the make uo would be more important, which in the 1950s was glamorous, gorgeous with big red lips, a little blush and blemish free complexion.

"Hot Products of the â50s

There were certain 1950âs makeup products that defined the trends of the time. They included:

* Bright Red Lipstick/Nail Polish: Everywhere you went; 1950's women were donning scarlet lips and matching fingernails.
* Pan Cake Foundation: A much-thicker version of todayâs foundation, it covered blemishes and imperfections with a thick coating.
* Liquid Eyeliner: It was a stylish 1950âs makeup trend to wear a thick, bold line across the top eyelid, accompanied by two coats of black mascara.
* Rosy Blush: Two circles on the apples of the cheeks, the blush added back some of the color taken away with the foundation. "
