I'm look for an adoptable guinea pig in philadelphia I won't need much of the information until after november but if you happen to know a guinea pig adoption center in philly I would appreciate the help. i want to adopt because i do not support the guinea pig mills. Guinea pigs are fun loving creatures. Since youâre going to adopt one you might want to give it the BEST and FUNNEST life possible. First off you need an appropriate cage! A C&C cage is the ideal cage for a guinea pig because it gives them lots of room to exercise, it gives them excitement and happiness being in a big open cage, it is EASIER to clean and it gives you a super fun arts and crafts "build it yourself" experience. ONE guinea pig will need 7.5 sq feet to have enough t room to exercise and run around. This is equal to 2x3 grids. Umm Guinea pigs don't produce their own vitamin c unlike most mammals so they will need ot be given pellets with vitamin c and in addition fruits and veggies that provide vitamin c (ex. bell peppers (all kinds), kiwi, kale, cantaloupe, etc.)
They need accessible water 24/7 as aLL pets do. They also need a rack of timothy hay (you can buy a little ball at petsmart for 3 bucks instead of a rack) because their teeth (like their nails) never stop growing. And the timothy hay helps file their teeth which prevents infection, pain and other complications. Chew toys are also helpful. AND your guinea pig will need a place to hideout/sleep. This can be a little piggie hut, or a pigloo, or you can make one out of Kleenex box and put cushion inside (cut open the box to make a door for it. and whole punch some holes on the box). So basically i will list what you will need for your guinea pig:

*a water bottle (the kind with the little nozzle thing)
*food bowl (for pellets)
*Sep food dish for fruits and veggies
*Hide out
* Chew toy
*timothy hay (rack or ball to keep the hay inside)

AFTER you read about the C&C cage and you decide you want to make one yourself you can buy the storage grids at walmart or target or bed bath and beyond or basically ANY container/storage store. They should have it. The Chloroplast can be found at ANY sign Shop and SOME homeDepots have them. Well I hope I hope I helped! :) and remember to Give your piggie VITAMINC C EVERY DAY AND LOTS OF TLC! :)
