Does shellac top and base coat work with regular nail polish?

If i do a shellac base then regular nail polish (or opi lacquer) and then the shellac top coat; will it cure and last more than a few says? (with the uv lamp)

yeap, so just apply the base then wait till its fully dry then start with the normal nail polish.

My mom said that nail lacquer is the finished "layer" that you put on your nails after you paint them with nail polish.

lacquer is fancy for polish. no difference. top coat is what goes on afterwards.
